“I can’t pick you up today after work. Is it possible that you come over to my office instead?” Raymond asked.
“Alright, see you at your office then.” Myolie replied, before hanging up.
Bosco walked over and tried to start a conversation, “Is that Raymond?”
“Yeah…” Myolie mumbled, before saying, “I need to get ready for the photo-shoot. Sorry.” With that, she walked off towards the studio.
“What the hell should I do?” Bosco cursed himself.

Myolie popped her head into the room, and called out, “Raymond Lam?” But there was no one in there. She took a seat on the chair first and waited for quite some time. It was already close to seven, and the office was virtually empty now. Wondering where he had gone to, she began walking around in search for him, before she heard some muffled voices coming from a brightly-lit corner. The smile on her face disappeared immediately when Myolie caught sight of Raymond and Linda chatting and giggling happily with each other, or rather Linda attempting to flirt with Raymond with her hands moving all over Raymond’s body, in the pantry area.
“Er-Uhm.” Myolie deliberately cleared her throat loudly to make her presence known to both of them.
Raymond turned around, and smiled at the sight of Myolie, “When did you arrive?”
She looked at her watch before replying sullenly, “Exactly twenty-six minutes ago. Can we go now, Mr. Busy Ray?”
“Oh sure, let’s go,” Raymond passed his mug over to Linda and said to her softly in order to prevent Myolie from hearing it, “I’ll call you again tonight.”
On the way to retrieve Raymond’s car, Myolie was walking right ahead of Raymond, whom was trying his best to catch up with her. He had already sensed something was not right between both of them when she had ignored most of his questions, or merely giving curt replies, while he was packing up in his office.
“Hey, slow down. The things are heavy.” Raymond jogged up to join her.
“Get that lady earlier on to help you then. I bet she’s eager to do so.” Myolie shot back in sarcasm.
Raymond chuckled softly at her response. Now, he was aware what the problem was already. On the other hand, Linda was curious over the identity of the lady whom interrupted her conversation with Raymond earlier on. Was she his new catch or something? If it was so, then her initial plan to reconcile with Raymond would be thwarted.

“How about ordering the set dinner?” Raymond proposed after glancing through the menu.
Myolie put down the menu and replied, “Whatever.”
“Ah, I wonder if the set dinner has vinegar in it. I must inform the waiter to remove all vinegar from the dishes.” Raymond said, staring at Myolie.
“Why?” She questioned, looking back at him.
“There’s such a huge vinegar pot right in front of me now. Don’t you smell the strong, sour stench around here?” Raymond pretended to scan around his surroundings.
Myolie leaned forward and gave a stern glare at Raymond, “It’s not even funny, Raymond Lam. Why will I be jealous over that average-looking office lady?”
“So you’re jealous.” Raymond grinned gleefully at her.
“No, I’m not, and don’t ever mention the word ‘jealous’ in front of me again.” Myolie returned to her original position and sulked unhappily.
Raymond tried to stifle his giggles, and signaled for the waiter to take their orders. While having their meal, Raymond had chosen to remain silent, whilst Myolie kept on wondering about the identity of ‘that average-looking office lady’. Finally, her curiosity got the better of her, and she decided to ask him.
“So…” Myolie tried to sound as casual as possible, “Who’s she?”
“You mean Linda? She’s my new personal assistant.” Raymond answered.
“Linda? Sounds familiar.” Myolie thought silently, before recalling that a relative of Raymond had mentioned this name before as one of his past girlfriends when she attended his family gathering.
“Linda’s out of job recently, so I just did her a favor by offering her this position. She’s really capable and smart, so my workload actually lessened with her around in the office.” Raymond added on.
“Oh really? What if I’m your personal assistant instead? Will I be better than her?” Myolie asked, staring hard at Raymond.
Raymond slowly bit on his food, and answered with extreme caution, “Well, I think you’ll definitely be better than her. In fact, you’re the best.” With that, he flashed a goofy grin at Myolie.
She finally had a smile on her face for the first time tonight, “Actually, I think so too.” And, she returned to finishing her meal peacefully.
Raymond secretly heaved a sigh of relief when the atmosphere between both of them had eased. Was she worried that Linda may come in between both of them? Somehow, he found it strange since he thought that Myolie did not like him at all. Maybe every woman is born to be jealous, he concluded.

