“Well, do you believe in true love?” Raymond asked.
She shook her head.
“Me neither.” He added.
“So?” She frowned.
Raymond leaned forward towards Myolie, and grinned, “The fun element of this love contract is to see which of us will be the first person to fall for the other party. As usual, the loser will do everything at the winner’s bidding. But you don’t have to worry, even if you lose eventually, I won’t be too hard on you. I’ve already thought of the best and most satisfying compensation.”
“I will ensure that I won’t lose,” She looked at him with extreme confidence, “because I’m going to make you pay the price for embarrassing me during yesterday’s incident. What punishment should I implement?” She thought hard for a while, “Oh yes, it’ll be interesting to make you into a monk. No women and no meat for the rest of your life.”
Raymond’s mouth opened slightly and commented softly, “Wow, you’re so evil.”
Myolie examined the terms and conditions stated on the contract:
Love Contract
Parties Involved: Raymond Lam Fung (27) and Myolie Wu Hang Yee (24)
Validity: 3 Months (1st April 2007 – 1st July 2007)
Terms and Conditions:
-During this contract period, each party is only allowed to be dating the other party, and no one else. They are deemed to be a real dating couple.
-No intimacy will be allowed between both parties, unless the occasion or situation calls for it.
-Each party must fulfill the other party’s family obligations like gatherings and functions. Proper behavior is compulsory.
-Both parties must fulfill at least 21 hours of ‘dating time’ with each other.
-Other than relationship and romance matters, each party must not interfere, in any way, in the other party’s life and social circle.
-Punishment of any kind shall be initiated by one party, should the other party breaks any of the above-mentioned terms.
-When the contracts ends: 1) Myolie Wu doesn’t fall in love with Raymond Lam [Raymond Lam is entitled to compensate Myolie Wu]. 2) Myolie Wu falls in love with Raymond Lam [Myolie Wu is entitled to compensate Raymond Lam].
“If there’s no problem with this contract, just sign your name here.” He said gleefully.
She glanced through it once again, and put down her signature. After that, they exchanged basic information about themselves and their families like birthdays and more.
“I can’t wait for the day to witness your tonsure ceremony, Raymond Lam.” She smirked with arrogance before standing up to leave.
“We shall see. You'll definitely fall for me first.” He grinned, and placed the contract in a safe location.
Once she stepped outside his office, she began pondering about her earlier actions, “I must be crazy as well to be playing this game with him.”

When Myolie reached outside her home, she found Bosco to be waiting for her there in his car.
“Are you alright? You look tired.” He commented as Myolie approached him.
She leaned against the car and let out a soft yawn, “I’m fine. I still got a huge battle ahead to fight. I definitely want to win and teach him a lesson for messing with me.”
“Who? Is it Raymond Lam?” Bosco asked, standing beside her now.
“Who else other than him? Ugh, now my reputation is all gone. He always wants to take advantage of me.” Myolie grumbled unhappily.
Bosco pondered for a while before asking, “So are those reports true? Are both of you dating now? And also, that night of the blind date, both of you ended up at the hotel, am I right?”
“No…” That was Myolie’s immediate answer, but she stopped and corrected herself, “I mean yes. Raymond and I are together now.” She remembered about signing the contract a few hours ago at his office.
Upon hearing the confirmation from Myolie, Bosco tried to hide his disappointment behind the forced smile on his face, “So it’s true. Well, I believe it’s better than being with Wong Hei.” After saying that, he looked down on the ground with a solemn expression.
However, Myolie failed to notice Bosco’s change in mood, as his words reminded her that she had not spoken to Wong Hei about their relationship yet.
“I suddenly remembered that I got something to do. I’ll contact you again, Bosco. Sorry to keep you waiting here just now.” She said, before walking into the house.
“Why are you always so oblivious to my feelings? Am I really that unimportant in your heart?” Bosco mumbled with a tinge of sadness in his voice.

