Xiao You got back from work a little later than usual. She had been busy the entire day with the preparations for the upcoming Glitz fashion show. That was the real reason why she was back in Taipei after six long years. The company wanted to introduce their product to this side of Asia, beginning with Taiwan, and eventually establish a market there.
When Xiao You was informed about this, she was ecstatic but at the same time a little apprehensive. She was pretty sure that Shan Cai would be jumping down her throat the instant she finds out that her best friend had been keeping this from her all this time. The thought made her quite nervous. Actually, it still does.
Xiao You was pretty much hands-on in every single detail of all the planning and arrangements. They usually got very pleasant receptions in the other countries where they previously held such events like Italy, Paris, and England. But she wanted to make this particular one very special. It would be her first in Taiwan, her hometown. She wanted it to be perfect.
Fatigue could be noticed in Xiao You's every step as she walked through the wooden double doors of the Ximen mansion. Her body felt heavy and her throat was going dry. She went straight to the kitchen to get herself a drink.
"Miss Xiao You, can we get you anything?" One of the maids asked her.
"No, thanks. I just need some water." Xiao You responded.
"We can get some for you if you wish, Miss Xiao You." The other maid offered.
"No, I can manage. But thanks anyway." Xiao You said with a polite smile.
She may now be living with someone who is constantly waited on by his servants so much that he might as well be handicapped, but that didn't mean that she'd let herself be so reliant too that she couldn't accomplish such a simple task on her own.
The helpers went on with tidying up the kitchen as Xiao You poured herself a glass of ice-cold beverage.
Halfway through her drink, her ear caught a high-pitched, female giggle coming from somewhere in the living room. As far as she knew, there were no other women in the mansion. The female servants wouldn't dare make that much noise either.
Xiao You paused to listen some more. Maybe she was just hearing things.
Then it came again.
It was one of those flirtatious, kittenish chuckles that were characteristic of vain and arrogant, filthy rich supermodels.
"Is there someone else here?" Xiao You asked the helpers.
"Umm... yes, there is." One of them skeptically replied.
"Oh." Xiao You began to step towards the kitchen entrance to take a peak.
"Master Ximen brought home a guest a couple of hours ago." The other female servant spoke. But Xiao You wasn't listening. Her eyes were already glued on the attractive couple standing at the bottom of the stairs.
Ximen had his arm wrapped around the tall and beautiful woman's tiny waist. He whispered something in her ear which elicited another laugh from her. Xiao You felt her fingers tighten their grip on the glass she was holding.
The woman allowed herself to be enveloped in Ximen's embrace. Her arms snaked from Ximen's chest and up around his neck. She slowly pulled Ximen's face lower until his lips touched hers.
Xiao You's glare practically flared up. She turned around and violently set the glass down by the sink before she completely smashes it in her hand. Her action startled the two maids who only wordlessly exchanged baffled glances. Xiao You remained standing there, giving her anger some time to subside.
Why does this upset her so much anyway? It's not like she wasn't aware of Ximen's womanizing ways. The sight of him with different women wasn't supposed to surprise her, much less, enrage her. So why was she sulking now?
*Because he's an inconsiderate pig who has absolutely no knowledge of civility and proper decorum, that's why!* Xiao You yelled mentally.
She wasn't jealous.
Hell NO.
She just hated being treated this way. She was a guest, for crying out loud! What kind of respectable host would put his obscenity on show when he has a guest?!
She wasn't jealous. Really.
Then she heard Ximen's laughter mixing with the woman's own.
They were laughing together.
Xiao You suddenly felt like hitting something really hard.

From where Ximen stood, locked in a passionate kiss with his new girlfriend for the week, he heard a loud and forceful clinking sound. Like a glass knocking against the concrete, marbled kitchen counter.
He couldn't help the small smile that formed on his lips. To the woman in his arms, it may seem like he was smiling as a reaction to her kiss. But in reality, that smile was because of the reaction he knew he got from another woman.
Ximen had wanted to do something to irk Xiao You as vengeance for what she did to him. That was the reason why he brought another woman with him to the mansion. He wasn't really sure if it would have any effect on Xiao You now. But apparently, his efforts weren't in vain after all.
Ximen broke the kiss and looked at the woman with a pleased smile.
"I'll take you home now."
*Mission accomplished.*
