That night at 10, you started making kim bap for your stepbrothers. You started late since you hadn’t finished all your studies till then. You efficiently rolled the spam, eggs, carrots, and spinach into the rice. You fell asleep after the 45th roll.
Yunho walked into the kitchen. He stopped when he saw you asleep on the table.
You still had the plastic gloves on and all the utensils and food were sprawled in the kitchen.
Yunho glanced at the clock. It was 1:30.
Yunho’s expression softened *She stayed up this late making lunch for us? She had homework, extracurricular activities, school, and chores. Isn’t she exhausted?* He sighed and silently walked up to you. Yunho gently slipped the oily gloves off your hands. Then he put his arms under your back and legs and lifted you up. Yunho carried you towards you bedroom.
He froze halfway when he ran into Jaejoong. His eyes narrowed and he looked at you. Then Jaejoong looked back up at Yunho. He was waiting for an explanation.
Yunho cleared his throat and said in a gruff voice, “She fell asleep while making food. And I-I brought her up here because she-she might have drooled over the lunches.” Jaejoong tilted his head up and looked at Yunho with interest, “Why? Why didn’t you just wake her up and yell her to go sleep. Or you could’ve just pushed her off the table. Why be courteous and carry her all the way up here?” Yunho looked away. He had no excuse. “I just did.” Yunho muttered. He took a step forward when his cell rang in his room.
Jaejoong and Yunho looked at the room.
“Your cell is ringing. Aren’t you going to answer it?” Jaejoong nodded towards the room.
Yunho furrowed his eyebrows, “After I put her to bed.” He took another step forwards but Jaejoong blocked him.
Yunho’s cell continued to shrill loudly.
“It sounds urgent. Why don’t you answer it right now? I’ll take care of her.” Jaejoong coolly replied. He didn’t trust Yunho with you.
Yunho clenched his teeth in anger. “Fine.” He dumped you in Jaejoong’s arms and stormed into his room.
Jaejoong smirked in satisfaction.
“Hello?” Yunho barked.
“Yunho oppa.” Mindy said in her whiny voice. He clenched his fist *I had to give her up because of you?! Damn it!* “Mindy, fuck off.” Yunho hissed. He hung up and irritably threw his cell onto his bed *This sucks.*
Jaejoong opened the door with one hand and went into your room. He closed the door with his foot then carried you to the bed. Jaejoong gently lay you down and pulled the covers over you. He quietly sighed and sat on the edge of your bed. Jaejoong let his gaze fall over you. You looked serene like an angel even when you were sleeping. Jaejoong went closer to you and brushed the hair away from your face. He curiously peered at you *Why am I so interested in you? You fascinate me. I have all these emotions when you’re near me. Like I need to protect you. Take care of you. Make sure no other guys go near you. I’ve never felt like this with anyone else before…*
Jaejoong had a flashback of you in Yunho’s arms. He looked back at you. *I know I don’t trust Yunho with you alone… but…* Jaejoong leaned in closer to your face and whispered, “I don’t trust myself alone with you either…”
Jaejoong shifted his eyes to your lips. He leaned in but paused when he was just a centimeter away from your lips. Then Jaejoong softly pecked the corner of your lips. He felt electricity shiver through his spine and goosebumps zip up his arms, which he had never experienced before with another girl. *And I didn’t even fully kiss you yet… imagine what would happen if I did.* Jaejoong softly smiled and straightened up.
He stood up, turned the lights off, and left.