“Hey, you’re home. Dad wishes to speak to you. He’s in the study room now.” Bowie informed once Raymond came home.
“Where’s Wong Hei?” Raymond asked, looking around the house.
“He’s in the hospital with Christine.” Bowie answered before disappearing into the kitchen.
Raymond knocked on the door, before receiving the signal to enter.
“Dad, are you looking for me?” Raymond asked.
“Take a seat here.” Lam Yu pointed to the sofa at the corner of the study room, “I just talked to Uncle Wu on the phone a moment ago. Are you really dating his daughter now? It’s not a game or anything, Ray. To be in a relationship with Miss Wu, you must be serious and responsible towards her, and not be as playful with the other women like in the past.”
“Yes, Dad. Both of us have reached a consensus that we’re in an absolutely serious relationship, so please don’t worry about us.” Raymond assured, wearing a smile on his face.
Lam Yu laughed and patted on his son’s back, “That’s good! Bring her home one day for dinner. Oh, how about inviting her to our family’s gathering? Show her around and allow her to familiarize with our relatives and family friends.”
Raymond let out a weak laughter, “Is it a little too early for that? We just got together not long ago, Dad.” Raymond was afraid that with Myolie’s personality and attitude, she would disgrace him instead during the family gathering. Moreover, it would not be nice if she was to meet Wong Hei, and he wanted to avoid that awkward situation.
“Ah it’s merely a family gathering. Furthermore, have you told her that we have certain special occasions as well? As your girlfriend, it’s her duty to be part of these events too.” Lam Yu said.
“Yah I know that, Dad, but…” Raymond wanted to reject again.
“No buts. It shall be settled then. Bring her over for our family gathering next Sunday.” Lam Yu concluded their conversation.

It was early morning. She carried a fruit basket, and walked towards the ward where Christine was in. Slowly and quietly, she crept into the room, and found both Christine and Wong Hei to be asleep. Placing the fruit basket aside, she tapped on Wong Hei’s shoulder, and signaled to him that she wanted a talk with him outside. He agreed, and they proceeded to the park downstairs.
“How’s she?” Myolie asked.
“She’s fine. The doctor said that she can be discharged tomorrow already.” Wong Hei replied.
“That’s good to hear.” She smiled.
“Myolie, I’m sorry. I promise you that I’ll get my divorce done soon. You’ll wait for me, am I right?” Wong Hei asked earnestly.
Myolie took a deep breath in before apologizing, “I’m sorry too. I don’t think we should carry on being together anymore.”
Wong Hei stopped in his track. She could see that he was shocked.
“Why? Is it because of Raymond? So those reports are true?” He gripped onto her arm and demanded with disbelief.
Myolie remained silent. She did not wish to admit that she was ‘together’ with Raymond now, because she felt that it would hurt Wong Hei further. She had already unconsciously hurt him deep enough by making use of him during their one-year relationship.
“I’m really sorry.” She whispered softly, pulling her arm away from his grip.
“No, it’s not supposed to be like this. Alright, I’ll go to the lawyer’s office now and get it done. I’ll give up trying to fight for the assets. I don’t mind starting all over again, even if it’s from the bottom.” Wong Hei tried to salvage the situation.
Myolie could not bear to watch him being so upset and miserable. Wong Hei quickly embraced her into his arms, resting his head on her shoulder, as she heard his silent sobs. After hesitating for a moment, she slowly allowed herself to hug him in return.
“Myo, please don’t leave me…” He mumbled inaudibly.
She patted on his back gently, “3 months. Wong Hei, I need 3 months, then we shall be together again.”
“Why…why 3 months?” He questioned in confusion.
“I can’t answer you now. But during these 3 months, you’ve to persuade your wife to have an amicable split instead. No quarrels, no disagreements. If you ever see me during this period of time, pretend that you don’t know me. Don’t contact me. Don’t come looking for me. Don’t even think of me. Can you do that?” Myolie asked.
Wong Hei released his hold on Myolie, and looked into her eyes. He wondered if he should believe her, since after all, he would have to keep to the promise.
“Yes.” He finally answered.
Myolie smiled at his response. Actually, she was hoping that Wong Hei could use the 3-month period to forget about her. By requesting that he split amicably with his wife, she was thinking that the couple could probably make up, since she was aware that the main reason that she was able to intrude into their relationship was the couple’s lack of communication and understanding between each other. Myolie held a slim hope that Wong Hei still loved and cared for his wife, given that he got really anxious and worried when he knew that Christine was hospitalized the day before.

