A Tartan warrior reported of the catastrophe. Judging on his frightened looks, King Alliduddin knew the matter was serious. Iris’ expressions changed in an instant.
“Uncle! I think it’s… it’s… too late to evacuate…”
”?!”
“Most likely it was the work of my father…the deadly Machina, Apocalypse, created using the finest technologies of Humans and charged using Mu. I have come to inform you of it, but it seems that I am too late…“
The king and his niece rushed to the windows to witness the coming, and was shocked to see a huge sparrow formed using Mu was trying to receive the blast all by itself.
”What powerful Mu that is… Both the blast and the person trying to deflect it. I wonder who that person is...”
The king is shocked and a little afraid by the immense power struggle he is witnessing.
“Iris, evacuate with my wife and daughter.” The king gave his absolute orders coolly.
“But…”
“I have to help. This is after all, MY kingdom!”

“Azure…?”
“That guy!”
Both Damask and Red witnessed the fight between the Apocalypses’ blast and Azure’s Mu while slithering through the fleeing citizens or Tartan, with him searching for his princess and her chasing after him.
Damask thought this would be an extra time Azure gained for him to find Iris. Two weights were falling heavily on his shoulders, and he can only choose one: The Princess or his career which he took so long to build?
If he chooses the former, he will have to help Azure and betray the Empire, and if the latter was chosen, he must then let go of the fair maiden whom he holds dear.
”?!”
Then, his eyes caught the shadow of someone he has been looking for a long time.

Azure tries hard to deflect the blast away. But the force was so strong that, for the first time, Azure thought he might just die from it. Lilith felt the impact too, for her Mu was being rapidly used up by Azure’s drainage. Although it sounded impossible, the two has already managed to hold on for five minutes, with neither sides thinking of giving up yet. Perhaps now, all it takes should be just a few more Mu to allow a victor to emerge.
The citizens of Tartan have been using this time to evacuate the city and run into the open desert, but so far only a third of the people have made it out successfully due to the populous nature of Tartan. Even the sand monsters did not bother attacking anyone at this crucial moment.
“A-azure… I…”
Lilith forced out her words just before collapsing due to extreme fatigue, leaving Azure to fight the losing battle alone.
”I’m sorry…”
She apologized while trying to grasp for some air, and at the same time she kept reproaching herself for not being useful in this situation. How many times has it been? She wondered why she could not be of help to Azure. Ever since her realization some time back, the agony in her chest grew. Now, the pain is so excruciating that her silent tears began to fall.
“Since when did I become so…” She murmured and watched Azure in silence.
Ignorant of Lilith’s agony, Azure focused all his thoughts into his Mu. His hands trembled uncontrollably and gritted his teeth tight. This is the end; he thought ruefully, the end for everything.
--- Until ---
“What…?”
A yellowish energy struck his Mu all of a sudden, and the materialized sparrow shed its blue feathers for a golden coat. Both Azure and Lilith was relieved for a moment as they felt another energy replenishing what they have lost in their bodies. It was a powerful and electrocuting Mu…
“Azure, I presume? You are must be Lilith… … Really alike…”
A matured voice which carried a little Tartan accent spoke from behind them. Azure stole a quick glance and quickly noticed that it was a middle-aged person --- the King of this kingdom. Similar to his people, the king had dark skin and a huge tattoo-liked birth mark on his body which stretched all the way to his neck. From the amount of energy he is channeling to him, Azure could tell the enormous strength the king possessed and why the Juhnas wished for him to help in their resistance against the Humans.
But this is not the time to question the reason behind his knowing of their names.
“Azure, Tartan is in your debt,” The king said humbly, “And Lilith, I will tell you about your heritage once this is over.”
His words shocked Lilith and Azure all of a sudden.

“My lord, the blast has been met with resistance from a few strong Mus. We are still trying to find out the culprits…”
The sentinel responsible for the firing of Apocalypse reported quickly to his master.
“Enough. Prepare another shot. “
King Schwartz narrowed his brows and crushed the glass of wine with his bare hand, causing the red liquid within to spill over his palm.
“But the prisoners will not be able to take it…“
“DO IT!”
The roar from the ruler of the Empire frightened the others in the control room, conveying the fact that he hates to lose. His sentinels obeyed his orders and prepared to drain more energy out of the prisoners who had no where to run--- They can only be drained of their last bit of energy until the final moment when they die.
“Interception of second raid in five, four, three, two…”
************************************************************************************
The second blast of concentrated Mu energy came just as King Alliduddin and Azure thought the winning streak was in their hands. Although it was much smaller than the first, it will be just as great a threat. Upon interception with their Mu, the difference in energy level can then be easily shown. Both of them were being pushed violently against the walls, which then cracked and gave way to the impact of the blast.
The clash had stirred up a gigantic sandstorm in the entire kingdom which uprooted the trees, destroyed the buildings and crushed the civilians alike.
Azure and the King will lose the meaningless struggle, and they know it. Despite that, they had hoped for a miracle to happen. The Machinan cube he picked up from the cave fell from his pocket, and the night when he fought Damask came into his mind.
Maybe this is it.
