It’s been a year and a half since Ynah went to America. She’s clueless of everything that happened here in Korea since her parents won’t even allow her to have any communication with any of us... especially with Yoochun. And if she did, it was only her chance to sneak away from her parents. But once or twice, even a hundred times, I had thought that it would be better if Ynah would stay there permanently and just forget about us because seriously, I don’t know how I could break the bad news to her... the bad news that will totally rip her heart into pieces.
I was at the bar where Yesung and I plotted the vacation for Yoochun and Ynah before. But this time, I was alone... alone and frustrated... I was drinking to the thought that my mind will let go of the things that bothers me but my heart, although feeling a bit numb at the moment, it was still suffering a deep lamentation that no one or anything will be able to erase. Flashbacks and replays of everything that transpired for the past two years came to my mind. I was lost in my thoughts that I didn’t even realize that I already drank twelve bottles of beer. I was pulled back into reality when a pair of hands covered my eyes from behind.
“Guess who...” the voice spoke.
**No... It can’t be...** I said to myself as fear crept on my spine. “Y-Ynah?...”
She took away her hands and sat on the empty seat at my right side. “Hey, Wookie! Long time no see... How are you?” Ynah grinned at my face.
I kept quiet, afraid to speak. I was surprised that she’s back but it’s still the event that I wasn’t expecting to happen soon... not now... my whole system’s still not ready to face her and tell her the truth...
“Hey! Aren’t you glad that I’m back? You looked like you’ve seen a ghost or something. Yah! Say something...” she demanded.
“Y-Ynah...” I stammered, still speechless.
“Aish! Can’t you speak anything else other than my name?” she pouted. “Anyway, I intentionally came to see you first when I arrived here. I want to ask a favor from you.”
“Fa... favor?” Gosh! This is hard. Of all the people... Why me?!
“What are you so nervous about?” she crossed her arms and looked at me seriously but she continued her statement. “So here’s the thing... I want to surprise Yoochun oppa that I’m back... can you help plan an event, please?...”
I gulped. I want to runaway but it’s like I was chained to where I’m sitting. No matter what... she still needs to know the truth... ”Uhmm... Ynah... there’s something you should know...” I finally said.
“What is it? You’re acting really weird. Are you hiding something?” she suspected.
“Just rest first. You’ll need it. I’ll pick you up at the park later. I have to show you something,” I said expressionless. I jumped out of my seat and left without turning back. I heard her call out my name but I didn’t dare to look back because if I did, I don’t think I’ll be able to suppress my grievances to myself anymore.
Like what I said, she waited at the park until I picked her up. The whole drive was quiet but I knew that she’s still bothered by my actions. I think she was afraid to ask because she knew that I’ll be giving her the cold shoulder again.
We arrived at our destination about four to five in the afternoon. We began walking through the gates with me leading the way while she was following me and probably wondering why we were at such place.
“Uhmm... Wookie... Why are we here?” she finally let out the curiosity within her after three minutes of walking.
“Just follow me...” I said firmly.
She stopped from walking and shouted. “Wookie! You’re not answering any of my questions at all since earlier! What are we doing at a graveyard?!”
I stopped from walking and turned around. “We’re here.” I spoke and my eyes rolled down on the grave beside my foot.
She slowly approached me and soon her eyes fell on the plaque that I was staring down at. I looked at her to see her eyes widened and with tears brimming from the corners of it. She fell on her knees and felt the plaque that was engraved with Yoochun’s name on it.
“Yoochun!” she cried.
“Ynah... mianhae... we tried to tell you but it was hard to do that in your situation... jeongmal mianhaeyo...” I couldn’t help but to cry at her heartbreaking sight.
She looked up at me, trying hard to control her emotions. “What happened to him?” she asked with voice trembling.
I accompanied her to the nearest tree that we could see. I sat her down and waited until she could calm down. But that didn’t happen so I blurted out everything when her sobbing was lessened.
“It was four months ago. Yoochun... he was still thinking of you even before the accident happened,” I started.
“A... accident?” she asked between her sobs.
I nodded. “He couldn’t take his depression anymore. He just can’t take the fact that he can’t do anything to even hear your voice. He took it hard on himself so one day, he thought of going back to the island where the both of you got stranded to at least ease a bit of his misery by reminiscing everything that happened between he both of you at that place. When he was going back...” I paused when tears streamed down again my cheeks. “...he didn’t know there was a storm coming and the yacht he was using was eaten by the waves. Days after, his body was found... lifeless.” I broke down into a cry.
“Yoochun... Pabo! You should’ve just waited for me,” she clenched her fists and started to sob tremendously again.
“Anio. He’s not a fool for loving you...” I slowly took a bottle from my bag which contains a scrolled paper inside it. “Here... we found it on his belongings the same day we found his body. I guess it’s for you...” I handed her the bottle.
Her hands were shaking as it took the bottle from me. She hugged it tightly against her chest, “Yoochun...”
