“It’s over.” Bosco mumbled as he slumped onto the sofa, staring at the bunch of keys in front of him. Crestfallen and defeated, Bosco closed his eyes, as the tears started flowing down his cheeks, and soon, he buried his face in his hands as stifled cries filled the apartment that fateful morning.
“This will be the last time,” Bosco told himself mentally, “After this, I’ll never shed a tear again. I’ll learn to let go of her, forget everything about her, and also……stop loving her.”

“Hey, I don’t think you call me out just to watch you drink coffee, am I right?” Sharon knocked lightly on the table to get Myolie’s attention.
Myolie snapped out from her daze, “Oh, sorry, I was thinking about Bosco…”
“Bosco dropped by my place last night, looking all flustered and…well, very flustered…” Sharon leaned forward towards her friend, “Did something happen between both of you?”
“Yeah, I think it’s something big. What do you feel if I am to break up with Bosco?” Myolie asked.
Sharon raised an eyebrow in doubt, before declaring her opinion, “If you’re going to do that, I’ll be the first person to object…strongly.” Seeing no response from Myolie, Sharon went on to say, “I don’t wish for you to regret in future, that’s all. But…but don’t you think you’ve gone too far by doing so?”
“Why…why do you say so?” Myolie mumbled.
“Have you forgotten why you’re together with Bosco in the first place? You wanted him to help you. Well, later on, in a way, he did help you, and now that you’re on good terms with Raymond again, you ‘kicked’ him aside. Throughout the relationship, have you ever considered Bosco’s feelings at all, or do you just think about your own? Truthfully speaking, if you aren’t my friend, I may have taught you a lesson on behalf of Bosco.” Sharon explained, feeling a little irritable at her friend’s insensitivity.
Many thoughts ran through Myolie’s mind after hearing Sharon’s opinion, and somehow, she felt extremely guilty at the moment, having ‘made use’ of Bosco and dumping him later on. Now, she was seriously regretting treating Bosco like this. He definitely deserved better after all that he had done for her all along. Just then, her cell phone rang, and she quickly picked it up after seeing the person’s name on the Caller ID Display.
“Alright,” She said, “I’ll see you in twenty minutes then.”
“Who’s that?” Sharon asked after Myolie had hung up.
“Some work-related matters,” Myolie covered up, before paying the bill, “I got to run now. Talk to you again!” With that, she quickly exited the café.
“Hey, think over carefully what I said earlier on, Myolie Wu!” Sharon shouted out after her.

When Myolie arrived at the beach around half an hour later, Raymond was already sitting there on the sand, facing the vast ocean in front of him. As she began to stroll slowly towards Raymond, her thoughts started to wander over to her past relationship with Raymond.
Their relationship did not have any strong foundation to start with – only a contract which brought them together. Neither party had expected to have fallen for each other so easily, but they did not reject this feeling of love which gradually developed during the course of dating. They had their fair share of happy times, and of course, fierce arguments, but never did they ever contemplate about splitting up. Well, it was not until Raymond started to have doubts about her love for him, and selfishly backed out so that he would not be hurt. At that point of time, Bosco stepped in and lent her his shoulder as always, slowly bringing the smile and happiness back to her once again. Yes, it was Bosco. It always had been Bosco. If it had not been for Bosco, she and Raymond would probably have never met, yet alone, fallen in love……
“Myo?” Raymond’s voice disrupted her thoughts, as he stared at Myolie whom was standing behind him.
She walked over, and sat down beside him. “So why did you call me here?” She asked.
“Oh…” Raymond had actually just wanted to see Myolie, not having any particular reason, “I…I wanted to check if you’re alright. Are you okay now?”
She smiled at him, “Yeah, I’m extremely alright. Are you satisfied with this answer?”
Raymond let out a soft laugh, and nodded his head. Silence followed, as both of them listened onto the gentle splashes of the waves out in the sea. Even though they had so much to tell the other party, it seemed that they understood each other’s thoughts, even without speaking at all. Raymond turned over and gazed fondly at Myolie, before reaching over to hold onto her hand. She looked at him in surprise, but did not push his hand away.
“Let’s go.” He grinned, taking her nearer towards the sea.
“What are you trying to do, Raymond Lam?” She asked, but before she knew it, Raymond had already playfully splashed some seawater on her. Giggles could be heard from him, as Myolie tried to shield herself and at the same time, retaliate back. “Ouch! No…my precious hair!” Raymond tried to force Myolie to let go, as her other hand was splashing the seawater right into his face as hard as she could. Suddenly, he turned and lifted Myolie onto his shoulder, swinging her around despite pleas from her to stop it. Raymond accidentally lost his footing, and both of them fell onto the shore, laughing with all their might. He peeped over at Myolie, whom also turned to look at him, and they found themselves unable to take their eyes off each other.
“I’m sorry.” Raymond broke away from the gaze first and quickly stood up before walking away.
Myolie got up as well. She was aware that the apology from him was actually intended for Bosco, because even she herself felt apologetic towards Bosco for doing this to him. Gripping onto her wet jeans, Myolie found that she could not deny this feeling anymore, and walked up to Raymond, before wrapping her arms around his waist from the back. Raymond stopped in surprise, as one of his hands slowly moved up to hold onto her arms, leaning his head slightly backwards to touch hers, before shutting his eyes where tears were starting to form within them.
A tear gradually trickled down her face, as she gently whispered to him, “I love you.”
It seemed like a long moment of silence, before Raymond opened his teary eyes, and told her, “I love you too.”

