Sigh…it’s a Saturday and here I am stuck at home…sick. Yeah, I’m sick. I woke up this morning feeling so dizzy I couldn’t even walk straight. My head aches like hell, threw up once, my throat is soar, and I feel myself feeling hot and cold at the same time. I think I caught the flu or something. And unfortunately, my mom isn’t home to take care of me. Around 6:00 am in the morning, she and a couple of her friends went to this temple all the way up in the mountains to do something, I don’t even know what. So now I have to take care of myself. This really sucks.
Ring ring
Oh no…that’s my cell phone ringing, and it’s outside in the living room while I’m in my bed trying to get some rest. Can’t I get some peace?! Sigh…
I then dragged myself up out of my bed then walked out to the living room to pick up my phone.
“Hello?” I said weakly
“Hey, Raymond here.” Raymond said happily
“Oh hi Ray.” I replied
“What’s the matter? You sound so…sick.” Raymond asked
“Oh I’m not sick. Just feeling a little tired that’s all.” I lied
“Don’t try to lie to me Li Qian! You’re sick!” Raymond shouted.
Why does he have to be so smart?
“Okay okay, I’m sick.” I admit
“Are you feeling any better? Need me to come over to check on you?” Raymond asked
“It’s okay. My mom is here, so I don’t need you. Thanks though.” I lied again
“Well, okay then. Hope you get better!” Raymond said
“Thanks.” I replied
“Alright, later.” Raymond said as he hung up the phone
“Bye…” I said, not wanting to hang up. Okay, main reason why I don’t want him to come up because I don’t want him to worry so much. Whenever he sees someone’s sick, then he’d be so concerned about it because health is a big concern to him. It’s important to him that all people have to be in a good condition.
After hanging up with Raymond, I walked back to my room to rest again. Hopefully this time I could get enough sleep without any distractions.
I slept for about half an hour and then my door bell rang. Oh my god, what is it now?! Again, I pulled myself out from my bed, wrapped my blanket around myself, then walked up to the door and opened it. To my surprise, it was Raymond.
“Surprise!” Raymond shouted holding up a basket filled with my favorite fruits
“What are you doing here?” I asked him
“Well, even though you said your mom is here to take care of you, but I was still worried, so I came up here to see how you are. Aren’t you so touched to have such a good friend like me to worry about you?” Raymond asked me grinning
“Yeah, so grateful of you Ray.” I said. Uh oh, my mom isn’t home; he might find out that I am lying.
“Well, don’t just stand there! Aren’t you supposed to invite me in?” Raymond asked
“Oh why of course.” I said snapping out of my thoughts. “Come on in.”
“Hey, where’s your mom?” Raymond asked
“Uhhh…she’s umm…she went to the grocery store!” I shouted
“Oh okay.” Raymond quickly responded
“Well make yourself comfortable, I’ll go get you a soda.” I said as I walked to the kitchen unstable, I still felt so dizzy. I was about to collapse onto the ground, good thing Raymond caught me on time.
“Whoa, be careful. You almost fell.” Raymond said as he supported me to sit down. “Are you sure you’re okay? You look so pale.”
“Yeah I’m fine.” I replied
“Here, why don’t you just rest here on this couch while I go make you some congee okay?” Raymond suggested
“No need to, it takes too much time, you could just go buy some congee for me, it’s real close anyways.” I said not wanting to bother him
“The congees they make aren’t good; the ones I make taste better. Don’t worry, it’ll be real quick.” Raymond answered as he went to the kitchen
I’m so happy to have Raymond here with me, or else things will get bad. I sat down on the couch for awhile, and then I slowly dozed off…
Moments later, Raymond was finished with the congee. He came up to me to wake me up.
“Qian, the congee is ready. You can wake up now.” Raymond said as he slowly tapped my shoulder
But still no response from me
“Qian, wake up.” Raymond said again, this time he tapped me some more and even harder, but I still didn’t wake up.
“Oh my god, Qian can you hear me? Wake up!” Raymond shouted. He took his arms and placed them on my shoulders and shook me, but again, I haven’t woken up yet.
Raymond then took his hand and touched my forehead. “Oh god, it’s burning hot. I have to take her to the hospital now!”
Raymond quickly carried me up and ran down to his car. While doing so I could hear him calling me to wake up. I think I heard him while I blacked out, I opened my eyes carefully and saw him with such a frightful looking face and he was sweating all over. But then I passed out again.
Raymond put me on the passenger seat and then he immediately drove to the hospital.
