Chapter 2

Chapter 2

#Dream sequence#

Bomi felt herself drifting. She looked behind her and could see nothing but darkness. Suddenly she was hauled by a grizzly being. She tried to scream, calling out for someone very dear, but her voice escaped her She struggled, yearning to be released from its tight grip…

“Bomi…”

She was panicking.

“Bomi…”

“AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!”

Cool steady arms wrapped themselves around her, and a soft whisper was blown to her ear, “Shh… open your eyes, princess; relieve yourself of that foolish nightmare. Wake up, love.”

#End of dream#

She opened her eyes to see she was still in her own room. In her own bed. In the arms of… who? She turned her head slightly to see the most breathtaking face she has ever seen. What a magnificent creature of the night. Yep, creature, for no human could possess such qualities. Even the moonlight is bestowing its light to this glorious creature. The luxurious hair, pale handsome face, those blood-red lips, and those striking eyes… that look questioningly at her.

“Something troubles you, my lady?” he softly asked.

I was having a nightmare? Bomi thought. How could I when I’m in the arms of this being? Silly Bomi, thumping her head in her mind. I can’t even remember what I was dreaming about; except for the lingering feeling of fear that is easily subsiding. But wait… “Who… who are you? I can feel you’re not human.”

Tsk, tsk, tsk. “Were you so frightened of your nightmare that you have forgotten about me, princess?”

“Have we met before?” came her shy reply. Lowering her voice for him not to hear, I’m sure I would have remembered you.”

He smiled. He heard but he need not further her embarrassment. Hugged her tight and bestowed a light kiss on her forehead.

In the next blink of her eyes, he was already out of bed and gently tucking her under the covers.

“Sweet dreams, princess. I will come see you again.” And softly blows blood dust over her that puts her in peaceful slumber.

“Honey, time to get up for school.” Bomi opened her eyes to the soft shaking of her mother. She could still feel the impression of her dream. Was it really just that? A dream? She knew it was just a dream, but how come it all felt so real.

“Bomi, Ri In’s already here. You might want to start preparing for school.” Her mother’s voice penetrated her still dream-frozen consciousness. Silently, Bomi got up from her bed and walked towards her bathroom.
Once inside, she gazed at her reflection and noticed that her birthmarks became more visible than before. Maybe she needed to apply some concealing spray on it before going to school.

When Bomi came downstairs she saw that her bestfriend, Ri In, is almost finished with her breakfast. Ri In passed her two pieces of buttered toast and a glass of milk. Bomi admired her friend’s unvoiced beauty. Ever since they were children Ri In was always timid and quiet. She had this delicate innocence around her, probably that was the explanation why Bomi felt protective of her.

“Are you ready for your annual welcoming ceremony presentation?” Ri In suddenly asked, interrupting Bomi’s train of thought.

Bomi wiped some bread crumbs off the kitchen counter. Bomi’s parents are both school directors of Seoul’s most prestigious Royal Center for Arts and Literature. However her father presides over the foreign branches, so he’s rarely seen at home. And as their only daughter, she was expected to take over the position of the academy’s student body president. As president, she had to perform at least one of the school’s traditional dances as a gesture of gratitude to new scholars.

“Yup, I’m going to do the Dance of the Mystical Princess.”

The chamber felt eerie, although lights from intricately designed bronze oil lamps filled up the space, it was still dark and gloomy. Black curtains and antique furniture adorned the room.

Suddenly…

“Junsu, who left these garments on my bed?” Jaejoong asked in his cold, velvety voice. He picked up one of the plain-looking clothes that were laid out on his king-sized bed. He was garbed in dark burgundy silk robe, his long, soft chestnut hair, which was tied pulled-back style, was secured by a thin gold chain. He was feeling a bit… apprehensive.

“They are called uniforms, my lord. We’re going to attend her ladyship’s school, remember?’ Junsu, with his relaxed demeanor, answered. Jaejoong turned around and saw that his loyal companion was fixing his collar. He was also wearing the same type of clothing that was on his bed.

“You mean to say I would be dressed like everyone else in that institute?” vampire-elites took particular care of their attire; it was not only because it was expected of them, but also because it symbolizes their power and wealth over the clan.

“Don’t worry Jaejoong, I’ve managed to persuade the school officials to allow you to keep your hair long. So… you would still stand out from the rest.”

“Would you mind repeating that?”

Long silence…

“THEY EVEN HAD THE GALL TO ASK OF ME TO CUT MY HAIR?!!” Vampire princes never wear their hair short. Mainly because it signifies youth, but the real reason behind it is it enables them to change into different forms, any time they want, one of the special gifts of being royalty.

Junsu approached Jaejoong, “Calm yourself, Your Highness. They would no longer do that okay? You better get dressed, it’s almost 7.” And with that he called the krycan house servants to help Jaejoong with his morning rituals.
