Red murmured as she holds the kingdom’s beauty in her glassy eyes beneath a sand-hue cape. The sovereignty had reminded her of her homeland, which used to be as powerful and grandiose as this. Colorful banners lined from one building to another, noisy bazaar welcomed those who yearned for a shopping spree, and joyful people who seemed as if they fest every day.
”The moon is going to be whole tonight.”
Beside her, Iris was a little surprised at the randomness of Red’s sentence. But somehow she knew Kurts are a race closely associated with the celestial body in the night sky.
”Maybe I will tell her about the piece of scroll I got from the Temple tonight, about my other purpose for the journey…”
The younger lady murmured.

Holding a Machinan compass which tells not the direction but the location of targets, Damask followed its instructions and trailed along the city of sand. Thanks to the Tartan Race, the sandstorm which prevented many from entering the forbidden lands is gone. And with a little bit of disguise, Damask managed to enter the sand dwellers’ territories unscathed.
“Bring her back within 5 days or I will have to fire despite my daughter is there.”
He can never forget how cruel the lord of the Empire can be. Never, ever since the day he entered the Human’s capital, Xenon as a child. Iris is everything to him, the only person who really cared about him.

“You majesty, with this Rose in my hand I, Balthaladhulazzhiz, beseech for the hands of the Princess.”
Ladhul spoke timidly as he knelt down in front of his king who was sitting some distance away with his queen by his side. Despite the afternoon heat, the Tartan broke into cold sweat. Time had elapsed fast since the Race started, and Ladhul seemed to be the only one returning. The others, King Alliduddin reckoned, would have been dead or still trying to find the rose. Not too bad, he concluded after looking at Ladhul’s face, but a little too common-faced for his daughter.
”Show me your victory.”
The King asked despite his personal thoughts about the victor. Upon the order, Ladhul took out the flute he stole from Lilith and presented it to the king. A Tartan soldier relayed the instrument to his king. Upon receiving the object, King Alliduddin examined it with great detail. After all, this will be deciding his daughter’s future fate.
”Why is it in the shape of a flute instead of an ore?”
The ruler of Tartan questioned as he felt for the gem’s texture. Suddenly, he noticed something unusual in the pretty object.
“It was errr… my family heirloom. I… sorta found it in one of my store---“
“How did you get past the desert monsters?”
Ignoring Ladhul’s previous answer, the king pressed on.
“I um… killed them. Yeah, I killed them with my dagger.”
“LIAR!”
Alliduddin’s roar sent a materialized lightning down which struck half a meter away from where Ladhul is, cracking the expensive golden tiles of the palace into pieces. Ladhul was frightened to a large extent that he remained in his crouching position and dared not get up. And it was obvious to the others that the Tartan was shaking real hard.
“This flute belonged to the royal family of Tartan, and you dare say it is your family heirloom?! The crest carved in the inner chamber is the best explanation! You can’t even dodge my lightning successfully, and by what miraculous means did you use to defeat the sand monsters?”
Ladhul found no more reason to deepen his sins.
“I-I’m sorry, your majesty ---“
“How can I entrust my princess to a liar? For your crime, I shall have you executed a fortnight later. “
“Y-your majesty…!” Ladhul have not yet given up on his struggle.
“Tell me,” the king continued to ask, “To whom does this flute belong to?”
There are only two pieces of the Rose ore left in the palace’s treasure vault, and it belonged to the sister of King Alliduddin --- The same person who abandoned her throne to elope with a Human.
”I…”
“Uncle Alliduddin!!”
A young woman’s voice rang from the other end of the chamber, and as the kingdom’s nobles all turned their heads to see, she broke into an energetic sprint towards her uncle. It is quite obvious that she is a human.
“Lilith?”
Ladhul’s heart skipped a beat and almost stopped when he saw the lady who threw herself into the king’s arms.
”It can’t be… you made it out alive?! W-where’s Azure?!”
He cried in disbelief. If this young woman is calling the king her ‘Uncle’, then he ought to get himself shot than not to investigate her background first. Iris turned around scanned him for another minute before replying.
“Huh?”
“Y-you came back for your f-flute…? I… was so sure that the explosives got to you two…!”
The outlaw murmured timorously by himself. Before the king understood what happened, Iris figured it out instead.
“I’m sorry mister, but my name is Iris, not Lilith. And you are a total stranger to me.”
So they are just looking alike? Ladhul thought while trying to calm himself down.
“If you are thinking that we are just looking alike, I’m sorry again, you are terribly wrong. Lilith, you see, is my twin sister.”
Not only Ladhul, but the king and the nobles were all too shocked to say anything. The price of hurting Tartan’s royalty will be very hefty for the poor commoner to pay.

“Full moon… is coming out soon…”
Red sauntered along the evening streets quietly, as if waiting for the moon to appear in the night sky --- Something which runs in the blood of Kurts will soon manifest itself. Just then, as if another blood is calling for hers, a mysterious figure brushed across her shoulders abruptly. As she turned her head around, she saw a young man’s back amongst other commoners in the lively bazaar.
Although he is no longer a kurt, no longer loyal to the Night… This feeling, she thought, this nostalgic feeling could never be wrong.
“Scarlet!!”

i guess i kinda forgot to explain why
Anzu knew Azure's real name back then.
Well, she can hear the Gods,
and since Gods are all-knowing,
therefore she is all-knowing as well LOL.
~
Oh yes, finally i got to reveal something this chap.
but i guess some readers might have already guessed it
Time for some more explanation?
(spoilers ahead)
i mentioned in chp 23/24 that Iris' mother renounced
her Tartan royalty's status to flee with a human.
remember XD? so that makes Lilith a half-Tartan, though
she looked more like a Human lol~
why does she have mu and her sister Iris doesn't?
well... i think i will explain later =P
as for who is the older twin...
care to guess XD?
