I woke up this morning with a happy look on my face, that’s because I know that I will be seeing Leila everyday at work now. Raymond, my best friend of course always know what’s going on with me.
“So, what is it this time?” Raymond asked me out of the blues
“What do you mean?” I asked him back as if I didn’t know what was going on
“You know what I mean. Go look at yourself in the mirror; all of a sudden you’re so happy today. Clearly there’s something wrong with you.” Raymond said matter of fact
“Oh alright!” I said sitting on the couches as I’m getting ready to tell Raymond “I think I like this girl.”
“Oooooh….who is this girl?!” Raymond asked excitedly. Yup, he’s always so nosy like that.
“I first saw her when I was at the airport last week, and then yesterday I saw her at my work place! Isn’t that such a coincidence? We must have fate or something…I know that she’s definitely the one!” I shouted happily
“You sound pretty confident there Ron, proves that you must like this girl a lot.” Raymond replied
I blushed lightly “I guess so, but she seems like two different persons.”
“What do you mean?” Raymond asked me confusedly
“Well, when I saw her at the airport, that’s where I started falling for her because she was so kind and sweet, but yesterday at the company she acted so harsh and cold. I don’t get it; she’s being two complete different people!” I explained
“Hmmm…” Raymond said “This is tricky. I can’t help you this time buddy. This chick that you’re going after will be a tough one, I can sense it.”
“Well, no matter how tough it is, I’m still going for it. She seems to have many secrets hidden inside of her, and I’m going to find out.” I said assuredly
“That’s the spirit! But I still gotta warn you, sometimes you don’t want to mess with women who seem to have a harsh background, you might offend them, and you know how they’re so unreasonable and stuff.” Raymond reminded
“I know.” I replied
After the conversation I had with Raymond, I immediately headed to work. Again, I’m starting a new and fresh day and this time, I’m hoping to see that Leila will change her attitudes toward me. I got off my car and saw Leila walking to the elevator, so I quickly ran up to her.
“Good morning!” I greeted
“Good morning.” Leila replied not looking directly at me
“Why you sure are early today!” I said suddenly
“It’s good to be early. You’re early yourself.” Leila said
“Oh yeah, I’m an early kind of person. I hate people that are always late.” I responded, but she didn’t answer me. Suddenly, the elevator doors slid open and both of us walked in.
“So, how do you like it here so far?” I asked her
“It’s okay.” Leila replied quickly
“That’s-“ I said but got cut off because we arrived to our floor and Leila stepped out of the elevator before I could even finish. Sigh…Raymond is right; she sure is a tough one.
While working, I couldn’t stop but notice her. Every moves she make I would stare; I swear there’s like this love spell on me or something. It’s hard to win her heart, but I guess that’s also one of the reasons why I like her. She’s not only pretty and sweet, but also smart and straight forward. A very attractive young lady she is.
We worked and worked until it was 5:00 pm already. Then I saw Leila packing up her things and went out, I ran up to her to see where she’s going.
“Hey, where are you going?” I asked
“I’m taking care of some business for Mr. Leung (the boss). Now would you excuse me…” Leila said waiting for me to get out of her way
“Of course.” I said stepping aside as I watched her leave for the elevator. Hmmm…I wonder where Mr. Leung wants her to go. Maybe I should ask Tony.
“Hey Tony.” I greeted
“Hey.” Tony greeted back
“Did you know where and Mr. Leung asked Leila to go?” I asked
“I think he’s telling her to go to Cheung Chau Island to do something for him.” Tony replied
“Cheung Chau? That’s so far from here! We’d have to go on the boat to get there!” I shouted
“Yeah I know, but that’s her job so she’s going to have to do it.” Tony replied then walked back to his desk.
How could Mr. Leung let a lady go all the way to Cheung Chau Island all by herself? It wouldn’t be safe; I have to go with her!
I then made an excuse for Mr. Leung saying that I don’t feel very well so then I was excused to go home. But the truth is, I bought tickets for the boat so I can go to Cheung Chau. I bought the tickets then went onto the boat, and luckily, I found Leila sitting there on the benches, I was about to go up to her but then I remembered that I’m only here to protect her, not going on a date with her. So it’s best if I don’t show up, or else she’d kick me off this boat.