Bosco played with the pen in his hand, whilst staring down at the piece of paper in front of him. Taking in a deep breath, Bosco finally made up his mind and put down his signature on it. He would be going off to the States for a 4-month long training program. It had been a week since he last saw Myolie, because he told her that he needed some time alone, and she agreed to it. Well, during the past week, he really did spend most of his time pondering on both of them, and fortunately, he managed to sort out his thoughts with some help from Sharon. She had told him about her short meeting with Myolie, and gave him some of her opinions gotten from the meeting.
“Obviously, she feels guilty,” That was the first thing Sharon mentioned, before going on, “She probably won’t return to Raymond after hearing what I said to her.”
“So that means her choice will be me?” Bosco questioned.
Sharon nodded her head, “But you must reject her, Bosco. That silly girl thinks that by doing so, you won’t be hurt then, but come on, that’s not love at all!”
Bosco thought for a moment, “You’re right. The man she loves is Raymond, not me. It’ll be useless if we continue to be together. In the end, three of us will suffer together.”
“Yes, that’s right,” Sharon said, “But you still shouldn’t make it so easy for her as well. Her guilt towards you is her weakness. Torture her on her weakness; make her feel as much guilt as possible; let her know never to mess with you again. In this way, I think you may feel much better.”
Bosco stared at Sharon in shock, with his mouth half-open, “That’s…really…really evil…”
Sharon then leaned closer towards Bosco, “But you must never tell her that this suggestion is from me. It’s a secret between both of us.” She winked at him, before chuckling mischievously.

“Bosco!” Myolie called out his name, walking hastily towards him.
Bosco turned and waved to her, before beckoning for her to join him on the bench.
“You look great today.” She commented after seeing the radiant smile on his face again.
“Really? Thanks.” Bosco said.
“Oh yes, I got something to show you,” Myolie spoke as she took out some pamphlets from her handbag, “I dropped by the tour agency yesterday and thought of us having a holiday together. Are you interested in it? Korea? Japan?”
Bosco took those pamphlets from her, and looked at them before saying, “Well, I’ve already planned to return to the States again.”
“Oh?” Myolie was slightly taken aback by his sudden decision before regaining her composure, “Okay, the States will be fine with me as well. Are we…”
“It’ll only be me. I’m going there alone. And no, I don’t wish for you to come with me.” Bosco cut in before Myolie finished talking.
Myolie stared at Bosco in confusion, not knowing how to respond. Bosco saw it, and gently grabbed hold of her hand, before looking straight into her eyes.
“I think it’s time for me to let go, Myo. As much as I don’t wish to, but I know that I must let go of you, because you don’t belong to me.” Bosco spoke tenderly, trying to hide his unwillingness away from her, and slowly, he began to release his grip on her hand.
“But Bosco…I…” Myolie was lost for words.
Bosco reached over to wipe the tears away from her cheek, “Don’t cry. I’m perfectly fine. Do you still remember that you once told me that you’ll try your best to like me as well? Now, having given some serious thought, I realized that some things, no matter how hard one may try, may still not work out after all. So, I never blame you, nor do I think it is Raymond’s fault.”
Just as Myolie was about to say something, Bosco interrupted again, “And also, most importantly, don’t ever say ‘sorry’ to me.” Upon hearing that, she closed her mouth and looked down on the ground.
“Why are you still so good to me?” Myolie finally asked after a long moment of silence.
“Well, do I have to treat you differently now that we aren’t together anymore?” Bosco smiled amusingly before continuing, “We’re still best friends, aren’t we? There’s nothing wrong in treating my best friend well.”
Myolie smiled for the first time in this conversation, “Yeah, you’re my best-est friend in my life. But Bosco, are you really alright?”
“If you ask me this question a week ago, it would be a ‘no’, because I was really upset and miserable,” Bosco answered, “But now…now, the pain is much lesser compared to the earlier week, and I believe as each day goes by, it’ll be less painful compared to the previous day. Soon enough, I’ll be completely ‘healed’.”
Myolie asked, “Then is there anything else that I can do for you?”
Bosco stood up from the bench and stretched his arms out, before taking in a deep breath, “Yes actually, I’m wondering before we part, can I have a last request?”
Myolie got up as well, and nodded her head. Bosco turned around and faced her, having a weak smile on his face. Stepping forward, he wrapped his arms around Myolie for the last time as her boyfriend. Bosco shut his eyes, and spoke out in his heart, “You must have happiness in future, Myo.” After a long while, Bosco stepped back and muttered ‘thanks’ to her. Biding farewell, both of them then walked off in different directions, and neither of them turned back to look at the other party.

