Damask called from behind, causing the lady in front of him to stop dead in her tracks. Right behind them was Red, who has been following her brother in his search for Iris.
“Why are you… ”
Upon seeing a face she missed, Iris’ eyes grew soft… Almost like a little woman instead of an airy princess she used to portray. It was then Red sensed some awkward feelings between her brother and the Human princess.
“Milady, I will take you back to the Empire safely. There is still time. Here, take my hand…” Damask offered his hand, and Iris took it. The former tried to pull her over to his side, but she stood sternly on the same spot, unwilling to budge an inch.
”No.”
“!”
“I want you to help them before I agree to anything!”
As the princess plead, her other hand grabbed his tightly so that he could not escape--- She is forcing him to make his choice right now.
“Scarlet,”Red cut into their conversation suddenly, “She won’t go unless you help.”
Rage gathered within him, but was soon tamed by the princess with just a simple word.
“Please.”

Azure took the Machinan cube into one of his hands and threw it far enough to be absorbed by his Mu. Although he does not know what will happen, he can only try.
“Mu and Machina…”
Lilith watched as the two energies try to interact. So that was the lesson Damask taught Azure back then.
The sparrow which materialized from Azure’s energy gave out a horrible screech, but it was not in pain, rather, it was trying to absorb the foreign energy into itself. Then, its bulk grew to an even larger proportion.
The method worked, Azure thought, but it was not enough to destroy the two blasts.
Another red Mu joined his from another end of Tartan, giving it a reddish tinge at the tips of its feathers.
“Damask von Weiss…?”
With the three Mu, the path of the blast sent by the Empire finally stirred out of its designated direction. The gargantuan sparrow wrestled with it, and was soon able to shift it a few degrees to the northwest… …
And no more.
”It’s not enough!”
King Alliduddin yelled as he tried to call more power, but noticed that he has no more energy left to even support his own legs. There are still thousands of people evacuating, and they will not be able to make it on time to the desert.
Azure’s last bit of energy was too being used up.
And then it was all over.
With no more obstruction, the blast slipped past his grasps and was free to enter into the Northwest Territory, swallowing everything in its path like a huge killer tornado.
Grounds shook and deep crevasses reaching to the centre of Mesopia formed, separating the kingdom into different continents of its own;
Houses were being torn up like a piece of paper, including the palace;
Vegetations and livestock were being ground into shreds;
And the Tartans who were still running for their lives… were being swept off their feet…
Over. It was all over.
The giant tornado of stopped its menacing acts abruptly after a minute of constant destruction, and disappeared suddenly, leaving its toys suspending in midair for another second.
Unable to defy gravity, pieces of materials then started falling back to earth as rain, drenching every mourning soul with its blood red hue.
Azure’s heart plunged deep into an abyss of agony as he stretched out his palm to receive the raindrops. Eyes closed, tears then went over the rims of his eyelids and emerged unwittingly. His mouth opened for a moment and closed again to grit his teeth with a mixture of anger and hatred for the Empire. Everything was abnormally silent except for the falling rain and moaning of Lilith and the King.
If he had known that the outcome will still be the same no matter how hard they tried, he would not have wished for the glimpse of hope the Machinan cube gave him.
”Such… is the folly of intelligence we gave to the Seeds... derived from the folly of Us. O Shamash, now that you have witnessed this folly, it is time to pass your verdict.”
A voice spoke to Azure in his mind. He thought it was Anzu like before, but it was not. The voice belonged to another person’s, someone whom he could not tell the gender.
“Has it any use now that so many lives have been taken?”
He replied, but to the eyes of others beside him, he seemed to be just staring at the kingdom which has just become a gigantic burial ground.
“Yes,” the voice replied.
“Of what use can be it to the world now, my hatred and grief?”
“You can do a lot more. You did not obtain what you have now by chance. Everything has been chosen right at the start. You chose the path I gave to you, and so you will see it to the end.”
“My path?”
“I see… Your perceptions of the world are not enough. I shall speak once more till then when you are ready. I will be waiting for that day…”
The voice faded away, and Azure returned his mind to the reality. He had a queer feeling up in his chest, but he spoke to no one about it. What that voice told was ominous. Does she mean that the worse is yet to come?
He dare not think about it.
“Azure! Lilith!”
A familiar voice shouted from behind --- It was Red, and she was alone.