“Myo…I…I…like…you.” Bosco stuttered in front of the mirror, before shaking his head in despair. He could not do that. It was too direct, and might scare Myolie off further. Feeling frustrated, he slumped onto his bed and gave a heavy sigh. But he knew that the avoidance method, which Myolie was using, was not a solution in the long-run. Just when he wanted to call Myolie, his cell phone rang, and the caller-ID displayed Myolie’s name.
“Hello?” He answered the call.
But there was no reply. All he heard was soft cries on the other line.
“Myo? Are…are you alright?” Bosco was clueless over the situation.
“Yeah…I’m sorry for calling. It’s just that…I just called you naturally. Sorry…” She mumbled in between sobs.
“Where are you now?” He asked concerned.

She sat on the bench near the pier, feeling the cool sea breeze blowing in her face. Gradually, her mood seemed to lighten a bit, even though her mind was still filled with anger and disappointment…
*Flashback*
“So where were you yesterday evening?” Myolie questioned again.
Raymond gave his usual answer as before, “I was entertaining some clients. I’m really sorry for not being able to turn up for dinner with your family.”
“Are you sure?” She asked.
Raymond nodded his head, “What’s wrong with you today? You kept asking me this question repeatedly since our dinner just now.”
Myolie took in a deep breath, and walked away from Raymond. He completely had no idea what her tantrum was about this time.
“Come on, what’s happening? Stop being like this. It freaks me out.” Raymond caught up with her.
“Why must you lie?” She turned to face him, glaring straight into his eyes.
Raymond felt his heart skipped a beat, and gave a weak laughter, “Lie? About what?”
“Well, if you hadn’t known, Raymond Lam, your ever-so-good personal assistant had already told me about your little, secretive visit to her home yesterday evening, instead of your ‘entertaining clients’ bullshit.” Myolie shot at him in both sarcasm and fury.
Raymond blinked his eyes in disbelief. He had not expected Myolie to find out, since he originally wanted to keep this matter from her after experiencing her ‘jealousy bout’ over hiring ex-girlfriend, Linda, a week ago. Raymond did not wish for such trivial matters to affect their relationship anymore, thus he covered up the truth with another excuse, which he thought Myolie would not find suspicious at all.
“I…” Raymond tried to find the correct words to explain, “I didn’t mean to lie. If I told you the truth, you would definitely flare up again. Linda’s ex-boyfriend harassed her again, and she phoned me for help, so I went over to check on her. Seriously, I really wanted to attend the dinner with your family…but…but…Linda needed help, so I…”
“Yah, yah…So are you planning to lie to me every time you’re going to meet up with her for both of your secretive dates? Raymond Lam, can you get any more ridiculous?” Myolie brushed off the tears streaming down her cheeks.
“No, I don’t mean that,” Raymond was becoming a little uptight in trying to get his message to Myolie, “I…I was just afraid that you’ll be unhappy. I didn’t want us to quarrel again over such unimportant issues. It’s not as if I was having an affair with Linda. You’re always picking on both of us ever since you knew that she was my personal assistant.”
Myolie nodded her head, “Yes, so now it’s my fault. Now I see you clearly, Raymond Lam. So you’re this kind of person.” With that, she turned around and walked off.
Raymond quickly followed behind her, “Listen, Myolie. I know why you’re so pissed off. I promise…I promise to stay away from Linda from now onwards, okay? Other than office work, I won’t even stare at her for one second, okay? Please stop this argument now, shall we?”
Myolie stopped in her track, and said coldly, “Do you know what kind of person I hate most?” Turning around to face him, she glared at him behind the teary eyes, “People who aren’t honest with me, and…people whom have no idea what they had done wrong. I loathe…and despise them.”
Raymond stood there in silence as he watched Myolie stormed off in tears. After hearing her words, he had no courage to chase after her. He felt as if he had aggravated the situation.
*End of Flashback*
Bosco hastened his steps after getting out from his car. He scanned around the pier area before seeing Myolie sitting alone on the bench. She looked pretty upset and tired. Walking up to her, he saw the redness in both of her eyes.
“Did…Did you drink?” He asked, as he sat down beside her.
Myolie looked up and gave a weak smile, “Why? Do I smell of alcohol profusely?”
“What happened?” He asked concerned, knowing fully that Myolie was not someone whom would binge in alcohol.
Instinctively, she laid her head on Bosco’s shoulder, because she did not wish for Bosco to see her tears, her misery, her pain. Likewise, Bosco did not force Myolie to say anything. He just sat there, lending his shoulder to her, just like in the past whenever she was unhappy. All he knew was that his sleeve would be partially wet from her tears.
“Sorry, Bosco.” She finally broke the silence.
“What for?” He asked.
“I don’t know. For the past few weeks, I had been avoiding you at all costs. But now, I came to look for you myself. Don’t I look ridiculous?” She said.
“Of course you don’t. I’m actually happy that you find me. I’m very happy, Myo.” Bosco answered truthfully.
Myolie lifted her head from his shoulder, and looked at Bosco, “Why? I mean…if I were you, I’ll be upset at having such a friend.”
Bosco gently stroked Myolie’s hair, staring fondly into her eyes, “Because…because I’m happy to be your friend. It is okay with me even if you just looked me up as your last resort, or because I’m more ‘convenient’. At least you did think of me as your friend. I’m happy with that already, so don’t…Just forget completely about the issue that I like you. Let’s just be good friends, like in the past.”
She looked away sadly, “Why…why are you always so good towards me? I don’t seem to treat you the same way like you do to me. Why do you like me, Bosco?”
Bosco hesitated for a while, before replying, “For me, if I like someone, I’ll treat the person well. Even if she doesn’t like me, it’s okay, because I just wish to treat her well. I don’t hope to have anything in return from her, well maybe, just a smile from her. To see her happy is my greatest motivation.”
Myolie silently wiped away the tears which were forming in her eyes. Turning to face Bosco, she tried to put on a smile for him, “Is this better now?”
Bosco smiled back in return, and gently pecked on her forehead, “Don’t be unhappy anymore, okay?”
She nodded her head, and erased all thoughts in her mind now. She just wanted to enjoy the serenity with Bosco, even if it was only for a second.

