Calvin shot her a vaguely curious look. “Good morning to you too. You’re awfully chirpy today.”
Selina’s face fell at surprising speed. She took a deep breath. “Listen, I really want to apologize for the whole fiasco yesterday. It is entirely my fault so please don’t take it out on Arron or Jiro. I am wholly to blame for this whole mess, and if there’s anybody that should be punished it should be me!” she started gabbling away frantically, posing like a young, brave maiden about to sacrifice herself for the good of all mankind.
Calvin just blinked, thinking to let her loose off some steam before he attempted to join in the conversation. After a few minutes however, she was still blabbering away and looked to be like she wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. So he reached out an arm to grab her left shoulder blade gently, “Whoah, take a breather. Surely you need some air after that whole mouthful,” he teased laughingly.
Selina shut her mouth obligingly and looked crestfallen.
Calvin stifled a smile, watching with some affection at her adorably woebegone expression. “First things first, why are you apologizing so desperately when I’m the one at fault here?”
She opened her mouth for a reply, but closed it again when he shook his head twice, indicating that he had yet to finish his sentence.
“I’m really sorry if I’d worried you or made you upset. I don’t generally indulge in such a show of temper. I normally have a damn better grip over my emotions,” he offered her an apologetic smile.
She stilled at that, than looked up at him carefully, struck by how utterly composed he always present himself to be. She seldom saw anything but a smile on his face. Indeed, yesterday afternoon was the one and only time she had seen a flash of true emotion divulging from his normally placid expression.
“You know Calvin,” she began slowly. “It’s alright to be yourself once in awhile.”
Calvin paused in surprise, startled at her sudden change of topic. “Come again?”
She gazed contemplatively up at him. “I mean, you don’t always have to keep that mask on you all the time. Especially when you’re away from the public. I’m sure it must be tiring to constantly have to disguise who you really are.”
Calvin cocked his head to one side, utterly confused at the direction their conversation was heading. “Are you saying I’m a hypocrite?” he asked slowly, feeling perplexed.
She looked immediately stricken. “No! No no no! I didn’t mean it that way!” she began yakking again. “Oh you must think me the nosiest, most annoying female alive! Just forget whatever I said. I was being usual, idiotic me…and…”
Calvin stifled another bout of wayward laughter, sealing the rest of her words off with a slight wave of his right hand. “Shhh.”
“What shhh?” it was her turn to look bewildered.
“Shhh stop saying you’re sorry,” he replied with a playful tap to her head. “You apologize way too much for your own good.”
Selina opened her mouth to argue his point but he only rolled his eyes, which succeeded in irritating her.
“The least you could do is accept my apologies gracefully!” she sounded disgruntled, a dimly peevish look settling across her features.
He only flashed her an endearingly lopsided grin. “Let’s rehearse our first scene, ok?”
She shot him a mutinous look to tell him she knew he was trying to change the subject. But in the end, she conceded to his wishes obediently, “Alright.”

“Here,” she said brightly, right hand outstretched, extending a plastic bag containing a Styrofoam container towards him. “I got Jon to grab you lunch too.”
Calvin looked bemused. “Not that I don’t appreciate this, but you really didn’t have to.”
Selina chewed on her lower lip softly, looking slightly chastened. “I know you said it’s not my fault, but the argument still stands that I was the one who thought up the whole idiotic plan. And I feel really guilty about it.”
Calvin sighed in exasperation. “Really Selina, I don’t blame you.”
“Just indulge in me, won’t you? I’d feel a lot better if you allow me to do something.”
Calvin reached out for the food reluctantly, “Thanks.”
She smiled, flopping daintily down beside him. “How are things going along?” she asked conversationally. “You know, with the November concert and everything?”
Fahrenheit was going to host a series of concerts around the Asian region come the end of the year, starting first in Taiwan, moving along to Hong Kong and parts of China, Singapore, and finally ending in Malaysia. It was a grand affair in the makings, with HIM spending billions and billions on the preparation process alone.
“We’re just starting with the songs selection bit. The program hasn’t really been finalized yet, though things are starting to take shape. Once HIM has everything settled, we’re going to be quite busy,” Calvin answered, wolfing down his rice.
“I think it’s going to be fantastic!” Selina said enthusiastically.
“Especially the Taipei and Nan Jing show?” Calvin asked slyly.
It was all very hush-hush and secretive but their company had recently suggested inviting SHE to appear as guest performers in Fahrenheit’s concert. Nothing had yet been confirmed, but the possibility of them showing up in the boys’ Taipei and Nan Jing stop seemed very likely indeed.
“Especially those!” she shot an equally sly smile back. “With SHE in, any performance is bound to be a sizzling blast.”
Calvin nodded his serious approval. It was nothing but the truth that SHE was the unprecedented girl group of Taiwan with stunningly amazing singing abilities. With them putting in an appearance, both shows promised to be an incredible explosion of fun and excitement.
“I was only joking,” she added after a pause.
“But it’s true nevertheless,” he replied.
She opened her mouth to protest but just then, some workers waved them over. “Pete’s ready to start the next scene!”
Calvin immediately reached out to help her to her feet, standing back to allow her to walk ahead first as he simultaneously began clearing away empty plastic bags and half-filled Styrofoam packets that they had left behind on the bench.
She glanced over her shoulders back at him, watching him cleanly depositing everything into a nearby thrash can. He looked up at her just then with a quizzical, “Did you leave something behind?”
“No, just waiting for you,” she replied, a little embarrassed at being caught staring.
“Oh,” he smiled.
She stayed silent as they made their way to the sets, primly aware of how he always made sure to discreetly steer her away from the many coils of cables and endless wires littering the floor so that she wouldn’t trip in her three-inch heels.
It was really extremely sweet of him, and she couldn’t quite squelch the odd, little jumpy feeling in her stomach every time he extended one arm to guide her through a particularly messy area.
In this modern century, male chivalry was practically non-existence, and it was really ridiculously hard to find a guy who would be willing to help you on to your feet, let alone offer an arm for assistance when you were walking together.
Calvin Chen, was simply a perfect gentleman to boot.
A gentleman who gave her very funny feelings at that.

I'm really sorry for the late update! That is, if anybody is still reading this heh.
I've just been extremely busy. With just about every aspect of my life really.
I've been typing away very hardworking-ly, just that I don't have the time to post anything up. Hahaha.
Anyway, as promised, a little more on RuXuan. Hope you all like it!
