“Are you going to inherit your uncle’s position?” Hebe suddenly asked, taking Aaron by surprise.
“I don’t know, he doesn’t have any children and I’m his closest blood-related family member.”
“But do you want to?” Hebe asked and turned to her side to face him. Aaron looked away from her deciding not to answer her question.
“Will you have to do the same thing as Yunho? Forget about your own life and take after business from your family even if you are not willing to?”
“I don’t know,” Aaron said finally after a long minute of silence.
“Do you want to live your life in violence?” Hebe asked softly, she didn’t want to make him angry and she didn’t want to step into his family business so much but she also didn’t want him to let his life be consumed by this whole family inheritance crap.
“Do you think the boy that helped you at the park would want to be living in darkness forever?” Aaron asked her and Hebe shook her head.
“In my heart, he’s someone that would stand up for things he believes in. He wouldn’t do things that hurt people and he wouldn’t let others hurt him. He has the ability to protect the ones he loves,” Hebe said and got up to get the band-aid.
“This is the band-aid he used on my wound that day,” Hebe said and let Aaron have a look at it.
“Did you get more of them? You can only get them in Japan,” Aaron said and gave the band-aid back to Hebe.
“I know but after my father’s death we didn’t have enough money to go to Japan,” Hebe said and slid the band-aid into her pocket.
“I need to go to the toilet,” Hebe told Aaron before stepping into the washroom. She closed the door and smiled as she thought of all the things she did when she was young, trying to find the boy. Waiting at that place again and again, asking people that went there often if they had seen this boy. She begged her mum to find her the same band-aids but they never found any and eventually her mum told her they were just available in Japan. You wouldn’t believe how upset she was.
Band-aid?
Japan?
The park?
Hebe gasped as she turned off the tap. How did Aaron know you could only get the band-aid in Japan? She never told him and how did he know the boy helped her in the park, she didn’t say anything relating to that. How did he know? Hebe unlocked the door and pushed it with so much force that it hit the wall with so much noise that Aaron sat up from the bed.
“Who are you?” Hebe asked, afraid of the answer.
“What do you mean who am I? I’m-”
“How did you know the boy helped me at the park? How did you know you can only get the band-aid from Japan?” Hebe said, her voice full of energy. Aaron remained silent as stared at her. How could he let such things slip by his mouth? Why wasn’t he more careful with his words? Maybe it was because of the wine?
“Who are you?” Hebe demanded.
Aaron stood up and said, “I’m the boy that helped you when you were three. The boy who bandaged your wound when you fell.”
Hebe shook her head furiously and walked backwards, “You can’t be.”
“You can’t be!” Hebe screamed.
“I am,” Aaron said, he felt something clench his heart. The feeling of rejection, not being accepted was painful.
“Why?” Hebe said, tears gathering around her eyes, “Why did you have to break the only dream I had?”
“Hebe-”
“I hate you!” Hebe yelled and slammed the door before collapsing onto the floor with tears streaming down her face. He wasn’t meant to be like that, he wasn’t.
“Hebe!” she heard Aaron call from the room, “I’m sorry if I’m not the prince that you thought I would be. I just found out when I saw your band-aid last night when you fell asleep. I really didn’t know before…I’m sorry for everything I did to you.”
“Shut up!” Hebe screamed and covered her ears with her hands. Aaron closed his eyes as he suppressed the urge to cry, no one had made him cry ever since his parents disappeared. No one ever had the power to and he felt incredibly weak that Hebe had the power to do so, he was afraid with how much she meant to him.
“I’m sorry…” he murmured softly before leaving the bedroom. Hebe heard the click of the door and she burst into tears.
“He wasn’t meant to be like that, he was meant to be an angel. Someone that protected me and cared for me not someone that would hurt my mother and hurt people for his own benefit! I don’t want this!” Hebe screamed.
The time when he touched her and forcefully kissed her flashed in her mind. The time when he appeared at his house and kidnapped her, when he hit her on the shoulder and make her faint crowded her mind and Hebe slammed her fists against the door. She cried and cried, she couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
“How did he turn out to be a person like this?” Hebe cried softly, “How could he be the person that I’ve been waiting for so long, the person that I practically trust more than my own mother? How can he be the person that gave me the happiest moments in my life and the most painful moments as well?”
“Why?” Hebe yelled.
---
Aaron walked into the library which was located on the second highest floor of the mansion; he sat on the sofa that was in front of the window which ran from the ceiling to the floor surrounding the whole room and closed his eyes. He had always wanted to find her but he never imagined her rejection. Who would want someone like him, Aaron thought, he was violent and cold. Sometimes he wondered how his life turned out to be like this, where was the person that used to laugh and cheer people up? Where had the Aaron that his parents did everything to protect from the evil and complicated family backgrounds gone?
Why had he let Hebe down? The only person that still remembers how he was fourteen years ago and still treasured the memory. Someone who actually relied on him and trusted him even when she hardly knew him?
She saw him as someone that was so important, so dear to her but she couldn’t accept him as who he was now.
Aaron had disappointed her with the way he is after fourteen years.
---
Aaron went back to his room at midnight to find Hebe lying under the covers of the bed with her back to him. He closed the door and stepped across the room to her and crouched down. Her eyes were closed and she was breathing steadily. Hebe’s face was stained with dried tears.
“I missed you,” Aaron said softly, stroking her hair out of her face, “Where were you during these years? I’ve been looking for you, looking for you so long. I felt so lonely.”
Aaron slid into the bed on the other side and wrapped his arms around Hebe; he pulled her into his embrace and closed his arms around her protectively. He could only do this when she was asleep, when she didn’t know. He could only show her his affection for her when she was unaware and at other times he had to wear a mask.
Would it have been better if she didn’t find out about the truth? If she didn’t know he was the one fourteen years ago?
Would it have been better?
“I wish you can accept me as who I am even if I was the opposite of who I was fourteen years ago,” Aaron whispered.
He kissed her cheek and closed his eyes, savoring the moment where he was so close to her, a time when he knew she wouldn’t disappear suddenly again. However, unknown to Aaron, Hebe was awake. She heard everything he said.
I’m sorry, Hebe thought, but I just can’t accept this. I can’t accept this fact.
A tear escaped from her closed eyes and slid down her face, like the longing to meet the person that meant so much to her. It had left her body, the anticipation; the hope in seeing that person again, had left who she was.
The truth had crushed her completely.

Author's Note:
Did anyone expect this when Hebe found out who he was?
Everyone couldn't wait for them the reunite, I think no one thought this would be the consequence.
Also, let me classify something, the new poster does not have any, let me repeat, any affect to how my story goes. It's still the same story as the one I thought of at the beginning. The new poster only indicates a new character, a new major character in this story. Before, no one knew who would be the other character, it was a mystery and now he's been introduced. It gives you an idea how this story is heading.
Yeah, so please comment, I spent a lot of time writing so please give me some feedback. It'll be nice to hear from you.
Love,