Raymond was lying on the bed reading a book. All of a sudden, someone from his side grabbed the book out of his hands. Raymond got up and realized that it was Bowie.
“It’s a rare sight that you’re reading, Raymond Lam. Let me see what you’re up to.” Bowie chuckled, and looked at the title of the book.
“Give me back.” Raymond said, trying to snatch it from Bowie.
Bowie dodged in time, before laughing out loud, “Oh gosh, it’s even rarer to see our love saint reading this book – ‘1001 ways to court a girl’. Are you kidding me? Do you ever need this? It’s more for guys like me.”
“Ugh, give me back!” Raymond got irritated after being teased by Bowie.
Bowie tossed the book back at his brother, “Seriously speaking, why you need this? Is she that difficult?”
Raymond tried to act smart, “Of course not! It’s just that…just that under normal circumstances, women are always after me, but now, it’s the opposite, so I just need some reference material. With my charm and attractiveness, she’ll fall straight into my love trap.”
“Yeah, continue bragging, my brother. You look more like the one who’s going to be the victim of the love bug.” Bowie commented with sarcasm.
“Get out, and quit disturbing me if you don’t have any bright ideas to help me.” Raymond said, returning his attention on the book.
“Beware, my dear brother!” Bowie said out loud as he exited Raymond’s bedroom.
“Damn Bowie, how can I possibly be the one?” Raymond cursed, as he flipped the pages of the book, “Oh my god, why is it so difficult for me to woo after this particular woman?!”
As the night passed by, Raymond had noted down some of the most effective methods, or so he thought to be. Looking down at his calendar, he realized that it was Myolie’s mother’s birthday two days later. Should he visit her mother together with her? Picking up his cell phone, he dialed her number.
“Hel…lo?” She sounded like she was asleep.
“It’s me.” Raymond said, ignoring the fact that he had interrupted her sleep.
“Wha…t?” She asked with a slurred tone.
“I’ll swing by your home tomorrow morning. Let’s have breakfast together.” Raymond said.
“Whatever.” Myolie was uninterested.
“Alright, see you tomorrow then.” Raymond hung up, and mumbled to himself, “Geez, can’t she sound more enthusiastic?”
_______________________
It was raining heavily the following morning. Raymond had originally wanted to call off the breakfast meeting, but dismissed that thought since it was going to be their first breakfast together as a couple. Waking up earlier than usual, he dressed up well, before heading off to Myolie’s house. Despite the bad weather, Raymond was obviously in an excellent mood as he stopped his car in front of the gate.
“Ugh, I totally forgot about taking an umbrella.” Raymond muttered under his breath when he could not find the umbrella.
“Forget it; it’s just a short distance only.” With that, he quickly got out of the car, and used both of his hands to shield himself from the rain, and then pressed onto the doorbell. Not long after, he saw Melissa coming out with an umbrella, and she hit the button to unlock the gate, allowing Raymond to enter.
“Why are you here today, Raymond?” Melissa asked, as she sheltered him with the umbrella as well.
“Oh, I’m meeting Myolie for breakfast today. Is she up yet?” Raymond smiled politely.
“Myolie? She’s off to work already. Bosco came by earlier on and they went off to work together. You mean she didn’t tell you?” Melissa said with a frown.
Raymond stood there in confusion, before quickly regaining his composure. Putting on a weak smile, “Yah I think she told me. I must’ve forgotten. I’m sorry for disturbing you so early in the morning.”
Melissa sensed the awkwardness from Raymond, “Of course not! Since you’re here already, how about having breakfast with Wu Dan and me?”
Raymond nodded his head. There was a strange feeling within himself that morning. Was it anger that Myolie had completely forgotten about their breakfast date? Was it jealousy that he heard her leaving with another man? Or was it merely disappointment? He was unsure about it.

“I tried calling you last night, but it didn’t get through.” Bosco commented as he helped Myolie put on her make-up for the photo shoot.
“Oh, I was tired and went to sleep. Maybe I didn’t hear your call, since there was a dumb fool who called me earlier…” Myolie replied, before letting out a loud gasp.
“What?” Bosco asked in confusion.
“Bosco, I forgot about him!” She finally recalled.