“Hang on, you’ll be okay Qian. I promise you.” Raymond said
When we got to the hospital, Raymond had carried me again and ran into the hospital. The nurses there had taken me into this room where later the doctor had came in to examine me. After that, they took me into this room where I could finally rest.
I could feel that I’ve been sleeping for a long time, a really long time. Well, it’s about time I wake up now. I carefully opened up my eyes, and beside me was Raymond asleep. I looked at him and smiled. I guess he heard me shuffling around, so he woke up.
“You’re awake.” Raymond said happily “You got me so scared before.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know that I was so weak and I caused all this to happen.” I said guiltily
“It’s okay; you’re fine now, so that’s good.” Raymond replied “Anyways, how are you feeling now?”
“Still kind of tired, but a lot better than before.” I responded
“Hey, why don’t you get some more rest while I go get you some congee? I’ll be right back.” Raymond said getting off the chair
“Raymond wait.” I called at him
“Yeah?”
“Can you stay here with me until I fall asleep? I really don’t want to be here alone.” I asked
“Sure.” Raymond replied as he sat back down on the chair “I’ll stay here with you until you fall asleep.”
I smiled at him sweetly and said “Thank you.”
“No problem.” Raymond replied with a smile in return “We’re best buddies remember?”
The happy smile upon my face had slowly faded away when he said “best buddies”. I then remembered that the person he’s currently in love with is Tavia, not me. But its okay, at least he spent most of the time today with me already.
“What’s wrong?” Raymond asked me as soon as he saw my smile fading away.
“Nothing, you know I can’t keep my smile on when I’m tired.” I lied
Raymond laughed and then replied “Right.”
After that, I began to fall asleep with Raymond right next to me. Whenever he’s around, I felt so much safer and finally I could get a good and peaceful sleep.
Hours had passed, and I woke up. I immediately turned around to see if Raymond’s still there, but he’s already gone. I slowly pulled myself up from lying. Enough lying around for me today, it’s time for me to sit up again. I feel so much better now, my headache is gone, and I don’t find myself feeling hot or cold anymore. I’m just warm. Then I heard some chit chattering outside of the room, and I could hear Raymond’s voice, but he was talking and laughing with someone else. Then he walked into the room with a bag along with Tavia with a bouquet of flowers in her hand.
“Hey, look who I brought here with me!” Raymond shouted, and next to him was Tavia.
“Hey Qian, how are you feeling?” Tavia asked me as she walked up closer to me. “And here’s a bouquet of flowers for you, I hope you like it.”
“Of course I like it. Thanks.” I said smiling
“You’re welcome.” Tavia replied
“And you’d have to thank me too! I made some hot congee for you.” Raymond said handing me the bowl of congee.
“Thanks.” I said sounding not so very happy. Yeah, the truth is I really wasn’t happy at all. I never expect that Raymond would bring Tavia here too.
“It was such a coincidence! I came back to your house Qian and I found Tavia walking by, so the both of us came here to visit you. You should be very happy.” Raymond said smiling and then he looked back at Tavia who too looked back at him with another smile. I then looked at the both of them with envious eyes.
Oh my god, what am I doing?! I shouldn’t be acting this way, knock it off Qian! Raymond and Tavia are meant to be together, not you and Raymond. Okay…calm down.
“Look at you two smiling so lovingly at each other!” I teased
“Shut up you.” Raymond said laughing at me while Tavia was blushing. I could tell that Tavia is beginning to like Raymond. The way she smiled and looks at him could really make you know that she does. Well, congratulations to Raymond then, he finally got what he wanted.
“Well, Raymond go take Tavia out for dinner or something! It’s already 6:30 pm!” I suggested. I really didn’t want to see them two together right in front of me all the time, it would increase my envious level even more, and I don’t want myself to feel that way. So the only way is to shoo them away.
“Well, what about you?” Raymond asked
“I’ll be fine! You two go on.” I said
“Are you sure?” Tavia asked me
“Yes! Now go already!” I shouted at both of them
Tavia and Raymond looked at each other and then back at me.
“Alright then, take care of yourself then Qian.” Raymond said walking toward the door. “If anything happens then call me, if you can’t reach me then call Ron or something.”
“Okay I know mother!” I said laughing
“Bye Qian.” Tavia said as she and Raymond walked away.
Sigh…I’m glad they’re gone. Kind of. Raymond and Tavia are going to be a pair soon, I have to find away to try to avoid them, if I keep on seeing them together then I just can’t help but get so jealous. But it isn’t possible to try to avoid them forever. Oh god, someone help me. I don’t know what to do!
