Chapter 9
Hey! Don't Bring Me Down
From that day onwards, the boy cherished everything he had even more. He practices extremely hard, have put in his all to strive for perfectness in his vocals and dance performance. In order to expressed his gratitude towards his fans support, he always looked around in the audience when during their performance despite being forbid to do so again and again by the director.
Director: Jae Joong ah~ it looks a bit weird if you look around while you sings. It’s better if you just stare at one particular spot.
Jae Joong: Sorry, PD. But if I told you the reason I do so, you wouldn’t understand. (In actual fact, he wants to see each and every fans out there, looking ugly in front of the camera have not been a issue which he concerned about anymore).
Bad luck soon made its way to Jae Joong’s life once more.When they are rehearsing the dance steps for "Rising Sun", Jae Joong ruptured his cartilage in his knee. Although it is normal to fell during dance practice, but this time is exceptional. This time, he couldn’t got back to his knees and it was hurting like crazy. The pain was unbearable, and Jae Joong yelled in pain while holding his feet with his hands. The pain was as his blood vessels and veins were pulled by invisible force.
Yunho as swiftly as lightning, piggyback Jae Joong and took him to the nearest hospital by car. Upon reaching the hospital, he was wheeled into the emergency room. Soon, the figure of the rest of his bandmate getting further and further distance apart till the emergency room’s door blocked his vision of them. He underwent a surgery to repair the tissue on the same day.
DBSK (minus Jae Joong) waited for a few hours in front of the emergency room, feeling anxious and worried about his condition. Other than praying for the success of the operation, they felt helpless for there’s nothing else they could do but wait patiently for the doctor outside the emergency room.
They have waited for 10 hours, and finally the “Emergency room light” was off and the doctor walked out of the room.
Doctor: May I know who’s Kim Jae Joong’s relatives or friends?
Yunho: Doctor, how’s my friend?
Doctor: Urm, don’t worry. His condition is stable but...his right knee is badly injured. It will takes some time to recover. For the time being, it’s not suitable for him to practice dancing or walks a lot as usual.
Yunho: Can we visit the patient now?
Doctor: You can after we transfer him to the ward, but don’t make so much noise. The patient need some rest now. He’s still unconscious.
Yunho: Thank you, doctor.

2 days after the surgery, Jae Joong insisted on attending the fans meeting in Seoul despite his condition haven’t recovered. Throughout the fans meeting, Yunho didn’t leave Jae Joong’s side for even a second. During the fans meeting, a reporter asked Changmin what he wants for New Year.
Changmin: I wish for Jae Joong hyung to get better soon.
After hearing, Jae Joong who hates crying, tried his hard to remain calm and not to cried in front of him fans. But when he looked at his fans, he saw them crying for him. This is his first time of his life he tell lies.
Jae Joong: (picked the microphone) Dont worry, I’m fine. I’m not hurting at all. Please don’t cried for me. Let’s together face it with smiles, ok?
Everyone knew that he lied. It was within 24 hours after the surgery. They knew that it must be very painful. But he bears the suffering and insisted of attending this fans gathering to show his love and gratitude for his fans. If not for his fans’ support, now he won’t be on the stage with the rest of the members. Without their support, he might not achieve his dream of becoming an artiste, he might still be a nobody, hopping from one job to another, starving and feeds on customers’ food left-over.
Tears were formed in his eyes and he can’t hold his tears any longer.
