I finally arrived in the London airport. I looked around and I saw so many unfamiliar faces and that had left me feeling so lost and alone. I know that it’s my fault for choosing to leave Hong Kong, so I can’t blame anyone else but myself for feeling this way.
I took my suitcase and bag and went outside to hail a taxi. It took me a while for a taxi to come to me because there were many other people in front of me trying to hail a taxi also. I stood there waiting for so long and I was freezing cold. Although I had gloves on but my hands still felt so cold. At last a taxi finally came to me and I immediately went on.
“Cambridge Dorm please.” I said to the taxi driver.
“Right away Madame.” The taxi driver replied with a British accent.
During the car ride, I looked outside to the city and there were lights all over. The city was absolutely gorgeous, especially with the beautiful snow too. The people all looked happy and cheerful and here I am in this taxi feeling so sad. Suddenly, Raymond came into my mind. I thought about him for awhile and it had brought me into tears. I quickly wiped away my tears as soon as I felt them rolling down my cheeks.
I finally arrived to Cambridge Dorm where I saw many people around my age entering into that dorm. I paid the taxi driver and went inside. I went to the receptionist to claim my room because I already reserved one. I had a nice gentleman who helped me carry my suitcases up into my room. I entered the room and there I found a British young lady who I assumed to be my room mate.
“Hello.” The young British lady greeted.
I flashed her a smile and replied, “Hello.”
She walked up to me and introduced herself, “My name’s Emma Bureau and I’m going to be your room mate.”
“Nice meeting you Emma, I’m Li Qian.” I replied as I shook her hand.
“This is so great; I finally have a room mate now!” Emma shouted happily, “I’ve been staying in this dorm all by myself for almost a year already and to tell you the truth, it gets really boring. Whenever I want someone to talk to I only have myself, but now that I have you as my room mate I finally have someone to talk to!”
I smiled at her and said, “It’s always better to have a room mate than staying all by yourself.”
Emma smiled at me, “Are you hungry Qian? We can go out to eat if you want.”
“Sure, dinner sounds nice.” I responded. Emma then took me to this restaurant where the food is absolutely delightful. Emma is a very friendly and nice girl and I’m a bit happier now that I’ve met her. Hopefully when I have problems I can tell her and she’ll listen.
Raymond’s POV
I’ve tried contacting Qian for so long already but I still did not hear a word from her. I went to her mom’s house to look for her and I even asked her mom if she knows where she is, but instead of telling me, she scolded at me and told me that she never wanted to see me ever again. Sigh, I am so furious at the moment. Someone please tell me what to do and how can I find Qian. It’s been exactly two weeks already and still not a word from Qian. I miss her so much, where can she be?
“Raymond, you need a break.” Ron stated while we were in our apartment, “I have a feeling that she left Hong Kong.”
“Bu why?” I asked, “Why would she leave like that?”
“You should probably know why.” Ron replied, “Only you know why.”
“I’ve made the biggest mistake in my life, I can never forgive myself!” I replied angrily as I buried my face into my hands, “Do you think she’ll forgive me?”
“When a woman is deeply hurt she is very stubborn, it’s going to be hard.” Ron stated, “But what I suggest you do is to give yourself a break to think over this situation clearly. Go on a vacation or something then find a way to find Qian. Even if she may be stubborn but there will be a time where her heart will soften again, it all depends on you”
I sighed, “But I’m afraid that I’ll be wasting time out of finding her if I go on vacation.”
“It’ll be fine.” Ron replied, “Just give yourself a break and give your mind some air.”
I nodded in agreement, “Okay.”
I then went into my room thinking of where I should go to. But then that subject was lost when I had my mind still on Qian. Honestly, I do not want to take this vacation because I want to spend time looking for Qian. But I must admit that Ron is right, I can’t go on looking for her with so much stress on me, I must take a break to free myself from all this mess first. The thought of my vacation then suddenly came back to me. Where should I go? Where should I go?
The next week, I had my bags all ready and set for my vacation to London. From all the many places in this world I chose London. Why? Simply because I’ve always wanted to go there. I finally got the chance to and I’m quite excited about it. I would be more excited if only Qian would go with me, but unfortunately that will have to wait.
I hailed a taxi to the Hong Kong airport and I got on my flight after a long hour of sitting and waiting at the café in the airport. When I got onto the plane I did not want to think of anything anymore, I only wanted to sleep, sleep away all the long hours from Hong Kong to London. And so I did…
I opened my eyes and found the airplane coming to a stop. I looked out the window and saw snow. I smiled lightly to myself knowing that we have arrived to London. I got up from my seat and took all of my belongings and got off the plane. Wow, I can’t believe it, I’m actually seeing snow. It was so beautiful and very cold at the same time. I then hailed a taxi to the hotel that I’ve booked days ago. When I had my room I immediately went to sleep again. I never noticed how tired I have been throughout these two weeks trying to look for Qian. So I slept for another three hours and when I woke up it was already seven o’clock pm. I heard my stomach grumbling and I knew that I was hungry. I got out of my room and into the city. I walked around the crowded streets to find a restaurant where I can dine at tonight.
While walking around trying to find a restaurant I found a young lady who looks quite like Qian. Heh, I must be seeing things though. Why would Qian be in London anyways? I’ve missed her so much that I thought I saw her. I shook my head then went into this restaurant that looked appealing to me. I had dinner alone which was quite lonesome but it wasn’t that bad. The food tasted great and the people were very nice. After dinner I decided to walk around the city before going back to the hotel. I wanted to digest all of the food I just ate and I also wanted to see the beautiful view of London. It was cold out though, it wasn’t snowing but it was still awfully cold. I was wearing the scarf that Qian made me and it felt so warm knowing that she made it especially for me.
