“I don’t want to be here, please let me go. Please!” pleaded Hebe, crying to the old woman, “I need to save my mum, I need to be with her!”
“Oh sweetheart, calm down. You’ll be fine here and your mum is safe. Well, at least she’s safe as long as she doesn’t anger the chief.”
“What chief? Who’s the chief?” asked Hebe.
“The chief is the master’s uncle. He brought him up. Master’s parents passed away when he was very young,” explained the woman with sorrow.
“Mary! She doesn’t need to know anything about me” A voice came from the door. The master, Aaron had stepped into the room without either of the ladies knowing which frightened Hebe. He was skilful, that she had to admit.
“How many times did I tell you not to tell her anything about us? She’s not family, she doesn’t need to know anything about us. Do you understand?” bellowed Aaron, his voice furious clearly unhappy with Mary’s behavior.
“I’m sorry Master,” apologized Mary and went back to her work and organized the materials needed for Hebe’s bath.
Hebe looked at Aaron with disgust. She detested this man and she was so sure she would until her last breath. A man with a face of an angel but a heart of a devil, she thought, what a pity. Aaron didn’t look quite pleased with her either, as far as she concerned, he might be eager to stab her to death. Why wouldn’t he do that, she thought, what was she even here for?
“The bath is ready,” said Mary, “Do you need me for anything?”
“Uh…no…I’ll be fine,” replied Hebe still unused to the service let alone understand it. Mary was dismissed by the wave of Aaron’s hand but he kept his stance still.
“Do you mind? I need to take a bath,” complained Hebe, frowning at him.
“And?”
“What and? I need to bathe so you need to leave. You’re in the way.”
“No I’m not, the bath is over there and I’m all the way here.”
“Are you trying to be funny? If you are, you seriously have some mental disorder to think that was hilarious. You’re in the way for me to close the door.”
“Well, if you want someone to leave, you should say it politely. You need to learn manners,” Aaron said with a scowl, “And with the comment about my humor, you must’ve misunderstood me. Humor does not run in my family and we will appreciate the amount of nonsense coming out of your mouth to decrease.”
“Who are you to say all these bull crap to me?” challenged Hebe her head high with pride.
“Someone that can punish you until you cannot even utter a single word,” threatened Aaron walking up closer to her. Hebe made a face and snorted, disrespecting and underestimating him.
“What can you do to me?” laughed Hebe, sending a look of hatred to him.
“I can do a lot of things,” Aaron replied, trapping her in a corner of the bathroom which made Hebe feel vulnerable but she would fight him with every breath she had.
“Like what?”
“Like this,” he smirked, an evilness Hebe could not describe. Before Hebe could fire anything back he pinned her against the wall and smashed his lips against hers. Hebe thrashed against him with everything in her but his strength was his advantage. He kissed her with roughness which told her he was punishing her. He forced her lips open and slid his tongue in, tangling hers with his which Hebe protested against. He slid his hands inside her shirt and felt her soft skin. Hebe screamed but the sound was muffled by his mouth. Aaron unhooked her bra and pushed the material away before he let himself in the pleasure of feeling her. Hebe punched him and kicked him but he didn’t even budge until he finally decided to let go of her. Hebe slid onto the floor and cried, wrapping her arms around herself while she looked at him with hostility.
“You hear me girl? This is what you get if you disobey me and the next time you won’t be so lucky. We will take it further, even further than this,” he threatened; his voice full of venom, his eyes ice cold then he left the room.
Right after he left, Mary came rushing in to her side. “Oh dear, I’m so sorry,” she cried while she wrapped her arms around her, a sign of protection. Hebe shook with fear and fury. If there was anything she could be so sure of, it would be this. She hated him, she hated him so much. She loathed him; she didn’t want to be anywhere near him.
“I hate him, I hate him….” Hebe repeated out loud while her tears cascaded down her face.

Hebe sat in the bathtub while candles were lit around her. The lights were dim and she had the place to herself. She looked out the window to see the place dark and she heard the soft soothing sound of the ocean. She held up the laminated band-aid she had with her and tears started forming in her eyes. She felt like she cheated on him which was pretty stupid because there were no vows made between them.
“Where are you?” she cried to the band-aid, “I need you. I need you to be with me. I want to see you, I want to meet you. I hate myself so much; I’m so weak and vulnerable. I can’t even defend myself. I really really hate this place. I know you’ll be different from that bastard. Save me please…save me from this place…protect me.”
Hebe closed her eyes as her tears escaped from her eyelids. She slid down the bathtub and rested her whole body against the bottom of the tub, embracing herself with warm water. Her tears would not be seen by anything, anyone. Her cries will not be heard by anyone. She didn’t want anyone to think she was weak, especially the man she detested the most. The man who ruined her life and crushed her spirit, she will never let him anywhere near the pleasure of seeing her in pain. He would be wrong if he thought she would give up and be a good little puppet for him to play around with. Aaron Yan, she hated him with every single cell in her body.