After about an hour and a half on the boat we finally arrived to Cheung Chau Island. I was so happy that I could finally get off that boat, I almost puked! So after we got off the boat, I was behind Leila following her throughout most of the time, and I didn’t disturb her at all and let her do her job. I have followed her for exactly two hours now and it sure is getting late and she is finally done! She was walking to the harbor and I was still following behind her. I think she notices that someone is following her because she kept on turning back numerous of times, and then she did it again, but this time, I couldn’t get away with it. She totally caught me.
“What are you doing here?!” Leila shouted at me
“I was here to protect you.” I replied
“Protect me? Ohhh…so you were the one who kept on following me this whole time! I knew that there was something or someone behind me! Why are you doing this?! Aren’t you suppose to be at the company working?!” She asked me angrily
“I heard that Mr. Leung sent you all the way to here to do some business, and I don’t think it’s safe for a girl to go that far without anyone, so I thought maybe I could follow you and protect you if you ran into a burglar or something.” I said looking at the ground
“Do you have any personal intentions on me or something?” Leila asked
“Okay listen, I admit it, I like you, but I swear, I mean no harm at all. The only reason why I came here is to only be there if you run into any trouble, that’s it.” I explained
“Don’t think that if you do that then I’m going to fall for you, because I’m not and never will be.” Leila said coldly. What she said had really offended me and it hurts to the bone.
“Okay, get this straight. I’m only doing this because I care for you and I like you, I don’t want anything bad to happen to you! I didn’t do this to try to gain your love for me or anything, and if I did, then I would’ve showed my face to you earlier, I didn’t have to hide myself the whole freakin’ day!” I shouted angrily at her.
I looked at her, and from the look of her eyes, I knew she was startled.
I sighed heavily and replied “I’m sorry about that, I just got a bit angry. Come on, it’s late, I think we better head back before it gets even darker.”
I started walking, and I walked right ahead of her, then I could hear her in the back walking behind. Was I acting a bit mean before? Maybe I did, but she really got me mad.
We sat together on the benches during our ride on the boat. During the whole ride, neither of us said a word. There was an awkward silence between us, then suddenly…
“Ron?” Leila said
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry about before. I shouldn’t have blamed you.” Leila apologized, and I thought I heard a guilty sort of tone in her voice.
“Don’t worry about it, I’m not mad anymore.” I replied
“It’s still my fault, I’m always like this! I can’t control myself and then I cause people to hate me because of my stupid attitude! If only-“ Leila said then stopped right there. Damn, I want to know what she’ll say next, I don’t get why she stopped right there though.
“If only what?” I asked her hoping to get an answer
“Nevermind. It’s nothing, really.” Leila replied
“Well, if you don’t want to say it, then I won’t force you. But let me tell you something, whatever problem it is, you have to be brave and face it and get over with it, don’t let it get on your way of living life.” I said
She then looked at me in a very weird way, not exactly bad, but she looked real sad all of a sudden. Her eyes filled with painful sorrows. She looked at me for about five seconds then turns her attention to the ocean. I then looked at her and see a bit tears forming in her eyes. She must have some kind of problem inside of her that she cannot forget, I understand. I’ll try to find out and help her, but I won’t force her to say it.
After getting off the ship, we both went our separate ways. While driving back home, I still had many thoughts about her and still wondering what’s her problem. Something terrible must’ve happened to her. I could tell just by the look of her eyes, she’s only trying to hide it. Well, I guess she has a better impression on me now, which is an improvement. Good relationships start out as being friends.
++Leila’s POV
I was so close, so close to tell Ron about my problem. Good thing I was able to stop myself, or else things would be bad. Ron, there really something much more to him than I what I’ve thought. At first he seems to be this annoying, nosy, and talkative guy, but now that I’ve interacted more with him, he doesn’t seem too bad. He’s not selfish; he’s caring, and very sympathetic. He knew that I had a problem, but didn’t force me to say it. Maybe it isn’t too bad to make friends with him.

Another RL chapter! :D so...Leila's having a pretty good impression on Ron now, that's a good start now isn't it? ^^ hehe, i'll update more later! Comments please!
