[Few days later at LiRa]
"LeeHaNeul."
When HaNeul heard WooHyuk's voice, she looked up from her physics book she was
studying. He was standing right in front of her desk. He handed her a CD that was
entitled, "Bach's Concerto for Two Violins."
"Come to my house at 7 tonight. And bring your violin."
He told her nonchalantly. She gave him an agreeing look as she received the CD and
resumed back to studying.
She wished KangTa could go to the festival in place of her. Music meant all to him and
she wanted to give what he desired the most; going to the music academy. She knew he
could get in through the connection his family had with the school, but he would not like
the idea very much.
WooHyuk just noticed when he turned around that her eyes were brown again.
************
[That afternoon]
"Why don't you like this color, huh? You're driving me crazy, WooHyuk. I knew I
should've known better than to come shopping with you."
Tony whined and complained and mourned for his poor legs. WooHyuk just smiled.
"You are the one who wanted to do something. Now let's go get some ice cream."
WooHyuk and Tony got out of the clothes store and headed towards the food court.
Strangely, the only person who could actually get along with crooked WooHyuk was
probably Tony. And Tony was very similar to KangTa in many ways. Even the way they
loved someone.....
WooHyuk remembered what KangTa had told him few days ago.
'Leave her alone from now on.'
"Umm... let's go somewhere else, WooHyuk."
Tony mumbled and grabbed WooHyuk's arm, looking away from the food court.
WooHyuk shook it off.
"What? But I want some ice cream, I'm thirsty. Let's just stay here."
WooHyuk said defiantly and searched for some seats, until he saw....
He saw KangTa and HaNeul at the table in front of the ice cream shop.
He froze on the spot.
They were laughing together. Apparently KangTa was trying to spoon feed her but she
objected. They looked almost like a picture perfect. Too happy.....
Her eyes were warm looking, ready to embrace her love at any given moment. They
weren't the same eyes that gazed at WooHyuk earlier at school. She sure is good at
switching characters, isn't she.....
WooHyuk felt his body muscles gradually tightening up. Tony saw his reaction.
"I told you to go somewhere else. Now are you going to go beat them up?"
Tony questioned mockingly. He then smirked.
"You do like her, don't you?"
"Hell no," WooHyuk answered monotonously, "she makes me sick. I want to kill her. I
don't know what KangTa sees in her."
"Same thing as you, probably," said Tony, "her blue eyes. They tell you so much, don't
they? I was surprised to see them when we first met her. You shoved her off to the
ground and her lenses popped out. I still remember your reaction at that moment."
"What was my reaction?" WooHyuk asked, still in monotone. He was half listening to
Tony, but his attention was mostly fixed on the distant couple sitting away from him.
"You fell in love with her right away," Tony replied shortly.
"Let's go sit somewhere else."
Ignoring Tony's response, WooHyuk started walking away from the food court. Tony
sighed and shook his head.
"No, we are going to get some ice cream. You are thirsty, remember?"
Tony then grabbed WooHyuk's arm and practically dragged him along the floor.
Meanwhile, KangTa and HaNeul were busy talking about whatever came up in their
minds. That was the joy of being together.
"Say 'ahh'" KangTa smiled and snatched her spoon away from her. She tried to get it
back but he kept on teasing her.
"I can eat my own ice cream, sheesh!" she rolled her eyes and twigged his forehead with
her fingers.
"Oww! I'm just trying to be nice here!" he whined.
Tony purposely chose a table close from the two, but where they couldn't be seen.
WooHyuk frowned.
"What are you doing this for? I lost my appetite already."
"Are you jealous? Say 'ahh' and I'll feed you," Tony taunted as he held WooHyuk's spoon
up, which resulted in WooHyuk hitting his head.
"What?! It looked like you wanted to be spoon fed!" Tony said furiously as he rubbed his
head. And his face became serious again.
"If you like her that much, then just let her be happy with KangTa."
"I hate her. I despise her. She's so resilient and relentless and it bugs. I want to destroy
her until she begs me to stop," WooHyuk responded with sharpness in his voice.
"You are very much like how I was 2 years ago," Tony laughed bitterly, "when things
didn't go my way, I wanted to destroy it."
