Gunter looked up at the gigantic Elder of the Giants with great difficulty. Even though he is more than a dozen hundred years old, the hunchback Giant still stood at an impressive height of fifteen feet, from his sole to the pinnacle of his hump which was like a little hill rising to above his hindbrain. The skull helm he is wearing is created using the hardest bone in Mesopia, the bone of a Dragon. The tough hide he wrapped around his loin is made from the skin of an Elephunk, the largest carnivorous beast roaming on the lands far south of here. Only the strongest are worthy of these accessories, and Kongi was one of the very few of them.
He was a fearsome warrior in the past, as well as a powerful Mu user on par with Lady Maya.
”You need not speak any further, Little Gunter. My mu have informed me of your arrival. Worry not; we will protect you and your friends from the humans until your return from the Temple of Bahaaj. It is our duty… ”
Why, Gunter thought in hidden anger, why must everyone use the word ‘Little’ on him?! Nonetheless, what they have feared most was finally over. A month ago, the Humans launched a surprise attack on their tribe in order to conquer them. Although the Machinas were presenting quite a challenge, the Giants were no pushovers either. Deemed as the fiercest race on Mesopia, even a non-Mu-using Giant can easily take down any Machina.
During the confrontation, neither side won. And it was during that attack that the Humans managed to find their ways into the Temple which the Giants guarded as a sanctuary.
Then, Azure’s egg was found.
“News about Azure rebelling against the Humans with his incredible Mu have reached all parts of the world, and everyone believe that it is due time that we do something to regain peace. ”
Numerous thoughts were flooding Gunter’s mind, saturating his thinking.

“Fufuufufuufufuu… Now, Azure… do you know the trigger to activate your Mu?”
Grand Master Gola asked half-laughingly. He sure has a strange way of laughing, Lilith thought in amusement. Gola is the owner of the largest fighting coliseum in Mesopia, as well as a Giant whose fists could shatter even the hardiest mountains. Speaking about triggers, Azure knew that his Mu would appear whenever he saw people getting hurt or killed. He explained to the large entity, and a conclusion was reached.
“Fufuufufuufufuu … So, your trigger is empathy --- You wish to protect. Very well, activate that trigger and show me your Mu.“
Gola folded his arms and smiled slightly. With a loud thump, the Giant then crossed his huge legs and sat down on the field. Even so, he was still a few feet taller than Azure. Lilith tilted her head sideways and stared at the boy, wondering whether he knew how to trigger his Mu in such calm situations. Easier said than done, she considered.
“I… try.”
Blankly, Azure narrowed his brows a little and bit his lips. Holding up his right hand, images of Humans attacking the other races swarmed into his thoughts. The Juhnas were hurt… and so were the Kurts… he need to do something to stop them. It was not rage… but a yearning for power to protect the weak.
That’s right…
The blue circle of symbols appeared beneath the earth he is stepping on, and Gola could feel an immense power concentrating in the boy right in front of him. Impressive amount of energy… Both the grand master and Lilith thought in awe.
Azure’s energy then formed into the huge bird he was familiar with. With its pinions fully outstretched, the Mu could extend to an enormous width. Lilith has never watched Azure’s Mu so thoroughly before… and she could not help but be mesmerized by its beauty.
It had a body covered with turquoise-blue feathers glowing faintly, and its breast and abdomen were tinged slightly grayish-blue. Its scaly long feet had peacock-green striations. Two long feathers of deep blue embellished its crown, and diamond-liked spots ornamented the area around its eyes like a masquerade.
“Elegant… and…and…”
Feminine? Lilith’s thoughts wandered to an unbelievable territory. Somehow, she thinks that Azure’s Mu is a female. Not that Mus have gender differences though.
“Now… Azure. Attack me.”
“W-what…?!”
Azure lost his concentration a little.
“I said, Attack me. Come on, I know what I am doing, fufuufufuufufuu.”
Azure understood the master’s intentions, and nodded. He lowered his eyelids as if he was a little drowsy, and took in a deep breath before giving commands to his Mu. He need not say a word, for his mind was already mutually linked to his Mu.
The avian Mu rose into the air with a spin, creating a vacuum of air around the circumference, and then took a dive towards Gola. The latter maintained his sitting position and stretched his bare arms outwards so as to receive the attack with his own Mu. The two forces collided, giving birth to a shockwave which almost blew Lilith away.
“Very strong indeed. Fufuufufuufufuu~ But you can do better than that. Remember, a stronger will gives rise to a stronger power!”
Gola taunts in a friendly manner and Azure added more energy in his attack. The point of interception made visible by a few levitated leaves was shifted more towards Gola, who then added more force into his Mu as well so that the distance between the leaves was pushed backwards again.
“Arrrrrr, more!”
Azure’s eyes grew fiercer. While one part of him tries to hold back to prevent hurting Master Gola, the other part wanted to win. The amount of Mu in him kept rising… eventually reaching an alarmingly high level. Gola was shocked. Where do his limits lie? The grand master got onto his feet finally.
Lilith backed away from the fields and was surprised to see many of Gola’s students crowding outside the gates of the coliseum to witness the training.

Ever since the Human’s ambitious attacks on the Giants, they have retreated a few miles back and asked for a month of ceasefire, but fighting would still occur at the territory’s borders. Something must be done soon, or the amount of casualties would increase meaninglessly.
”Have you any clues to who he is…?
“I am currently in the process of finding out. However I am quite certain that the truth will be soon be revealed. “
Gunter assured the Elder with a confident smile. Knowing his character too well, Elder Kongi laughed heartily while shaking his head.
”Very well, after Azure came back from the training, we will escort the group of you to the Temple.”
”Much appreciated.”
”By the way, Little One… Do you think he is up to the job?”
Before Gunter started to say anything, there was a slight earthquake which shook the Elder’s dwelling. A Giant who appeared to be Grand Master Gola’s disciple barged into where they were all of a sudden, looking drained and excited at the same time.
”Elder… E-elder Kongi… M-master Gola,” he squeezes his words out as he pants heavily, “Master Gola has been defeated by that boy!”
Gunter need not answer Kongi’s question, for the answer has already been revealed.