[4 Months Later…]
“Geez, you’re late, Bosco Wong.” Sharon chided as Bosco took the seat opposite her.
Bosco apologized immediately, “Sorry, I overslept. It must be the jet lag.”
“Oh, it’s alright, because there’s someone else who’s absurdly later than you.” Sharon shrugged off nonchalantly.
Just then, Myolie hurried into the café, looking both exhausted and flustered.
“Sorry guys. So terribly sorry.” Myolie repeatedly apologized.
“We almost thought you got kidnapped on the way here.” Sharon said in sarcasm.
Bosco chuckled at the two ladies, before getting a glass of water for Myolie, “Drink this, and calm down.”
Myolie gulped down the glass of water thirstily whilst keeping her eyes fixed on Bosco, “When did you return?”
“Yesterday morning.” Bosco answered.
“Great! Please come back to work soon.” Myolie requested in a pleading tone, before going on, “The assistant, whom you got for me as your temporary replacement, simply irritates the hell out of me. She just keeps stepping on my toes.”
Bosco laughed, “She can’t be that bad. I even thought that you’ll click well with her. But then, if I do return, do I get a pay raise?”
“You should be honored that I’m willing to take you back, Bosco Wong.” Myolie stuck out her tongue playfully at him.
Bosco pinched on her nose gently and smiled, “Oh yes, indeed I am.”
“Oh guys, stop it!” Sharon rolled her eyes at both of them, “I’m not invisible, for goodness sake.”

Raymond stretched his arms and yawned softly. Looking at his watch, he realized that it was close to 10pm already.
“Oh damn,” He cursed under his breath, “I’m going to be late.” With that, he quickly packed up his stuff, and left the office hurriedly.
Raymond parked his car near an apartment building, and proceeded to enter into the building.
“Hey Mr. Lam, back from work?” The security guard greeted him.
“Yeah, I’m supposed to be home for supper.” Raymond smiled in return, before entering into the elevator.
Stepping into his apartment unit, Raymond did not find anyone in the living room, before he heard a piercing shriek coming from the kitchen. Putting down his briefcase, Raymond hurried into the kitchen and found two crabs crawling on the floor.
“Honey, what are you doing?” Raymond looked over at the flustered Myolie.
Myolie was standing on the chair now, apparently afraid of the crabs on the floor. “Crabs on the loose, Dear. Do you mind catching them back?” She gave him a weak smile and pointed to the floor.
With little effort, Raymond caught and placed them back with the rest of the crabs in the sink. Myolie quickly got down from the chair, and moved over to join Raymond. “I was just trying to whip out some supper for you.” She looked down at those crabs guiltily. Raymond chuckled at her, before grabbing the other apron hung on the wall, “Alright, let me help you then.” Within minutes, Raymond had finished cooking the supper, and both of them were enjoying it at the dining table.
“So this was the surprise you’re talking about this morning?” Raymond asked.
Myolie nodded, “Yeah, so are you surprised?”
“More like a shock to me,” Raymond giggled, whilst Myolie pouted unhappily at his reply, before he continued, “But then, I’m really touched that you’re willing to try to prepare supper for me. Didn’t you state before that I’m supposed to be the chef of this family, and that you’ll never cook?”
Myolie stuttered, “Well…I…I was bored, so I decided to prepare supper for you.”
“Oh,” Raymond said before moving closer to Myolie, “I’m kind of bored too, how about trying out something fun later tonight?”
Myolie turned to scrutinize Raymond in suspicion, “Fun? No fun, I’ve got a project early tomorrow morning. I don’t wish to be late.”
Raymond was disappointed at her answer, and returned to eating his crabs. Myolie smiled at her husband’s childishness, “Oh well, but I think we can always try it out tomorrow night if you want.” With that, Raymond’s face lit up and nodded his head rapidly as they continued their supper meal.
“Ray, do you…” Myolie walked into their bedroom after her shower, but found Raymond to be fast asleep already.
“Geez, he even told me that he’ll give me a massage after my bath, and now, he’s sleeping like a pig,” Myolie got onto the bed and began tapping on Raymond’s face, “Wakey, wakey dear…” However, Raymond did not respond at all, and Myolie decided to give up, making a mental note to ‘punish’ him tomorrow.
Just as Myolie wanted to switch off the table lamp, she glanced up at the wedding portrait of both of them, being hung right above their king-sized bed. The happy memories of their wedding preparation 2 months ago started to replay in her mind right now, as she stared fondly at the blissful smiles on both of them. Looking over to a smaller photo frame beside their wedding portrait, Myolie could not help but smile at the sight of it. Even though it was already a torn and tattered piece of paper, it was still very significant to the couple. She recalled that she had insisted on framing it up despite some small missing pieces, but before that, she deliberately added some new clauses and amended some old ones to the existing contract, and Raymond was being ‘forced’ by her to abide to her rules.
“Honey,” Raymond rubbed his eyes and looked at her, “Why aren’t you sleeping yet?”
Myolie snapped out from her daze, and climbed back onto the bed. Switching off the table lamp, she turned to lie in Raymond’s arm, as both of them began to doze off in the silent night. For many years to come, both of them would be bounded in each other’s love, and lived happily ever after.
