I went to Raymond and Ron’s apartment early in the morning today because Ray told me to. I didn’t know what it is this time, but it better be something good. But then I thought about it, he’s probably going to tell me about his date with Tavia the other night. Yeah, like I really want to hear it. Sigh…
“Qian! You’re here!” Ray shouted excitedly. He then motioned me to go sit on the couch next to him.
“Why do you tell me to come to your house so early in the morning?!” I shouted back at him
“I told you that I have something important to tell you!” Raymond said happily
Hmmm…something important huh? I wonder what it could be.
“Last night’s date with Tavia was great! We’re finally together!” He shouted excitedly
Why that was much unexpected. He said it’s something “important”, and that was important?! I felt uneasy inside, like another flame of jealousy flowing in my body again. I never expected that Tavia would fall for him so fast, and Raymond for once was so serious with a girl. I think this relationship between him and Tavia is going to be a long lasting one.
“Oh, well congratulations!” I grinned at him. I’m trying so hard to not show that I’m jealous.
“Thanks. It all happened so quickly, I was shocked myself and of course also very happy.” Raymond explained to me. Honestly, I didn’t want to hear it. I wish I was just deaf at that moment. But I’m not, so I had to sit there with him as he talks on and on about how he and Tavia hooked up.
“…yeah and then I can’t believe she held my hand back and-“ Raymond explained as I cut him off
“Hey, I really want to hear your story, but I need to go pee real bad.” I said. I seriously couldn’t take it anymore, if I hear him talking about Tavia some more I think I’d blow up! So then I had to go to the bathroom as an excuse.
“Sure.” Raymond replied
I got up and ran to the bathroom as quick as I can because I can feel my tears building up in my eyes already. I closed the bathroom door, and felt tears running down my face. I am too weak of a girl to handle all this. At first I thought it would be okay, but now that it had happened, I realized that it’s not as easy as I thought it would be. Raymond, the guy I love most is with my friend, and here he is talking about the times that they spent together. I thought I was strong, but after all, I am a girl, I have feelings too. But too bad the person that Raymond likes is not me, so I can’t force him to be with me. All I can do right now is wish that Tavia could bring him happiness and wouldn’t break his heart later on. I’m very worried because Tavia is a smart and beautiful woman, and of course a lot of guys are trying to follow her, I’m afraid that Raymond can’t stand a chance.
After three minutes of crying and another five minutes of trying to dry my tears away so that it doesn’t look like I’m crying, I came out of the bathroom.
“What took you so long?! You ate something bad that caused you to go?” Raymond asked me
“Yeah…” I lied so that he wouldn’t notice
“And why are your eyes red? Looks like you just cried.” Raymond said looking at my eyes
I looked away from him then replied “I was yawning.”
“Oh, anyways, I wasn’t finished with my story yet, so let’s continue.” Raymond said happily
Sigh…here we go again. But this time, I’m prepared. I’m pretty sure that I won’t be running into the bathroom crying again. So for the next thirty minutes, I spent it at Raymond’s house. After that, went back home to have dinner with my mom, then I felt like going to the bar…by myself. I still find myself thinking about how Raymond is going out with Tavia now, and that thought still made me sad, and angry at the same time. So I went to the bar that was close to my house, I got there and ordered a bottle of beer. I took the first sip and I almost spat it out because it tasted so bitter, I barely drank so I’m not really good at it. But I wanted to try, so I forced myself to drink it, and before I know it, I had finished one bottle and ordered for more.
I drank and drank until I was hiccupping and my head was spinning around in circles, I felt like sleeping. I got up and tried to walk out from the bar, but then I bumped into someone. He was tall, that’s all I know, I couldn’t really see his face because I was too drunk to see. He looked drunk himself, but he wasn’t angry that I bumped into him.
“Sorry!” I apologized as I laughed hysterically still with a bottle of beer in my hand
“No problemo!” The guy replied laughing along with me. “Here all alone?”
“Yessss….I am here all alone because I’m such a loner! No one wants me! Do you want me? Huh??!” I asked him as I laughed even more
“Of course I want you! Here, come with me and we’ll drink some more!” The guy suggested as he dragged me back to the bar table. We ordered more bottles of beers and drank.
“So what’s your name?” The guy asked me
“My name? I don’t know my name…” I replied “What’s your name?”
“How can you not know your name? You are DRUNK! I know my name because I’m not drunk!” He answered
“I’m not drunk! So what IS your name?!” I asked him
“I’m Sammul, Sammul Chan” The guy replied
“Sammul?? That’s a nice name. Nice to meet you Sammul, my name is Tavia Yeung and I am going out with Raymond Lam!” I responded
“Tavia Yeung, beautiful…”
“Tavia’s going out with Raymond, my best friend. She’s going out with him.” I said as I started to cry
“What are you talking about?” Sammul asked as he had his head on the table
“I said Tavia is going out with Raymond! He picked her and not me! Isn’t that funny?” I asked as I laughed again.
My head was hurting and I didn’t know what I was doing or saying, after that I guessed I had fallen asleep. It was morning, and I found myself lying outside of the bar with my head on some guy’s shoulder. I immediately shot up and looked at myself if I had any clothes on. Good, I didn’t do anything bad. Who is this guy anyways? Why am I lying on him? I kicked him to wake up.
“Hey, wake up!” I called as I kicked him. “Wake up!”
The guy opened up his eyes slowly and rubbed it. He looked at me then asked “Who are you?”
“I think I should ask you the same question, I woke up and I found myself lying on you!” I shouted at him
He got up and replied “How am I supposed to know?”
“Whatever.” I said quickly. I could care less about this stranger guy; I then took out my cell phone and checked the time. It was only six o’ clock in the morning. None of the stores were open yet, well except those cafés. I decided to go get myself a coffee so I could wake up.