I then walked inside this souvenir shop where I found this adorable looking pig stuffed animal. I picked it up and smiled at how much it reminded me of Qian. Although Qian isn’t as chubby as the pig but the way she eats really resembles a pig. The stuffed animal pig was very soft and delicate just like how Qian’s skin feels like. I then decided to buy this stuffed animal and hopefully when I find her then I’ll give it to her.
After paying for the pig stuffed animal, I walked out of the shop and continued walking around the city. While walking I spotted that young lady who looked like Qian again. This time I was a bit closer to her. The more I look at her the more she resembled Qian. Can it be her? But why would she be here? What am I saying? Why can’t she be here? Sigh, instead of standing here wondering, why not get closer to see? With that set in mind, I walked up closer to her. She was standing by the window of an antique store, her head right against the window looking inside into an art work.
I can’t believe what I was seeing. It was Qian! In my mind I was shouting out her name in excitement that I finally found her but then I didn’t want to shout out her name in front of her because she might get scared and we are out in public.
“Qian…” I called out her name softly.
She turned around in hearing her name and when she saw me her eyes widened in shock. She looked at me without blinking for about ten seconds and after that she turned away from the opposite direction from me and started to run away.
“Qian!” I shouted. I then ran after her, we weren’t very far away from each other because Qian isn’t a very fast runner. It wasn’t difficult for me to catch up to her. Suddenly she lost her balance and fell onto the white snow. I stopped and helped her stand up straightly.
“Let go of me!” Qian shouted as she took her arm away from my grasp.
“I know that I’ve hurt you but please Qian, please give me some time to explain.” I said
“Although there might be a good explanation behind this situation but that is not the problem here. Don’t you get it Ray? The problem is that you kept lying to me, if you would’ve told me the truth then I will forgive you, but you didn’t. All you did was continuously lying to me and act like nothing happened.” Qian explained, “I’m sick of it.”
“I’m really sorry for doing that but I didn’t want to tell you the truth because I’m afraid that the truth will hurt you and I can’t bear to see you hurt. I’m sorry…” I replied
“I don’t want to hear you apologize anymore.” Qian said, “You can probably say that I am picky with my boyfriend. I want a boyfriend who understands me and who will never lie to me no matter what.” She paused then continued, “Or you can say that we have no fate in our relationship anymore.” She looked me in the eyes directly for a while without saying a word then turned around and walked away from me.
“Qian wait!” I shouted, “There is still fate in our relationship!”
She turned around, “What fate?”
“The fate that brought me to you.” I replied, “I never knew that you were in England and I was only here for a break and surprisingly fate brought us together. Trust me Qian, I’m not lying. I may lie to you other times but not this time. After what has happened I dare not lie to you ever again.”
“I’m sorry Ray but I don’t know if I can trust you on that.” Qian replied coldly.
“No, you have to believe me, I’m not lying!” I shouted, “Please Qian…”
Qian then walked up to me and hugged me tightly, “I love you so much Raymond. But I believe our love must end here. I’ve lost trust in you after the many times that you’ve lied to me. I’m afraid that this hope you’re giving to me now is once again another false one. I can’t risk believing you anymore.”
“Please Qian, just one last time. I promise that it’s a real hope, not a false one.” I answered, “Give ourselves one last chance.”
Qian lets go of the embrace and she spoke to me with tears in her eyes, “I can’t, I’m sorry…” With that, she slowly walked away from me and I had nothing more to say. And that was it. That was the end of us.
I stood there feeling so numb after what had happened. Suddenly the snow started to fall down and I began to feel the coldness, the lonesome of a broken hearted man. I felt so useless, I couldn’t even keep the woman that I love, but instead I drove her away from me. I was given another chance this time to keep her back but I even blew that last chance. Qian was deeply hurt by me and I didn’t want to continue on doing that. Maybe we’re not meant to be after all, we were always best friend and that was it.
After standing at that one spot for long period of time I then decided that I should go back because it was getting really cold. I decided to walk back to the hotel just because I felt like it. It was quite a long walk actually and it almost felt like my legs were going to collapse any time soon. But I still continued on walking…
My eyes were kept on the ground most of the time while walking. My neck suddenly ached because I was looking down to the ground most of the time, so then I decided to look straight ahead again. And when I did, there I found Qian, just about five feet away from me. I can’t believe this, can this be another fate?
“What are you doing here?” I asked her.
“Why can’t I be here?” Qian asked back
“Just forget that question.” I said, “It’s such a coincidence to see you here.”
“Yeah…” Qian replied, “I went around walking many circles around the area and in the end I found you again.”
I smiled, “I did the same.”
“Is God trying to mess with us or what?” Qian asked
“It’s fate Qian.” I replied as I walked closer to her, “I told you that there is fate.” I then held her hands, “You cannot escape this time.”
“Ray…” Qian said softly, “We can’t…”
“And why not?” I asked, “You’re not giving us another chance. Please Qian, just one more chance, okay?”
Suddenly a man who was walking behind Qian then bumped into her which caused her body going into mine. She gave out a light scream and wrapped her arms around my neck and our faces were only a few inches apart. I then wrapped my arms around her waist, not letting her go away.
“Let go of me Raymond Lam!” Qian shouted at me as she pounded her fists on my chest.
“Never.” I replied as I brought her into a deep kiss. I kissed her and I can feel that she’s pushing me away but a few seconds later, she finally gave in and kissed me back passionately. The kiss felt so warm since outside was so cold, it was just wonderful.
After all the hard times that we’ve been through, we’re finally back together again. And I swear that I won’t blow this last chance. Ever.