Raymond was in a foul mood after the argument with Myolie. He had repeatedly tried to reach her through her phone but there was no answer, so it was pretty evident that she was still furious. Sitting in his car, he began wondering about her words earlier on. He had already apologized umpteen times. Yes, it was true that he should not have lied, but he did not wish to infuriate so he chose to hide the truth. Just then, he caught sight of a florist shop right across the street.
“Well, I’m a man. An apology won’t hurt or kill me.” He said to himself, before going over to the florist shop.

“Have you quarreled with Raymond?” Bosco hit the nail right on the spot.
She nodded her head, as they walked down the pier.
“We…we argued over his lie. I fully understand that his intention was harmless, but still, his action still hurt me, and he isn’t even aware of it. He told me that he lied because he was afraid that I would be angry. Yes, I won’t deny that I may be unhappy over such a decision he made, but what I was furious was that he doesn’t have trust in our relationship at all. He doesn’t trust me. He would rather cover up with a lie than come clean with me.” Myolie related, feeling the anger returning again.
“I understand why he did that.” Bosco said.
Myolie frowned, but listened on to see what Bosco had to say.
“Because of love. Because…he loves you. So he’s anxious and worried about your reactions. I’m not saying that I approve of his actions, just that I understand his reason behind it.” Bosco continued his explanation.
Myolie was deep in thought. Well, Bosco’s words seemed to make some sense.
“So, how about forgiving him for once? You will forgive him, am I right?” Bosco smiled.
She deliberated for a moment, “I think so.”

“Flowers. Chocolates. And a teddy bear. Alright, her anger should be appeased when she sees these gifts.” Raymond grinned at the stuff placed on the passenger seat beside him.
Looking at his watch, he began wondering why Myolie was not home yet. It was getting close to midnight already. At that moment, he saw Myolie’s image from his rear-mirror, and quickly grabbed onto those gifts, preparing to get down. However, Raymond stopped immediately when he saw another person appearing beside Myolie. It was Bosco. Both of them were all smiles and chatting happily together. It seemed as if she had completely forgotten about their fierce argument hours ago. Placing those gifts back onto the passenger seat, Raymond watched on at the couple silently.
“Well, thanks for the company tonight anyway. I really appreciate it.” Myolie said.
Bosco ruffled her hair, and laughed, “Stop thanking me. It’s already the fifth time you said it. Get a good night’s sleep, and don’t think too much, alright?”
“Okay, goodnight.” She answered, and went into her house, whilst Bosco drove off after ensuring that she was safely back in her home.
Raymond gripped onto the steering wheel tightly, and tried to control his tears.
“Have you forgotten, Raymond Lam? She likes Bosco, have you forgotten that?” He murmured.
Grabbing onto the gifts meant for Myolie, Raymond got out of the car and dumped them into the rubbish bin nearby, before returning to his car and drove home.
