I was sitting at the window’s line. My body leaned against it. I was enjoying the cold breeze from the beach. This place never changed at all. Even centuries have passed, it was still beautiful. I remember clearly the first time I arrived at this place.
= Flashback =
“Umma, where’re we going?” I asked my umma, I was still a 5 years old. I even still a human back then. Yeah, I was not born as a Vampire. I used to be a human. I used to be those weak creatures. Weak, yet cruel. They could be crueler than a Vampire. I hate human. I hate them.
“We’re going home.” Umma answered me. I know she was lying, we did not go home. I kept followed her anyways. What else could a 5 years old human kid do? We kept walking and walking until we reached the beach. I was mesmerized by its beauty. It looked so calm, steady, and safe. Umma hold my hand then dragged me to a house near the beach. It was quite big. Umma knocked the door, and not long after, someone opened it. Revealing middle-age woman. Umma kept talking to her, I didn’t understand what they were talking about.
After a while, they stopped. Umma released my hand then push me to that woman side. She then started to walk away. I wanted to follow her but that woman stopped me.
“Umma! Umma!” I yelled. But Umma did not hear me, or she did not want to hear me. She kept walking, no she kept running and running until I couldn’t catch her glimpse anymore. I was crying now, I sobbed so hard. My eyes hurt, but my heart hurt more.
“Let’s go!” That woman dragged me in to her house. Her grip was different from Umma’s. It was hard, it was hurting me. I was so scared. I never be here before, I did not know anyone here. I was alone. I wanted to go home. I kept crying and crying.
“Stop crying! My ears hurt!” she snapped me. I was startled, so I kept crying.
“Yah! What noise is that!” I heard another yell. Then a fat middle-age man walked out. He was so scary. He smelled like puke. He was holding a bottle of liquid and kept waving it. And suddenly, it fell and shattered into pieces.
“Yah! Look what you did! You *hiccup* break my bottle. You stupid kid!” he kept yelling and yelling. I did not now what did he say. All I knew was he approached me then dragged me to his side and started to beat me. Starting from that day, my life was full of violence.
I was 18 now. But nothing changed in my life. That couple forced me to work everyday, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I would be so thankful if they just asked me to work, but no, they kept abused me. Even when I did not do any mistake. They just beat me for their pleasure. I couldn’t do anything. I did not know anyone. I’m still alone.
And that night, something happened. Something that would change my life forever. That night I was so exhausted because of the works. I fell asleep at back yard. But then, I felt a sudden warm, not long after, I felt it getting warmer, and warmer. I opened my eyes and I saw a horrible sight in front of me.
The house was burning, it was covered with flame. And I could hear the couple shouting for help. I didn’t know what I must do. They kept shouting. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I ran in to the burning house. I tried my best to help them. It was so hot there and smoky. I saw the woman lied in the floor, while her husband was nowhere to be seen. I grabbed her and put her on my shoulder. I carried her out, not care with the fire that burned my own body and the smoke that filled my lungs.
I could take her out from that house. I lied her down at the beach. I felt so exhausted, my breath felt so heavy. Every breath I took felt like knife’s stab at my lung. My vision got blur. Now, I was lying down my self. And then I see a blur image in front of me. It was approaching me. And then, I felt something sharp stuck in to my throat. I felt an unbearable pain at my neck. I could felt my blood was being sucked out. And then I felt something strange filled my throat. My body felt numb. After that, I passed out.
I could feel the consciousness hit me. I slowly opened my eyes. I was expecting another pain, but I was wrong. I felt nothing. In fact, I felt strong, I felt healthy and fresh. Then I heard footsteps. The door flung open, revealing a handsome, well made it gorgeous looking man stepped in. He looked like at his early of 20. He approached me and smirked. Although it was smirk, but I could sense a friendly feel in it.
“Hi. I’m Yunho. Who are you?” he asked me.
“J-Jaejoong.” I said. Then, he smirked again.
“Jaejoong. Don’t worry, I won’t harm you. You’re safe here.” He said. I did not know why but I felt that I could trusted this man.
“What happen to me?” I couldn’t help but asked him.
“I safe you last night, remember the fire?” he told me. Oh yeah, the fire. I remember I was dying last night. But now, I was as healthy as usual. How?
“No need to confused. You’re different now. You are not those weak creature anymore.” He said. What? I didn’t get it.
“You are a Vampire now.” He said again and smirked.
= End of Flashback =
It was a long-long time ago. It was the beginning of my new life.