"So you hired people to beat up JaeHee's boyfriend, I remember," said WooHyuk in
reminiscence.
"Yeah, but when I finally did have her in my arms as I wanted, look what happened,"
Tony spoke in a sad voice.
WooHyuk's face softened up a little bit.
"It wasn't your fault, it was just an accident," WooHyuk said comfortingly.
"You and HeeJun are probably the only ones who still believe it was an accident. I was
crossing the street with her at the time. What are the chances of it being an accident when
the car hit only her, and not me? My parents told the driver to do so. And when they
found out that she didn't die on the spot, they went ahead and screwed up the surgery.
Then there she went... gone forever. All because I wanted her... my possessiveness...."
Tony's hand began to tremble as he clenched his fist.
"It's over. You can't change what happened in the past," said WooHyuk. But Tony shot
him a look filled with hatred.
"It's about to happen again because you won't leave HaNeul alone."
"Look, it's my life and you can't tell me what to do or what not to do, okay? I'm going to
do whatever that pleases me."
WooHyuk was too stubborn for Tony to persuade. Tony sighed.
"Does KangTa's friendship mean anything to you? I thought BIG 5 was created so we
could look out for each other. Just leave her alone, WooHyuk. Look how happy she is
when she's with my cousin. I've never seen her smile so brightly."
WooHyuk noticed how beautiful and attractive she was when she smiled.
If only that smile was meant for him....
***************
That night, WooHyuk waited HaNeul to come as he was sightreading his music.
He heard a sound of car engine outside his house. He looked out to the window and saw
KangTa's Eclipse.
"Are you sure you don't want me to come? I mean, I could stay..." KangTa told her. She
shook her head.
"Your parents just paged you. You should be going home. Don't worry, I'll be fine."
"As soon as my grandparents come back from their vacation, I'm telling them about us,"
said KangTa.
"Take your time, I can wait. Good night then."
She smiled and waited for him to kiss her goodbye. But this time, he didn't.
"WooHyuk's watching."
KangTa gestured her to turn around and look up. She looked up and saw WooHyuk
standing by his window with his arms crossed. He didn't look too happy that she was 20
minutes late because she was on a date.
When she did come into his room after KangTa left, her appearance was so cold and icy.
The warmth she carried earlier was nowhere to be seen. Her face was without a smile.
"Did you listen to the CD I gave you?" WooHyuk asked. She just nodded.
"Okay, then. Let's start."
She opened her case and applied some rosin to her bow. She then checked the strings to
see if they were in tune.
As surprising as it was, WooHyuk had a real talent when it came to playing violin. It was
almost as if he turned into a completely different person. HaNeul sometimes wondered if
the person playing in front of her at the moment was the same WooHyuk. But she figured
she didn't care enough to think about it.
"You skipped the whole measure here," WooHyuk snapped as he stopped playing.
"Oh, I did? I'm sorry," she apologized sheepishly. "Could you play it for me then?"
"Read it for yourself," WooHyuk said coldly as he used his bow to point at the music.
Instead of looking at the music, she stared at him with a blank expression on her face.
WooHyuk narrowed his eyes at her reaction.
"What?"
"You always ask me to do the hardest things. First you tell me to cry, now you tell me to
do this. You know I can't read music."
She sighed as she spoke boldly. But the second she finished her sentence, she realized
what she had said. She just talked back to JangWooHyuk.
"Come again, what did you say?" WooHyuk demanded forcefully as he doubted his ears.
He sat his instrument on the table and started approaching her, very slowly.
"Not...nothing. Let's just continue."
She said nervously and started backing away from him. She seemed like a deer that was
about to be run over by a car. She had angered him again.
"How was your date today with KangTa?" he asked as he kept on approaching her. She
was startled by his abrupt question.
"It... it was fun..."
Her legs began shaking. He had the same eyes she saw that one night in the hallway....
very frightening.
She made a run to the door of his room, but he dashed in front of her so she couldn't get
out. He reached for the doorknob and locked it so no one could access his room from
outside. He then reached over to the light switch and used his right index finger to turn it
off.
