Chapter 15

.second to the last day.

Ken watched as Dana had the crew moving around like clockwork. They had already finished half of the shoot for the day and were rearranging the set for the next half. They were inside a studio this time, instead of out in the street, since this was the part where they would shoot the parts of the song that slowed down, and they couldn’t very well shoot that on a busy street. It was also time to shoot the long, solo parts of each of them in the song, and he also wondered how he would be able to concentrate singing alone, when Dana would be behind the camera that would be doing close-ups every so often. Luckily, though, Dana had been very professional the whole time, acting as though nothing had happened between them last night. Well, nothing DID happen, but what he really meant was that at least there wasn’t any awkward tension between the two of them now, like there had been the night before. Then again, maybe it was because she’d already forgotten about the whole thing and he was the only person who thought that it mattered even a little.

He felt someone slap his back lightly. “Hey,” Vic greeted. “Did you go with Jerry and Vanness to the bar last night?”

Ken shook his head. “No.”

“Good,” Vic said. “I was beginning to think there was no way to get away from all their talk on those models,” he said.

Ken laughed. “Aren’t you disappointed that you didn’t get to go?”

“No. Why would I be?” he asked. “Going would’ve meant losing sleep, and THAT'S something I’d really be disappointed about.”

Ken laughed again. Good ol’ ZaiZai, always cheering people up. He’d probably understand if he told her about his 'feelings' for Dana. But he shook his head, quickly deciding against it. The more he didn’t talk about it, the more it’d go away. This was their 2nd to the last day in LA after all, and after their last shoot the next day, he’d never have to see Dana again. Whether that was good news or bad news, though, he still had yet to decide.

“Alright, break’s over!” Dana announced, clapping her hands, and looking around. “Jerry,” she said, pausing at his direction. “Let’s do your solo first.”

Jerry nodded and walked towards the middle of the studio where the lights were strategically placed to give an atmosphere of sadness around the place. He sat on the chair at the middle and turned to look at the camera. “Is this okay?” he said, leaning his elbows on his lap. It sort of made him look like ‘The Thinker’, without his fist against his forehead.

“Perfect,” Dana said. “Except, that, you should really look at the camera,” she told him. “Girls hate it when you cover your face in your videos.”

Everyone in the studio laughed, including Dana, as she didn’t expect to get that kind of reaction. She smiled, again put in a good mood by everyone’s hard work. “Action.”
