"So, what have you found out?" Mr Lam peered at the PI he had hired.
"It's just a piece of cake for me, Mr Lam. You should know that nobody makes a better PI than me,"
The PI placed an envelope on Mr Lam's table. Mr Lam opened it and threw its contents onto the table with unsatisfaction.
"This is what you give me when I pay you at such a high rate? I've asked you to check up my whereabouts of my biological son, why did you give me pictures of Ron and Tavia? You're not trying to say Tavia's my daughter right? It's irrelevant!"
"Chill, Mr Lam. Tavia Yeung, is the daughter of the Yeung family, who is your future-daughter-in-law. As for Ron Ng, I'm still double-checking," The PI said calmly as he lighted a cigarette.
"You fool! You haven't done anything and..-"
"Mr Lam, let me finish my sentence. From what I've found out so far, Ron Ng is born in the same year, same month, same day and in the same hospital as Raymond. There's a high possibility that the two got mixed up. I've contacted the gynaelogist who delivered Raymond, and she said that, if she remembered correctly, two babies were born on that same day, both delivered by her, and there was a common nurse who helped out in both cases,"
"So? Where's that gynae that you are talking about?"
"I have my own ways, Mr Lam. Profiles of witnesses are highly confidential and I'm not supposed to leak it out. Please know that I have to abide by my occupation laws,"
"Fine, so you are trying to say that Ron might be my son?"
"I've just said that,"
"Okay. I'll pay you half of the money first and when you've double-checked for me, I'll pay you the other half," Mr Lam wrote out a cheque.
"Sure," The PI smirked and took the cheque.
Mr Lam picked up the phone and dialled Dr Kang's number.
"Hello, Dr Kang here. May I help you?"
"Dr Kang, Mr Lam here. I need your help,"
"Uh, yes?" Dr Kang asked, having a funny feeling.
"I want you to examine mine and my wife's DNA against Ron Ng's, Leila's brother,"
"Uh, but do Ron knows about this? I mean, this is..-"
"I'm paying the hospital, don't worry. Should anything happens, I'll take responsibility. With me backing you up, no one will dare to say anything,"
"But, Mr Lam, this..-"
"No buts," Mr Lam cut Dr Kang and ended the call.
Dr Kang frowned but informed his nurse.
"Help me get Ron Ng's and Mr and Mrs Lam's blood sample,"

Tavia and Ron walked into Raymond's ward, hand in hand.
Raymond whistled. "Woohoo, so it's not only me and Leila who's dating huh?"
"Lame," Ron remarked, rolling his eyes.
"I agree with Ron. Lame right?" Tavia grinned sweetly at Ron.
"Aiyo, can you two please stop it?" Leila groaned. "My goosepimples are coming up. See?" Leila stretched out her hand.
"You don't see me saying that to you when I see you with Raymond," Ron retorted.
"Okay, cut!" Raymond did a chopping action in the air. "The important thing now is not this, but is about the wedding. My parents wants the wedding to carry on,"
"Same," Tavia frowned and gave a frustrated sigh.
Mrs Lam stepped into the ward. "Woah, having a party here? Eh, Ron, you're here too,"
"Hi Mrs Lam," Ron greeted.
"And Tavia..."Mrs Lam continued.
Tavia smiled at Mrs Lam. "Hi, auntie,"
"Still calling me auntie? Erm, let's forget about this whole thing for the time being," Mrs Lam said when she noticed Tavia glancing at Ron.
Mrs Lam stuck her gaze at Ron for the whole time she was in the ward, making Ron feel uncomfortable.
"Do you find something weird? Mrs Lam keep staring at me," Ron whispered, making sure that it is only audible to Leila, Raymond and Tavia.
"I know that," Tavia whispered back.
"Eh, Ron. I thought you said you wanted to buy some books at the bookstore? I think you should go before they are sold out," Raymond winked, attempting to get Ron out of this awkward situation.
"Oh, yea. Thanks for reminding! Tavia, let's go. Bye everybody!" Ron said, catching Raymond's hint.
"Uh, I drive you there?" Mrs Lam stood up.
"Oh, there's no need to, thanks Mrs Lam, bye!" Ron replied hastily and went out of the ward with Tavia.
Mrs Lam smiled and sat down.
Mrs Lam's POV: Ron's so thin. Must get some tonics for him. Maybe he is my son. Although he don't know about this, I'm happy enough to see him everyday.
* Mrs Lam's flashback *
"That was what the PI told me. But it makes sense somehow," Mr Lam informed his wife over the phone.
"So, so Ron is our son?"
"I don't know. But I've asked Dr Kang to examine our DNA,"
"Wait! Then, then what about the wedding?"
"I've said enough, let it continue!"
"But, Raymond is not our son and Tavia loves Ron...-"
"That's not a big problem. We raised Ray up, remember that! So, let Tavia marry Ray!"
"But, that will hurt Ron's heart and..-"
"It's final! And I repeat myself for the last time, let the wedding go on!"
* End of flashback *
"Mum, Mum? Are you okay?" Raymond asked.
"Uh yea, I'm fine," Mrs Lam mumbled, feeling guilty when Raymond showed her such concern.
"A penny for your thoughts?" Raymond probed.
"Don't be a busybody! I..I'm going home to brew some soup for you. Bye Leila!" Mrs Lam rose from her seat clumsily and went for the entrance before Raymond could ask any further.
"What's happening?" Raymond asked Leila, scratching his head.
"You're scratching your head," Leila replied.
Raymond made a face at Leila.
* A few days later *
"So, what's the results, Dr Kang?" Mrs Lam asked, gripping the handle of her handbag tightly.
"Ahem," Dr Kang coughed, looking straight at Mr and Mrs Lam. "The DNA report shows that..The DNA report shows that the DNA of Ron's and Mr and Mrs Lam's, matches 99%, meaning that...It means that Ron is the biological son of Mr and Mrs Lam,"
"Ron? We owe him too much," Mrs Lam closed her eyes.
"And, I think you should know about this. Another fact that I've found out when I was examining Raymond's DNA was that.." Dr Kang stopped.
"Was what?" Mr Lam asked.
"Raymond is Leila's blood brother, which means, they can't be together," Dr Kang finished.