The room was not too dark because the moonlight was shining through the window,
litting his room somewhat. She could still see him and he could still see her, but only the
vague silhouettes.
"Why do you always try to run away from me? I know you are not scared of me."
WooHyuk gazed into the wide and afraid eyes looking back at him, entrapped in the room
that she obviously didn't want to be in.
She continued to back away from him, but since the door was not an option, she was
walking back towards his bed. Her nervous hand had already dropped the violin she was
holding, causing a heavy sound as it hit the ground.
"Oh, and did you like it when he tried to spoon feed you your ice cream at the mall today?
It seemed really cute."
"How ... how did you know..?"
She stuttered as she tried to compose herself, but with a pair of frightening eyes staring at
her in the dark, it was certainly not an easy thing to do. He continued to walk slowly
towards her.
'Oh, smart LeeHaNeul. You have nowhere to escape now.'
She thought miserably when she felt his bed hitting her legs.
Before she could even blink her eyes in confusion and fear, WooHyuk pushed her onto his
bed.
"And I bet you really liked it when he kissed you like this."
He sneered and whispered as he leaned his body closer to hers, who was sitting on his bed
now.
"KangTa won't like it when he finds out you're doing this," she whispered back spitefully
as she pushed him back.
"Oooh, I'm scared. You're going to rat on me now? When did you get so bold and brave,
HaNeul? I sure didn't know you had this side."
WooHyuk said sarcastically and pushed her down harder this time, until she was pinned on
his bed on her back.
"Get off me!"
She shrilled and pushed him away from her body. She tried to get up and make a run to
the door, but he grabbed her shoulders and pushed her back down. He held her down by
her wrists so she couldn't move.
She could clearly view his lips coming down to meet her lips in the moonlight. She shook
her head left and right to avert him and kicked her legs in the air to shake him off of her,
but he was way stronger than her and none of her efforts seemed to be working.
He started unbuttoning her blouse with his left hand while holding down on her left wrist
with his right hand.
"No WooHyuk!"
She screamed once again when she felt his cold hand on her neck as he fumbled with the
buttons of her garment.
Soon she could feel his lips as he dug his head into her neck to lay kisses on her. It was a
gross feeling to have someone else other than KangTa, especially WooHyuk, to touch her
body. His fingers were still in the process of unbuttoning her blouse, which was already
half way open. He slided the sleeves down along with her bra straps, to reveal her bare
shoulders.
She tried to fight back but found it no use. His weight was completely shifted on top of
hers so she couldn't move at all.
She finally gave up and let him take over her.
'I am sorry I only cause you pain.
Because that's just how I am.
What I hate about you the most is your excessive indifference.
But you will learn to care just a little now.
Because after tonight, you will be mine forever.
No one can have you if I can't have you.'
With only one purpose in his mind, he continued to lay kisses filled with obsession yet
passion on her neck. He moved down to her shoulder blades and left his marks there as
well.
Her body just laid on his bed still and lifeless. She didn't even squirm in this ordeal as she
patiently waited for him to finish. She sadly closed her eyes and emptied her mind. He
was now kissing her collarbones.
"Why aren't you resisting?"
WooHyuk lifted his head up when he noticed that she wasn't moving an inch.
"Waiting for you to finish me off so I can go home."
She replied in a dull, monotonous voice.
"Don't you know what I'm about to take away here?!"
WooHyuk stopped what he was doing and stared down at her face. Her eyes that were
brown and lifeless stared back at him.
"I don't care. Whatever you do has no meaning to me."
Those were her words, when he was about to deprive her of her most precious belonging.
Not words of defense or fight, but of pure apathy....
"Damn you....."
He stooped his head low in lack of hope, letting his bangs brush her neck.
'I can't break her.... just like HeeJun said....'
"Why are you doing this anyway? I never did you any wrong."
Her cold voice rang in the room and in his head. He felt her soft breath as she spoke her
words.
He slowly lifted his face up and faced her again. She looked very unruffled and
composed, but her eyes seemed weary in the moonlight. It's been a long day.....
He sighed of bitterness and let out the words he thought he would never tell her.
"I'm in love with you. That's why."