“Hey, what time is it?” The guy asked me
“It’s six am.” I replied “I’m going now, good bye.” Then I walked away, but I heard him calling out “wait!” I rolled my eyes and turned back.
“What do you want?” I asked
“You want to go get some coffee together?” He asked
I looked at him, well he looks pretty nice and pretty educated too, he probably means no harm. It wouldn’t hurt to just get some coffee.
“Sure.” I replied as we both walked to a nearby coffee shop. We went to Starbucks and I ordered myself a white chocolate mocha while he ordered a decaf mocha java. We sat at the tables inside the store sipping our coffee.
“So, what’s your name?” I asked
“Sammul Chan.” He replied with a smile
Hmm…that name sounds familiar; I swear I’ve heard it somewhere.
“And yours?” Sammul asked
“Li Qian.” I replied
“Oh.” Sammul replied. We sat there for awhile not knowing what to say.
“You know, I wonder how we both wound up sleeping outside of the bar together.” I suddenly said as I laughed at the unusual thought.
“Yeah, me too. All I could remember was that I was depressed so I went to the bar and I drank a lot! And next think I know I was outside of the bar with a girl at six in the morning!” Sammul replied as he laughed along
“You were depressed? Sigh…so was I.” I replied
“Wow, what a coincidence then. What happened to you?” He asked
“My best friend went out with my other friend. And I really like this guy too.” I said as I remembered about the problem
“Oh, sorry to hear that.” Sammul replied. “It must be terrifying for you.”
“It was, but let’s not talk about it. What about your problem?” I asked
He gave out a heavily sigh and replied “It’s my dad; he’s forcing me to go work with him at his company after I finish college this year, but I don’t want to. The job there doesn’t suit me; I’m not even good at it!” Sammul replied
“Oh…” I answered, not knowing what else to say. “Well, what DO you want to do?”
“My dream is to become a chef. I’ve always love cooking!” Sammul said. “Yeah, kind of weird for a guy to love cooking huh?”
“No, of course not. I actually find that unique. I never knew a guy who loves to cook ever before, you’re the first. And there’s nothing wrong about liking to cook.” I comforted. But honestly, I had no problem with it.
“Really?” Sammul asked
“Yep.” I replied
He gave out another sigh and replied “If only my dad could think like you. I told him about my dream, but he thought that it’s inappropriate for a man to cook because he always thought that it’s a woman’s job. He said a true man works in a company and makes a business.”
“Nonsense! Your dad is wrong for thinking like that. Being a chef is not only a woman’s job, many men are chefs too! Gosh, how judgmental and picky he is!” I said angrily. I heard no response from Sammul; I then realized that it was kind of rude of me to say that about his dad.
I covered my mouth and said “Sorry, I didn’t mean to say all that about your dad, I hope you don’t mind.”
“Not at all, I find that true though. He is very judgmental and picky; nothing I do is every good enough for him.” Sammul replied sadly
I looked at him and I pitied for him. “Well, don’t worry, I believe that your dad will realized that what you’ve picked is definitely the right choice for you, why don’t you give him time and he’ll realized that eventually.”
“Thanks, I really hope so.” Sammul replied
I looked at the time once more, wow; we’ve been talking for an hour already! It’s seven o’clock, and I better head back to get ready for work.
“Well, I think I have to go now or else I’d be late for work!” I said
“Oh, you want me to drive you, my car is just around the corner.” Sammul offered
“Is it too much trouble?” I asked not wanting to bother him
“Nope, I don’t have any classes today, so I can take you.” Sammul replied
“Well in that case then sure.” I said as we both walked to his car.
Oh my god, he drives a Mercedes! Wow, this guy must be rich! Well duh, his dad owns a company! Wow, this is incredible, wait till I tell Ray that I get to drive in a brand new Mercedes, he wouldn’t believe it! Humph, never mind, he’s probably too busy going with Tavia anyways!
I got into his car, and it was nice I must admit. He drove me back home, I then gave him my online screen name and my cell phone number and he gave him mine. He’s a nice guy and I can definitely make friends with him. After that, I ran up to my room and got ready for work.
When I got to work, I found Tavia sitting on her desk smiling to her all the time. She’s probably so happy that she’s with Raymond now. Sigh…I decided to come up to her to see what’s going on.
“Hey.” I said as stood next to her
She looked up at me and replied “Oh hey Qian!”
“Why someone seems happy today!” I teased
She immediately blushed and replied “What are you talking about? I’m happy every day!”
“Oh you know what I mean; Raymond told me all about the night where you guys got together! Congratulations!” I said. Although I hated the fact that Raymond and Tavia are together, but they’re my friends, I can’t get mad at them for long. Besides, I should be congratulating her to show that I’m a good friend.
“So you know already?” Tavia asked
“Mmmhmmm..” I replied with a grin
“That Raymond, he just couldn’t keep his mouth shut now could he?” Tavia asked as she laughed
“Yeah you know Raymond, once he has something exciting going on, he can’t stop but brag about it!” I replied
Tavia giggled then said “Yeah…”
“Well, I better be heading back to work. Oh and don’t forget to do your work while you day dream about Ray!” I teased as I got back to my desk.
Well, it’s good to know that Tavia really likes Ray. I was afraid that she didn’t because she was picky when it comes to guys, but for some reason, Raymond got her real quickly. Maybe Raymond has some kind of spell on Tavia, I laugh to myself about the thought.

So, Li Qian now is accepting the fact that Ray and Tav are together, she's pretty okay with it although she still likes Raymond. And as for Sammul, he's the new friend. =) He'll come out more in the future though. Comments please!
