Minho leaned into your ear and whispered, “How did I do? Good?”
You gave him a smile, “Perfect.”
“Ha. I knew it. I’m the best, right?” Minho grinned. “The very best.” You agreed. “Keep it up.”
“You know it, babe. To make it look real, I think we should kiss.” Minho winked at you.
“Don’t push it until it’s necessary, buddy.” You gave him a playful poke on his chest.
Minho pouted, “I thought we were friends with benefits.” “Best friends.” You corrected.
“Still. One kiss, please?” Minho gave you his puppy eyes. “No.” you looked away.
“God, babe. Don’t play hard to get. Rawr.” Minho pretended to bite your neck. You laughed and you gently pushed him away.
Jaejoong was watching you laugh and tease with Minho and his heart burned up with jealousy and regret. You were acting so lovey-dovey with some guy that wasn’t him. On top of all that, you were acting as if he hadn’t ever existed in your life. Like he was just another classmate.
“He’s watching you.” Minho whispered in your ear.
You smoothly straightened up, “Still?"
“Yep. Come closer to me.” Minho hissed.
You stepped closer to him and he wrapped his arm fully around your waist. Minho looked down at you and gave you his infamous charming smile, “Kiss now?”
You casually fixed his tux jacket, “No.”
“Damn.” Minho cursed.
You couldn’t help but smile.
Jaejoong swallowed hard as he saw you smile at Minho with the same smile that you had given him many times.
Some teachers came by and you started to converse with them. Boa tugged on Jaejoong’s arm, “Come on. I see Mr. Park and Principal Lee.” He reluctantly followed her.
You laughed at a joke that your old chemistry teacher made. Jaejoong looked at you. Your laugh sounded like a heavenly tinkle.
You slightly turned your head and glanced at him. The both of your eyes connected and you swiftly turned your head to smile at your language teacher’s story. Jaejoong clenched his fist in determination *I have to talk to her.*
“Excuse me.” You politely nodded and headed to the restroom.
Jaejoong opened his mouth to say something but you passed by without even a glance. He pressed his lips together in frustration then turned to Boa and the teachers “Excuse me for a moment.” Jaejoong went after you.
You were in the restroom washing your hands. You patted your hands dry, checked your makeup in the mirror, fluffed the end of your curls, and left. Jaejoong was waiting near the bathroom. He was leaning against the wall and staring at the wall.
Jaejoong looked up at you.
You pointed your head up high and walked past him.
“Wait, ~~~~~~~~-ah.” He called.
You paused and turned around. You gave him a blank, inquiring expression.
Jaejoong stepped up to you, “I-“
Out of nowhere, Minho appeared “There you are. I was looking everywhere for you.” He put his hand on your waist, “What took you so long? Were you…held up?” Minho looked at Jaejoong.
You also glanced at him, “No. I don’t really know him.” Jaejoong’s jaw was practically on the floor and he was staring at you with a wide are-you-serious look. *Not know me? We were in love!*
“Oh.” Minho smirked. “Well then, let’s go.” He held out his arm. You inserted your arm and placed your hand on it. Then the two of you walked away, leaving Jaejoong feeling confused and hurt.
Once you were out of sight, you hissed, “Why did you come out?”
“Now is not the time to talk to him, my dear. Just be patient.” Minho smiled.
The both of you entered the reunion party where couples were waltzing on the floor. Minho led you to the center and smoothly pulled you in front of him. He took your left hand and placed his right hand on your waist. The both of you began to gracefully waltz around the floor.
Jaejoong came into the room and stopped when he saw you and Minho dancing.
You were lightly laughing at a joke Minho had made.
Jaejoong felt like his heart was cracking into tiny pieces *My ~~~~~~~~~. I feel like I don’t even know you anymore…*
