Now that Raymond has a girlfriend, he completely forgot that I actually exist in this world. Well, I could understand for him, but still…I feel that our friendship is getting farther apart as each day passes. I feel so distant from him now. I’m really afraid, afraid that we can’t even be friends later on. Or maybe I’m too paranoid and I’m scaring myself. Raymond isn’t that type of person though.
It was a Saturday morning and here I am at home with absolutely nothing to do. The last time that I hung out with Raymond was about a month ago, that was also the last time that I heard his voice. And I have to admit, I really miss him. Even Ron left me, now I’m all alone. Sigh…As I dwelled over the thought, my cell phone rang. I picked it up, and it was Sammul.
“Hey!” Sammul shouted happily.
“Oh hey!” Is this Sammul?” I asked, making sure
“Yep! Wow, how did you recognize my voice?” Sammul asked
“Well, you can probably say that I remember and recognize things real easily.” I replied
Sammul laughed and replied, “I see. Anyways, are you busy?”
“No, why?” I asked then continued “you want to ask me out on a date huh?” I only wanted to tease him at that moment out of boredom. But then I heard no response from him, he must be blushing at the moment. Hehe…”I’m just kidding Sam! Are you mad?”
“No…not at all! Well actually…I kind of do want to ask you out, but just for breakfast, have you eaten yet?” Sammul asked
“Oh not yet. Sure, breakfast would be great!” I responded
“Cool, okay, I’ll come pick you up right now. Bye!” Sammul said happily as he hung up.
After hanging up, I quickly went to change into outing clothes. Around fifteen minutes later, my door bell rung, and I went to open the door.
“Hey.” Sammul greeted
“Hey, ready to go?” I asked
“Ready when you are.” Sammul replied
“Great.” I said smiling as Sammul guide me to his car. He drove to this high class hotel to have breakfast. It was so nice in there and the food was delicious! Wow, being rich has its difference.
“This place is so fancy.” I commented as we finished our dish
“You don’t like it?” Sammul asked
“No, I really like it; it’s just that I’m not use to eating at such a fancy restaurant like this.” I replied
“Oh…”
“Want to go now?” I asked him
“Sure.” Sammul replied as we walked out of the restaurant.
On the way to his car, I saw Raymond and Tavia, hand in hand, talking and laughing, they seem to be enjoying themselves. The couple then walked towards Sammul and I.
“Tavia! Raymond! What a surprise to see you guys here.” I shouted happily. I’m trying my best to get comfortable with them.
“Qian! Is that your new boyfriend? How come you never told me?” Raymond asked as he took a quick glance at Sammul
“No, he’s just a normal friend. This is Sammul, and Sammul this is Raymond and Tavia.” I introduced. They shook hands and smiled at each other.
“Normal friends huh? Are you sure about that?” Tavia teased
“Of course, we’re only friends.” I replied “On the other hand, YOU guys are a couple.” I teased back “I should be the one making fun of you guys.”
Tavia blushed as Raymond looked down at her and smiled
“Hey don’t make fun of us just because we’re a loving couple. You can be like us too, as soon as you get yourself a boyfriend!” Raymond said laughing
We all laughed along and then I replied “Okay, okay, Sammul and I won’t be bothering you two love birds anymore, we have our own plans. Bye!” I said as I dragged Sammul and walked away from them.
On the car
“Do you mind if I ask you a question?” Sammul asked suddenly
“Nope. Go ahead.” I responded
“Was that guy before the guy that you said that you like, but then he went out with your friend?” Sammul asked
“Yeah…” I replied “How do you know?”
“My instincts told me, and surprisingly I am right.” Sammul replied
“You’re good.” I replied with a light smile. I then turned my attention to the outside as we drove pass it.
