Selina erupted into a peal of enchanting laughter. “Well, I’d be lying through my teeth if I were to deny that he is indeed a very charming guy,” she turned to flash Calvin a playfully flirtatious smile. He, in turn, returned the gesture with an equally wolfish one of his own.
She turned back to face the host of ‘Entertainment Express’. “But regarding your earlier question, I’m really enjoying acting with him, and of course with Wu Chun too. They’re both very professional people and our time together has been an absolute pleasure.”
The emcee pounced on the opening Selina had left him. “So Ella, tell me, how do you feel about your band mate rubbing shoulders so closely with Chun? Any particular feelings of jealousy? I heard they’re sharing a couple of very intimate kissing scenes in the movie!”
Ella barely blinked an eye. “Why would I be jealous? Chun and I share a purely platonic relationship. And quite frankly, I don’t see why everybody loves to think we’re carrying out and underground affair of some sort,” she lifted her hands upward in a gesture of helplessness.
“So you’re not against it if Selina and Wu Chun really do decide to start dating each other?”
Chun shifted, looking ready to protest such an obviously intrusive question, but Ella merely shrugged. “It is their prerogative after all. I actually think they make a lovely couple,” she pretended to wiggle her eyebrows across at Selina, whose expression remained impassive.
Calvin, noticing how tensed the atmosphere had begun to feel, leapt in, desperate to avoid any rumours from spinning. “I would be utterly devastated if Chun really does manage to snatch up Selina. She’s the epitome of every guy’s dream and it’d be a pity if she ends with the likes of Chun!” he injected a teasing note in his tone and shot his band mate a smirk, hoping the big guy would play along.
Chun did not fail. He rolled his eyes, “Calvin’s just jealous because he knows I’m more appealing to the girls.”
The awkwardness subsided a little under a pool of amused laughter as everybody smiled at Calvin’s mock expression of outraged.
Calvin sighed quietly to himself, another fifteen more minutes and the interview would be over. He couldn’t wait.
He glanced discreetly to his right, noting down Selina’s frozen smile and glassy-eyed look. She had been visibly distressed when the host insisted on keeping up his barrage of questions regarding Chun’s and Ella’s ‘relationship’. He could well understand her concern.
It was enough that the show choreographer had decided to change the sitting arrangements at the very last second (Selina and Ella were initially supposed to be seated together, but in the end El had ended up with Chun on another couch clear across the room from where Cal and Sel were stationed), but the questions Jin, the host, had asked had been nosily invasive and disturbingly pushy.
He had to give El props though. She had remained professionally aloof throughout the course of the gruelling interview, not divulging even a flicker of her real emotions. That woman was a born actress.
“El can take care of herself. Don’t worry,” he whispered when he saw that the emcee’s attention temporarily wavered from them.
She turned to look at him, the question clear in her meltingly liquid brown eyes.
“Your face is like an open book,” he clarified.
She paused, obviously thinking of a suitable reply. After a few moments of silence on her part, she granted him a tiny little smile. “I know she’s quite capable of looking after herself. But it’s just hard to sit by, knowing she’s hurting from all that even though she looks perfectly composed and well.”
Calvin glanced across at the two individuals sitting on the bright red sofa, some eight feet away from them. Ella was cocking her head in feigned absorption at Jin’s inquiries while Chun’s expression was a mask of stone. But since he always looked that way during any talk-shows he went on to (it wasn’t that he was in a permanent bad mood or anything, he was just naturally reserved, coupled with the fact that he had little confidence in his Chinese-speaking abilities), Calvin wasn’t too worried that he would invite gossips.
“I feel sorry for Chun too. It must be hard for him as well,” Selina said after awhile, looking guardedly at the guy in question.
Jin turned towards them just then, effective cutting off Calvin’s and Selina’s softly-worded conversation. Calvin immediate looked back into the cameras, a perfect picture of carefully cultivated interest as he listened intently to Jin’s next question.
Selina, however, did not miss out the soft, reassuring nudge he gave her. And it was really quite silly because after that, she felt, everything was going to be alright after all.

All four main casts of ‘Because of You’ heaved a visible sigh of relief as the recording finally ended, and they were free to escape to the safe confines of their changing rooms.
“What on earth were you and Selina whispering about during the interview?” Chun asked once he had shut the door behind him firmly.
“What do you mean?” Calvin paused in the act of shrugging out of the blazer he was wearing.
“Don’t deny it. I saw the both of you practically sticking to each other whenever Jin was distracted. Don’t tell me you really do have a thing for her,” Chun looked slyly at his fellow band mate.
Calvin rolled his eyes, tossing the blazer on to a chair. “Yeah yeah, I’m head over heels in love with her.”
Chun pulled a face. “Seriously though Cal, she’s a really nice person. Any chances of getting together?” his expression was an endearing mix of mischievousness and true curiosity.
“Why are you suddenly so interested in playing matchmaker?” Calvin looked suspicious.
Chun waved an arm airily. “Just asking. The rumour mill has been spinning off speculation after speculation if the both of you would really go out with each other.”
“It’s only because of the movie. It’d all die down in due time,” Calvin said pointedly.
“True,” Chun quietened for a moment, taking off the top he was wearing during the interview. He pulled on his own much more comfortable tee, than turned back to Calvin. “But just for the sake of asking, if and IF Selina really does seem like she’s interested, any chances of you returning the sentiment?”
Calvin paused to contemplate this. In the end, he chose the diplomatic way out, not sure if Chun was just trying to pull his leg. Chun may look serious and aloof, but he was a terror to deal with when he was in one of his playful moods. If Calvin somehow managed to make it sound like he liked Selina any more than a friend, Chun would never let him hear the end of it.
“Well, there is a possibility I suppose. There’s always a possibility with everyone. But right now, I just want to focus on my career.”
Chun scowled. “Hell Cal, I’m not some nosy reporter out to get you. You don’t have to sound so cryptic.”
“No, not a nosy reporter but just an extremely interfering friend. And this subject is closed as of now,” Calvin laughed, dodging away when Chun made to lunge at him.
“I swear, sometimes you’re so tight-lipped about your personal affairs I feel like I don’t even know you!” Chun protested.
“There’s nothing to share about my social life. I’m so busy with work I can barely walk straight, let alone pay any attention to women. You of all people should know that,” Calvin said with a raised brow.
“We should hook you up with some hot, blonde babe. Maybe you’ll loosen up a little after that,” Chun looked thoughtful.
Calvin rolled his eyes once more, “I’d be most appreciative if you can carry that off.”

Omg I'm sorry for the long absence *ducks rotten tomatoes*. =p
Things have been a little hectic. Just started uni, in a country that is a 14-hour flight away from where I'd been living.
Prior to departure I was busily trying to get everything settled and ready. And after I got here, I wasn't in any shape to write, what with trying to get my bearings and getting over being homesick and whatnot.
I'm slowly trying to find back my 'writing mood' so I do hope you'd all bear with me. =D
This is a short chapter, and it doesn't seem to be really good but I'm working on it. In the mean time, I do apologize!
