“T-thank you, Juhna…”
Scarlet remembered how he had wanted to kill Gunter and Kazo during their raid in the Giant’s lands, and he is deeply ashamed of his actions. Now that the Giants are free from their cages too, he is awaiting his punishment from them.
”Elder Kongi, I---“
“Damask von Weiss, we will get back at you when we get out of here. Not now.”
Elder Kongi’s words had no anger nor is he showing any pardoning of Scarlet’s sins. But as he had said, something ominous is going on in the other laboratory where Azure was held, and it was so serious that not one sentinel cared about their escape.
“Gunter, what’s happening on the other side?”
“I don’t know,” the Juhna said, “But it’s definitely not a good omen.”
************************************************************************************
Lilith let go of his hands out of her instincts. She could feel that the Azure in her eyes now is actually another person. It was the same feeling every time she sees his Mu. No, his powers are not Mu at all…
With all his restraints breaking into tiny pieces by his overflowing energy, Azure got up on his feet slowly. His eyes were closed and his face emotionless, but he was emanating a dangerous aura.
A blue circle of light formed by ancient symbols materialized under his feet as he contacted the cold tiled floorings, generating with it an eerie wind not from any gaps in this concealed laboratory.
“Humans… Juhnas… Giants… Kurts…”
Azure spoke in an airy manner as he forced everybody in the lab to bow their heads down to him with a sudden increase in air pressure.
“We created the seeds and sowed them with bliss; this is what they do to repay us: By killing each other, and having blades on each others’ necks.”
“What are you…?”
Ignoring the perils, King Schwartz questioned the entity in Azure’s body. Then, as if to answer his question, the bluish energy formed a translucent covering around him. Bit by bit, the covering shaped itself into a humanoid figure and eventually came off from Azure like a floating formless soul.
It continued to disintegrate and then remodel itself; ultimately the details soon became visible. Slender digits with well-chiseled nails, long tresses almost reaching the floorings, and a willowy body the shape of a female…
Colors then endorsed the translucent soul by tinting her mane an azure blue, her unclad skin fair, her lips cherry and also shading her into a tangible entity. Even in the eyes of Red, the entity’s magnificence is beyond the world.
She was hovering as if disallowing her feet to be contaminated by the world she created.
“Insolent fools…”
Blue feathers appeared out of nowhere and stirred up a small cyclone around her before attaching onto her back as two huge wings. From there, smaller pinions sprouted and curled along the celestial’s shapely torso like a feathered top.
Velvet tattoos denoting an undecipherable language appeared and spiraled its way from her white dress all the way to her neck, imprinting every character of the words along its way.
Then, she held up her right hand elegantly, and with a snap from her fingers, the entire area surround Schwartz and the others completely pulverized.
Just pulverized.
Everything happened within that very instant.
The hundred-leveled Metropolis is no more: its concrete structure was turned into fine powder, grinded by the goddess’ mere two fingers and then blown by a strong zephyr into nothingness.
And it happened so fast that nobody knew how to react to the sudden disappearance of the building they were in.
There were no screams yet, as the people who were originally above ground level were being blasted away by an unseen force. For Schwartz, Lilith, Red and the others who were in the basement, they were unharmed…
Physically unharmed but mentally impaired by the horror they are facing.
As Lilith looked up at the cloudy skies which hid every single ray from the sun, she could see the goddess levitating effortlessly with her gigantic wings, with Azure right beside her. His green Juhnan armor is gone, and magically replacing it were the very first white robes he wore when they first met.
“Come… Shamash… Open your eyes and see this corrupted world for yourself….”
Azure’s eyelids battered, and then rose to reveal his sky blue eyes. He is finally awake, with all his fragmented memories pieced back together once more.
“How do you see this world?” Ishtar questioned, “This pathetic world…”
Azure remembered how he was treated as a slave, and how he was being sent close to execution. Nothing else mattered now, as these are the only things in his fogged mind.
”The Humans misused their intelligence and set to break the balance in the world… Oppressing the others and seizing the rights of living… ”
Upon receiving his answer, Ishtar clapped her hands like a dancer, causing her gold bangles to produce a sound.
Crevasses formed in the sky like a broken mirror, and as its wrecked pieces began to fall, a large crack the size of a small town was revealed.
Lancelot, together with the others, was shocked beyond words.
”Marvelous… …simply…. Marvelous…”
King Schwartz murmured insanely with excitement while waiting for his doom.
”Carry on, Shamash,” Ishtar urged on.
“The five races of the alliance which fought against the humans were commendable. But throughout the war, their hunger for power and blood grew too…”
To Azure, they are no different from the humans.
“When there is an alternative way, they chose to shed more blood instead. If they were to win this war, another would break out amongst themselves to seek a fitting ruler of the world.”
Elder Gorgon, Poseidon and Maya gazed at the bright nova in the southern skies as they heard the eerie echoes of Azure’s accurate conclusion, unwitting to them that the nova is Azure himself.
The earth is quaking violently.
Cyclones appeared out of nowhere, and minced the innocent people into shreds.
Numerous meteors rained upon the doomed world from the crack in the sky.
Hideous monsters and beasts roused from their slumber, and went on a rampage.
Panicking citizens guilty of their crimes Azure mentioned went berserk and began killing off one another as if to seek for forgiveness from the goddess.
“Over… everything… is … over…ha….hahaha….HAHAHAHA!!”
Seeing his cities being destroyed before his eyes, diminishing all his efforts of conquest into oblivion, the insane human king abandoned his thoughts and ran towards the edge of a steep crater formed by a meteor.
“After all that I have done… all these years…. “
His swan song carried a poignant tone.
“F-father!”
For the first time in her life, Lilith called out to her biological parent, despite how much she has hated him.
Schwartz stopped for a moment abruptly in his path. For the first time in his life, his second daughter called out to him.
“What is …your name…?”
Schwartz gave a weary smile which expressed his agony instead of happiness.
”L-lilith.”
An iris and a lily. Fond memories caught up with him once again like an amulet which protects his last bit of sanity --- Memories of him and his wife Alita.
“Don’t you love my mother at all?”
Iris asked him just before she ran away with Scarlet. Not once could she understand her father’s actions, and she will never be able to. Nobody will, except Alita.
As Schwartz gazed emotionally at the destroyed lands beyond the huge crater’s cliff he has fought hard to conquer, he smiled once more.
“I told the greatest lie in the world that day,” he began his words, “and now I’ll tell her I’m sorry.”
Closing his eyes and with his arms outstretched, the king took one more step to the front. Only an inch away from a straight descent, he then leaned his torso forward to allow gravity to pull him down.
”FATHERRRRRRRRR!!!”
Lilith tried to stop him, but Red held her behind to prevent herself from getting killed by an incoming meteor from the skies.
Within that moment, sound was condemned. Even as another town was being crushed by a tornado not far away, there was only silence.
Lilith moaned in agony while the goddess who has witnessed the drama all along showed no emotions. To her, that was just another death, albeit not directly caused by her.
Azure’s emotions stirred. Something is not right. He was told to express his views about the world. He has been waiting for four thousand years for this moment to pass a judgment.
But his heart is rebelling.
