Chapter 11

Part 11

After he uttered out his confession unexpectedly, the two laid in the dark for a long time.
Her head was tilted sideways facing the window. Her bare shoulders glowed in the
moonlight.

He was still holding down on her wrists, only this time without strength.

"Do...do I need to repeat myself?"

WooHyuk stuttered in a whisper.

"No...I heard you the first time...."

HaNeul whispered back in a weary voice. "And what do you want me to do about it?"

"Dump KangTa and be my fiancee instead," WooHyuk said without hesitation.

Her lips formed into a smile full of cynicism in the darkness. She slowly turned her head
and looked squarely into his eyes.

"Like I said earlier, you always ask me to perform the hardest tasks... things I can't and
will never do."

She emphasized the word 'never'.

She winced immediately after she spoke, for WooHyuk dug his fingers into her wrists real
deeply, not permitting a slight movement.

"I can just taint you right here, right now and tell KangTa about it. See if he'll still like
you the same way when you are no longer pure."

He lowered his head once again and forced her mouth open with his tenacious lips. For
once he was able to enjoy the lusciousness of her lips that she once gave him willingly out
of spite.

However, despite the fact that he was the one in charge at the moment, WooHyuk
couldn't erase the feeling that he was losing to her.

And he never, not even once, allowed himself to be the one to lose.

HaNeul arrived home not long after. Her mind was in a disarray and a chaos.

The first thing she did was to go into the bathroom and turn on the hot water. It was
unusually hot and steamy, enough to burn her skin. But she didn't care. She grabbed a
bath towel and put profuse amount of soap on it. She rubbed it against her skin, wishing
that she could wash herself of all the impurities.

She rubbed her specially 'infected' areas, her neck and shoulders, so furiously that the skin
layer was starting to peel off.

~Ring ring~

KangTa glanced at the clock on the wall in his room. It read 1 o'clock. He wondered
who in the right mind would call at this hour and picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

There was a long silence on the other line.

"Hello? Please speak if you called."

"................"

"Okay then..." KangTa gave a dirty look and moved the receiver away from his ear.

"Don't hang up..." the voice on the other line called, "it's me..."

"HaNeul?!" KangTa brought the receiver back closer to his ear, "is something wrong?"

"I was just wondering..... umm..... if... if something happened to me..."

"What happened? Did WooHyuk do something to you?" he demanded.

When she heard the name 'WooHyuk,' tears escaped her eyes like a river.

"No.. it's not that. Nothing happened. I was just wondering, if something DID happen...
you would... still like me the same, right? Please tell me you would... still love me.... just
like you do now..."

"Oh no..." KangTa collapsed onto his bed in a disbelief, "he did do something to you,
didn't he..?"

If KangTa's guards didn't stop him in the middle of the night, he would've rushed over to
HaNeul right away after she abruptly hung up the phone.

His grandparents were to come home the next day from their vacation. He would surely
tell them of his plan, then.

[Next Day]

WooHyuk smiled in satisfaction when he noticed that HaNeul was absent. He meant to
ask JaeWon about it but figured that he wouldn't know any better.

During recess, he was walking down the hallway with JaeWon and HeeJun when he
received a tap on his shoulder from behind. He turned around and saw KangTa and Tony
standing there. The next thing he received was a blow in his face.

"What the hell did you do to her last night?" KangTa asked angrily as he clenched his fists
tightly.

WooHyuk didn't seem startled at all by this fighting initiation. He wiped off the small
amount of blood from the corner of his lips and sneered.

"Nothing at all. Just taught her some eyeopening experience, that's all," he answered.
"Don't blame me for it. She's the one who didn't resist. She just laid there and let me
touch her all over. Not my fault."

"Shame on you, WooHyuk," said Tony as he crossed his arms and leaned against the
lockers, "you knew she didn't have the strength that could emulate yours. You just went
ahead and exploited her like that..."

"I stood you as much as I could now. It's over between us, Jang WooHyuk. We are no
longer friends," declared KangTa. He then turned around and walked away from the
group. Tony just eyed WooHyuk and followed his cousin soon after.

JaeWon wandered in his confusion and leaned over to WooHyuk.

"Did you really....? I thought the maid told me that she was staying home because she had
a cold."

WooHyuk smirked.

"I didn't do anything. I sent her home afterwards because I knew I would lose if I were to
take over her then."

"Then why did you tell KangTa that you did?" HeeJun asked.

"So I can have her instead. Watch, she'll come to me in the end," WooHyuk smiled
deviously and started walking forward.

JaeWon and HeeJun just looked at each other and shrugged.

---------------------------------

When KangTa arrived home, his grandparents were sitting in the livingroom talking to his
parents and Tony's.

Strangely, there was a girl sitting on the sofa across from them, with a woman and a man
who seemed to be her parents.

Tony and KangTa exchanged glances as they approached the adults. They bowed politely
and sat next to their parents.

Grandfather An was one of the most powerful former businessmen in the country. He
turned his business over to his oldest son, who was Tony's dad, but incessantly continued
to direct how the companies should work.

He was a heartless man who would not permit anything that would taint the honor of his
family. Though retired, his dream to expand the business of An Corps. never ceased to
live.

"Aren't you going to ask about this young woman over here, ChilHyun?" he asked in a
solemn voice.

KangTa glanced at the girl staring at him. She couldn't be any older than him, so she was
probably the same age as the rest.

"I have a ..." KangTa began, ignoring the girl, only to be interrupted by his grandfather.

"Before you begin, I must introduce you to your bride after graduation. Meet Miss
YangHyunJi."

"What's this?" WooHyuk stared blankly at the envelope his father threw in front of him.

"List and profiles of who would be suitable for my future daughter-in-law," Mr. Jang said
dully.

"And... you expect me to pick one out of these? What if I don't like any?" WooHyuk
asked daringly.

Mr. Jang smiled at his son's little boldness.

"I suppose I'll choose one for you if that's the case. Be thankful that at least I'm giving
you a choice now."

WooHyuk sighed and opened the envelope. He started searching through the pictures.

"They're all ugly," he commented bluntly.

"I used to think so too when it was my time back in the days, but hey, I met your mother
that way. There might be a catch," Mr. Jang joked lightheartedly.

WooHyuk smiled at his father's silliness. He was somewhat grateful that his dad wasn't a
scary old geezer like Tony's or KangTa's parents.

His eyes stopped at one of the pictures. He narrowed his eyes and examined it carefully.

"What's she doing in this pile?" he held up the picture.

Mr. Jang probed it and replied.

"She is a fine young woman, just like how her mother used to be. You should know."

WooHyuk looked at the picture carefully and let his victorious smile spread across his
face.

"I'll choose this person."