I guess Sammul knew that I was sad so he asked “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“Don’t let your feelings be inside of you always, you should let it out and that would ease your mind more. Tell me what’s wrong, I really want to help.” Sammul encouraged
“Well, it’s just one of those moments where you see the guy you really like getting so close with your friend, and you just feel uncomfortable. That’s how I felt before, that’s all. I’m sure I’ll forget about them soon…” I explained. Sigh…but who am I kidding? I was only lying to Sammul about the whole ‘I will forget about them soon’ problem. Thing is, Raymond had been the guy I liked for about five years already; I can’t just forget about him that quickly because I want to. It’s not that easy…and I’m not quite sure myself when I can truly forget about him. This will have to take lots of time.
“Oh…” Sammul replied “Well, I really hope that you can forget about it soon, it’s tough to see someone you love being with another person, especially when that person is your friend.”
“Thanks, I hope so too.”
After the conversation, I finally arrived home again. At the moment, I didn’t want to think of anything more. I climbed up to my room and fell into a deep nap.
++Raymond’s POV
After watching a movie at a movie theatre, Tavia and I went to eat at a sweet congee shop for dessert. Suddenly, Qian came across my mind. I use to remember how whenever we are bored and have nothing to do, we would always go to this sweet congee shop and eat. It was great times. Why am I thinking about her? Weird.
“So, what do you think of the congee?” I asked
“It’s okay. I personally don’t like sweet congees; they’re not really good for you. Too much sugar, it could lead to diabetes.” Tavia said
“Yeah, but eating it once in awhile isn’t so bad right?” I asked with a grin
“I guess, but it’s better if we don’t eat it.” Tavia replied. My grin then faded away. Sigh…we’re suppose to enjoy the congee, but here she is ruining it, saying that it’s bad for us. Well, I know she means well, but I just want everything to be more relaxing.
“I don’t want to eat this anymore; you want to go take a walk?” Tavia asked
“Okay.” I replied. I paid for the congees, then we just took a walk around the streets.
“You know that guy with Qian today?” I suddenly asked
“You mean Sammul?”
“Yeah…”
“What about him?”
“Well, I don’t think he and Qian are just “normal friends” as they said it.” I said. I don’t know, but for some reason, that situation just popped in my head.
“What makes you think so?” Tavia asked
“I’m not sure, but it seems like it. I mean, why would they be together in the morning like that? It’s either he likes her or she likes him, or they both could even like each other.” I replied
Tavia laughed and said “Okay, well even if they do, it’s really none of our business. They could have a relationship or not, it isn’t up to us to decide. It’s between them so let them deal with it.”
“But Qian is my friend; I want to know who she’ll be dating.” I answered
“Well, you can ask her yourself then.” Tavia suggested
Hey, it’s not a bad idea. Maybe I should…
After the walk, I then took Tavia home. After that, I drove back to the apartment and went straight to bed. I wanted to call Qian to ask since this whole problem had been distracting me the whole day, I’m really curious to know. But it was late, she’s probably asleep, so I didn’t call her.
On the next day, I went to Albertson’s for grocery shopping. Yeah, me go grocery shopping, funny isn’t it? But I’m listening to Tavia to buy healthy food to eat because it’s suppose to be “good” for me, so I’ll do it to satisfy her. I was at the fruit section, picking out some fresh green apples while I spot Qian just right beside me picking out some peaches. What a surprise!
“Hey, what a coincidence!” I burst out
Qian turned around and then looked at me oddly “Raymond Lam?”
“Yeah….” I replied
Qian laughed then said “When did you start to go grocery shopping huh?”
“Starting today, is something wrong with that Miss Li?” I asked
“Yes there is, I thought the Raymond Lam I knew only buys fast food to eat, he never knew how to go grocery shopping and cook his own food!” Qian said
“Well I’ve changed, for Tavia.” I replied smiling
“Oh.”
“So, what are you doing here?” I asked
“What does it look like? I’m here to buy food of course!” Qian shouted as she wheeled her cart out from the fruit section, with me following along
“Why are you following me?!” Qian asked
“There’s a question I’ve wanted to ask you…” I said
“Okay, go ahead and ask.” Qian responded
“You know Sammul? Is he your boyfriend?”
