Lilith sobbed while looking at Azure who was lying unconscious on her laps. Without her trigger, which was the music from her flute, her Mu could not be activated. During the explosion caused by the Machinas the other Tartans brought into the cave, her flute was stolen by them because it was made of the Desert Rose.
If only Ladhul had not betrayed them, she thought vengefully, Azure would not have to take part in the race and got himself injured from protecting her.
”Azure…”

“I’m taking a bath at the lake down there, so don’t you come any closer to this line!”
While giving out her commands, Anzu used a thick branch to carve a line onto the soil below the grasses, separating Azure and her into two different lands.
Azure murmured something before leaving the place in a harpy mood. There is somewhere he must go tonight, so he is now heading towards the marketplace to stock up on his ‘supplies’. It has been seven days since Anzu arrived and so far she has not showed any signs of escaping other than annoying him occasionally.
Maybe I’ll begin trust her, he considered.
Suddenly, a scream came from the lake beyond the woods some distance away. Anzu? He turned around straightaway and dashed towards where she was. But when he reached the place, she was merely sitting by the lake and kicking the water with her feet.
“So you do have the intentions! To rush here so quickly…” Her words made Azure speechless.
“You are… having me on?”
Anzu nodded and clarified that the scream was a psychological test. He was defeated by her creativity. A final exercised self-control prevented anger’s outburst from him. But just when he was about to ignore her and turned around to resume what he was initially going to do, she called for him again.
“Hey.”
“What?”
“Your eyes are fierce, so much so that nobody would dare to come near you.”
“Well I am a loner.”
“It’s a bad habit you know? Being so good looking and yet always pushing others aside… You won’t have any luck in girls uh-huh. ”
She returned her attention to the water which she was dipping her feet in and pouted her lips like a child throwing tantrums.
”So be it then.”
”What?! Gosh… anyway, what are you preparing for?”
”You know what I’ll be doing.”
Azure answered indirectly, which shocked her. Of course, she recalled, he is a thief after all. Well, maybe a chivalrous one. But then, stealing in the name of justice is not really something you can be proud of.
“Don’t go.” Anzu called out.
“?”
“Stealing is …wrong. Those things aren’t yours… and to give it to the others…”
Azure’s expressions changed in an instant, showing Anzu that she has upset him.
”Then what do you know? What do you know about the people?”
He stared at her and hollered.
”S-sorr…”
”Don’t meddle with my life, or you will be sorry.”
His words underlay a murderous intention and yet sadness lingered within it too. Anzu felt it, but she could not find another word to say.
As he walked away from the lake, some memories of his childhood returned to him like a nightmare. He was an orphan abandoned on the streets by his parents because they did not have the money to bring him up, and has long since then lived in solitude. Life was hard, and even though he knew stealing is a crime, he had no choice but to do it. The Human Elder is an incompetent one, and it is a common knowledge that his rule will not last long. But before that, he must do something to survive, and help the people who suffered.
”If only I had more power… I wouldn’t have to steal to help the poor…”
He had witnessed how the others people were eating withered grassroots to survive winter, and he understood the pain of losing a loved one due to poverty. He despised those who lived in comfort and knew nothing about the commoners, but he hated those who knew and did nothing to help more.
”It’s time to show them the reality.”
He locked his brows tight and walked on without looking at Anzu again.
