Let's end this.
Ximen knew what those three short words did. He knew it all too well. It elicited so much pain for the receiving end. But he hadn't anticipated the pain it brought to him this time.
Ximen emotionlessly stared back into a pair of brown eyes, flooded with tears that were impending to fall.
"Why?" Her voice cracked as she spoke.
"Because it's what I do, simple as that. This is how I am. Or have you forgotten?" His tone was staid. Like it was a perfectly normal thing to break someone's heart.
She wanted to say something. She tried. But the lump in her throat rendered her mute.
"You said you could handle my lifestyle. You should've seen this coming, then." He added, taking advantage of the silence.
"But..."
"Stop deluding yourself into thinking that you can change me because that's not going to happen." He coldly cut her argument short with a flicker of anger in his eyes.
He sounded uncharacteristically indifferent... almost heartless.
"You can't tell me that you never, not even once, felt anything for me at all."
"Is that what you think?" Ximen mocked.
"I'm programmed to make women believe what they want to believe. It's my way of getting them under my spell. Because if I make them realize the truth, it would only hurt them. Just look at you."
She bowed her head slightly as tears rolled down her cheeks. She didn't want him to see her cry. She quickly wiped the salty trail dry with her hands and looked up at him again.
"I can't give up."
Ximen shook his head. She really could be so stubborn sometimes. But wasn't that why he liked her in the first place? But still, he couldn't let her stay.
"You're only hurting yourself more with what you're doing." He said, his voice suddenly growing softer.
"Ximen... I..." She looked at him, her eyes pleading for him to reconsider... to tell her that he loved her... to let her stay.
Ximen turned his back before she said another word. Seeing her look at him like that, he wasn't sure if he could stop himself from giving in to what his heart was screaming out. He couldn't keep her. He just couldn't.
"Go back to Canada, Xiao You. You don't belong with me"

Ximen's eyes abruptly opened. The first thing he felt was that there was something or someone beside him. When he looked to the other side of the bed he saw a woman lying there with nothing but the blanket covering her naked body. Then he remembered where he was... at a hotel with a woman he met at the bar the night before.
His gaze moved towards the ceiling as he heaved a sigh.
That dream.
He had the same dream the other night.
It happened six years ago when Xiao You came back to Taiwan for Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai's wedding. He remembered seeing her so womanly and all grown up. She had changed so much. Except for one thing: She had still wanted to be with Ximen.
And so he agreed. He gave her his week just to have it over and done with. So they can both just move on with their lives after. But things didn't completely happen his way. He got a little too attached. He almost fell in love. Or perhaps he really did fall in love, but that didn't stop him from doing what he always did. He sent her away.
But that was six long years ago. He'd gotten by without her and he's pretty sure that she had her own life as well. So why was it haunting him now?
He glanced over to the clock on the bedside table. It was eight A.M. He quickly got out of bed and started to get dressed.
"Leaving so soon?" A female voice spoke.
"It's eight. I have work." He said without even bothering to look at the woman as he put his shoes on.
"Skip work, then. Didn't you have fun with me last night?" She purred, sitting on the bed and holding the blanket up with her hand.
"Of course, I did." He answered simply and looked at her with an indulgent grin.
"So stay."
"I can't." Was Ximen's simple response. To him a one-night stand was exactly just that - a carnal affair that lasted for only one night and nothing more.
The woman let out a sigh. "Fine." She bleakly conceded.
"I have to go. Bye, hun." Ximen casually said, giving her a goodbye kiss on the lips, and flashed her one last smile before heading towards the door.
"Ximen."
He stopped at the call of his name and turned around to face her.
"I'll see you again, won't I?" She asked in a deep, seductive voice.
Ximen paused.
Will she see him again?
He was Ximen, the great playboy of F4. He may have stopped being that way for a while. But it was only because of a woman who became a part of his life for a while.... before he sent her away.
But that's all in the past. He had no reason to be anyone other than the playboy that he was.
He was, indeed, Ximen, the great playboy of F4.
He was and always will be.
"Of course." Ximen replied and left the room.