“No, I thought I told you that already!”
“I know, but I don’t believe you. I feel that you guys have something that you’re not telling me.”
Qian broke into a hysterical laugh and then replied “I already told you that we’re only friends and that’s it! How many times do I have to tell you? Jeez…”
“So you don’t like him at all?” I asked
“No!” Qian replied
“Okay, just wanted to clear that out.” I said. For some reason, I’m kind of relieved that she doesn’t like him. This Sammul guy isn’t her type of guys; he wouldn’t be able to give her what she wants.
“…and why are YOU so concerned?” Qian asked, demanding an answer
“I’m just curious” I responded quickly
“Suuuure….”
“Really! You have to believe me.” I said
“And why do I have to?” Qian asked
“Because that’s what friends do.”
“Hmm…I don’t know, but if you treat me to some sweet congee then I can think about it.” Qian said smiling
I laughed and replied “Deal!”
After, that the both of us went to the sweet congee that we always go to. I had to admit, eating sweet congee is much more fun and relaxing than eating with Tavia. All Tavia could do is complain about how unhealthy sweet congees are, sigh…
“So, how are things going with you and Tavia lately?” Qian suddenly asked while we were eating
“Good.” I replied. “Why did you ask?”
“Out of curiosity, that’s all.” Qian responded
“Gosh, I’m full!” I blurted
“Me too, wanna go now?” Qian asked
“Sure.”
After paying, Qian and I walked around to digest a little. It was such a beautiful night on a warm summer day. I had fun; last time I hung out with Qian was like a month ago, now that I get to hang out with her again today, I’ve realized how much fun I’ve been missing without her. Not that Tavia is boring or anything, but sometimes I feel like I don’t really understand her much. She doesn’t tell me things and instead keep them to herself, I’m her boyfriend and we’re supposed to be honest with each other. She’s a great girl really, but sometimes, I don’t know what she wants and what to do to bring that smile to her face again. Qian and I walked and walked around the city filled with lights and people passing by, none of us said anything. I was still thinking about Tavia and the problems we’ve been encountering. I wonder what’s on Qian’s mind.
“Why so quiet today? I thought you were the talkative one!” I said
“Nothing…just a little tired.” Qian replied with a light smile
“Have a lot on your mind?” I asked
“A little.” Qian responded “What about you? You seem to have a lot of things on your mind too.”
“It’s just Tavia.” I answered sighing heavily
“I thought you said things between you guys are good, what happened?” Qian asked concern
“Well, I lied.” I replied “I don’t know, she’s so…unpredictable. I never know what she’s thinking, and it doesn’t seem like she’s very happy when she’s with me.”
“Are you thinking too much?” Qian asked “Maybe she has some personal problems that she wants to tell you but too afraid to. Girls are mostly like that, maybe you should try asking her what’s wrong, and she might tell you.”
“I’ve tried that before, but she would always give me ‘I’m fine’ or ‘It’s nothing.’ You can’t get anything out from her.” I complained
“I suggest you sit down with her and ask her seriously. Show her that you are serious and that you really want to know what’s going on. I’m sure she’ll give in.” Qian suggested
“Maybe that’ll work. I’ll try, thanks for the advice.” I said
“You’re welcome. I hope things will work out for you guys.”
“Yeah me too.” I responded
I then took Qian home and drove back to my apartment. Before going to sleep, I’ve thought clearly over what Qian told me. I really hope Tavia could tell me something, I really want to know what’s the problem.

I've finally updated! Sorry, i've been real busy the past few weeks! Studying for finals cuz` it's coming up this week! >< wish me luck guys...anways, i dont know when i'll be updating again, don't be expecting it soon cuz` i'm still very busy! so yeah..comments please! =)
