DING! You have reached the 18th Floor.” the voice on the elevator said as the doors opened.
For once, both Charmaine and Tavia arrived at work early. As both of them entered the office, all their colleagues turned to look at them in awe. Kevin who stared at them, mainly at Charmaine because of his secret crush on her, displayed an emotion of shock.
He said playfully, “Oh my. Has the sky fallen down or something? Or are my eyes deceiving me? The Sheh sisters are actually early for work today?!”
Instantly upon hearing that, Charmaine slapped Kevin on the back playfully, but hard enough for him to yelp slightly.
“Owwww. That’s not a way to treat your friend! You’re treating me to lunch today.”
Charmaine smiled, “You wish”.
Being around Kevin definitely lightened up her gloominess.
Kevin grinned, “Wow, you just rejected your chance to treat a handsome guy to lunch?”
Upon hearing that, the rest of the colleagues rolled their eyes and returned to their work desks. Every one of them knew that Kevin obviously had a crush on Charmaine, and they were definitely not going to stand around to watch another one of Kevin’s flirting sessions.
Charmaine smiled proudly, oblivious to Kevin's crush on herself, “Of course I wouldn’t reject treating a handsome guy to lunch, but I never knew you were one of them.”
Kevin chuckled, “Fine then, let’s stop arguing. I guess the handsome guy will have to treat the pretty girl to lunch then.”
Charmaine retorted, “You’re still not handsome!”
Kevin and Charmaine kept arguing playfully and laughing loudly until Mr. Kwok came and gave them a stern look. Charmaine instantly returned to her work desk and began working while Kevin was all giddy with happiness. He just scored a lunch date with Charmaine!

*Stevensen Apartments, 12:00 Noon*
Raymond woke up with a yawn and turned to the side to look at his alarm clock. Due to jetlag reasons, it was already noon.
“Crap!” thought Raymond. His original plans to go to Charmaine’s office and make things up were ruined by his sleepniess.
Gloomily, he walked out to the living room aimlessly. As Raymond passed by the guest room in which he could hear Ron snoring loudly, he opened the door slightly to see Ron sleeping soundly.
Raymond walked over to Ron and yanked his covers off, “Wake up sleepy head!”
Ron opened his eyes and looked sheepishly at Raymond, “I thought we didn’t have to work today…”
“Yes, but I want you to have lunch with me. I woke up late so I won’t be going to Charmaine today, like I planned.”
Ron replied, “Well, doesn’t Charmaine have a lunch break? You can go talk to her then.”
Raymond sighed, he knew Ron just wanted him to leave him alone so he could get some sleep. But, he actually thought it was a good idea to talk things over with Charmaine during her lunch break. Therefore, he left Ron alone as he continued to doze off.
Raymond drove off to the florist and bought a bouquet of red roses. As he paid the florist, he checked his watch. “Ehm.. 12:40, exactly 20 minutes till Charmaine’s lunch break. That ought to be enough time for me to reach the Queens Buildings.”
Full of determination to win Charmaine back, Raymond put his bouquet of roses in the seat next to him and drove off in his car…

*Queens Buildings, 1:02PM*
Kevin and Charmaine were in the lift as they were about to go to lunch together.
“So, where should we eat at?” asked Kevin.
Charmaine hesitated for a second and answered, “Hm… I heard that a new café opened across the street from here, we should check it out.”
“Sounds good,” answered Kevin as they approached the exit of the building and towards the zebra crossing.
When the pedestrian light turned green, both of them began to cross. Suddenly, a race car zoomed towards Charmaine. Just as the car was about to hit Charmaine, Kevin yanked Charmaine out of the way in panic. The car continued to zoom off as Kevin loudly cursed the car. Then, he turned back to Charmaine who was on the floor in agony.
Worriedly, Kevin asked, “Charmaine, Charmaine! Are you okay? The car didn’t hit you, did it? Don’t scare me!”
Charmaine pointed to her hip and ankle, “No, when you yanked me out of the way, the car bumped my hip slightly and I twisted my ankle.”
“Wait a second. I’m going to call an ambulance.”
Charmaine retorted, “No, don’t call an ambulance. I’m fine, I’m fine, just help me up.”
Kevin did so obediently by putting one arm around Charmaine’s waist and pulling her up. He let Charmaine put most of her weight on him and kept his arm around her waist as they attempted to get Charmaine home. Kevin tried to tell jokes as they walked to lighten up the mood and so that Charmaine couldn’t feel as much pain...
Just at this moment, Raymond carrying a bouquet of red roses turned the corner and met up face to face with Kevin and Charmaine who were laughing like a delighted couple.
Surprised to see him in Hong Kong, Charmaine instantly sputtered out, “Ray?”
Raymond’s eyes moved instantly down to Charmaine’s waist. To his horror, he could see Kevin’s arm wrapped tautly around her.
Kevin turned to Charmaine, “You know this guy?”
“Yea, my boyfriend. Um.. “EX” boyfriend.”
Raymond froze.
He suddenly dropped the roses onto the hard sidewalk flooring.
The woman he was trying to win back was with another man. There was no denying it now, his arm was around her waist, they were laughing simultaneously…absolutely no denial.
Raymond was at a loss of words. He turned around and ran. As he turned around, tears began cascading down his delicate cheeks. He didn’t stop running until he was back in the car. It was like his heart was shattered into a million pieces, totally heart broken.
Charmaine stood there, still leaning on Kevin involuntarily, stunned. She had no idea what just happened. Questions filled her mind. Why was Raymond in Hong Kong? Who were those roses for? Her? Then why’d he run away as soon as he saw her?
Only confusion filled her mind.

So what do you guys think? Please comment, it gives me motivation to update more frequently :)
Anyway, i'm guessing this fanfic is nearing an end soon.
Few more chapters i guess.
