Chapter 15

Heartbroken

Chapter 14: Heartbroken

Closing the door behind her, she began descending down the stairs and made her way to her bedroom. Not long later, she arrived at her designated door and as she reached to turn on the lights, a hand grabbed her and shoved her hard against the wall before slamming the door closed next to her.

Catching her breath in shock, Hebe cried, “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

“I ask you the same question!”

“I don’t even know what you’re talking about, Aaron!” she yelled and shoved her arms at his chest.

“Stop acting all innocent, what were you doing with Yunho?” he shouted.

“It’s none of your goddamn business and let me go, you lunatic!” Hebe cried. He didn’t.

“You promised you would never hurt me! You’re hurting me now,” Hebe screamed and something in Aaron snapped. He withdrew his arms and stepped back.

“So is this your answer?” he asked.

“What answer?”

“You choose Yunho, you like him.”

“What are you on about?” Hebe questioned, she was so confused.

“I know, I understand. After all this, you’ve chosen Yunho. I am still nothing to you,” Aaron said.

“Aaron-”

“You could’ve told me earlier. You didn’t have to give me hope.” Hebe saw tears in his eyes.

“Listen to me-”

“It’s enough!” Aaron yelled. “I don’t want to listen anymore. If this is what you want then let it be. I’ll marry Rainie! You can be with Yunho! You can be with whoever you like! It’s none of my business anymore!” He turned around and walked to the door but Hebe grabbed his wrist.

“Aaron!”

“Didn’t you say that? It’s none of my business! If this is what you want, I’ll give it to you!” he said and a tear slipped out of his eyes. He yanked his arm away and walked out of the door, slamming it behind him.

Hebe slid to the ground and placed a hand over her mouth. Her tears flowed uncontrollably down her face. How did this happen? How did everything come to this?

“Maybe it’s for the best…” she mumbled softly, “you’ll have to marry Rainie sooner or later. I’ll rather you do it willingly, one person being hurt am better than three people being hurt.”

It was enough to know she once owned his heart.

---

Stepping out to the garden, Hebe gave a big stretch. A new day, just forget about everything that happened. “Start new, start happy, you can do it, Hebe,” was what she kept repeating in her mind. She knew her mum’s life still depended on her. She couldn’t give up now, she had to find a way to save both of them.

“Aren’t you going to go down for breakfast?” she heard and turned around to find Yunho.

“Sure,” Hebe smiled, “but I need you to do me a favor.”

---

Walking down the stairs, Hebe’s heart hammered against her chest. Stay steady; she told herself, it was the only way to make him believe. She could feel her hand shaking even though it was entwined with Yunho’s. She could feel herself sweating for no particular reason. She could feel how hard it was to act natural.

“Yunho!” Hebe heard Rainie yell. Looking up, she saw her eyeing their hands before breaking into a smile. “I think there’s something fishy going on.”

Hebe could feel how uneasy Yunho was finding this. She wondered if he could take this, whether he could act all the way through. “Ignore us,” Hebe giggled, trying to act natural. She pulled Yunho to a seat with her and sat down. She could feel Aaron’s eyes on her, it wasn’t helping at all. He wouldn’t look away and she knew if she looked up into his eyes, he’ll know. He’ll know she was acting, he’ll know it wasn’t true. She had to ignore him.

“What is there for breakfast today?” she smiled at Rainie.

“Bacon, eggs, toast, just the usual stuff,” she answered.

“Nice…” Hebe cried.

“Do you guys want to play badminton later? Aaron and I can verse you guys,” Rainie suggested.

Hebe looked at Yunho and saw him swallow his saliva nervously. A gangster, a leader, and a brother he was but an actor, he was so not. “Maybe tomorrow,” Hebe said, “we want some private time today.”

Rainie burst into giggles but Aaron flung his napkin onto his plate of food and left the table harshly, causing an awkward silence amongst the table. “I’ll see what’s wrong with him,” Rainie cried and ran after him, calling his name. Hebe could practically feel the napkin being flung at her. He was so angry, he was so upset.

“Hebe, are you ok?” Yunho asked and held her hands. They were shaking.

“I’m fine, just a little shocked.”

“Are you sure you really want to do this? Aaron has a very bad temper, I don’t know what he’ll do next time. He might push the table over or throw knives at us.”

“He said he’ll never hurt me, he won’t. I trust him, he won’t,” Hebe answered.

“You’re really letting go, just like this? You’re just going to break his heart?”

She looked up into his eyes, “It’s the only way for Rainie to find happiness. Only way for him to be safe. Only way for him to marry Rainie willingly. He needs to forget about me, he needs to forget my existence. He needs to forget all his feelings for me.”

Yunho looked at her sympathetically and gave a small nod. He was the one that first suggested for this to happen, he should be happy shouldn’t he? He should be happy he got his way but seeing her like this, seeing his favourite cousin so heartbroken.

Was this really the right thing to do?

Author's Note:

I'm so sorry to have you guys wait for a month before this update. I've been very busy and this story wasn't my priority either but I love it as I created the storyline. I just need more support in this story to motivate me in updating more. The amount of readers are very limited and it's killing me. I really don't want to end it here, I want to continue it to the end but without readers, what's the point?

@tee: Thanks for your support in every story I'm writing at the moment. It's really cool how you comment a very long comment in every story I have, I really wonder how you think of so much to say. And I don't mean I don't like those long comments, I'm just surprised how consistent your support is. It's very sweet of you to always leave me comments, whether it's an update or not. I really appreciate your feedback, thanks for being so considerate. :)

So guys, please comment.

It makes a real difference!

Love,
