.breathtaking.

It was Ken’s turn to do the solo thing as soon as Vanness finished his set. A crew member took the chair out of the set, and some people were changing the lighting.

“What’s the matter?” Ken asked Dana.

“Vanness was too pasty, we had to tone down the lights a bit,” she explained. “And we want a different effect for you since the key you’re singing is half a step higher,” she said and then pointed to the set. “You get to lean against the wall instead of sit on the chair,” she said. “Marlon said it’d look better that way, too,” she said, referring to the cinematographer.

“Okay,” Ken said, for the first time, trusting her taste completely. He’d already admitted that they all had second thoughts about their video looking amateur, but as time passed, Dana had proved more and more how great she really was. Now, Ken was sure that the whole crew, and F4 had full confidence that she’d do a great job. He walked towards the set where the camera was already pointing. “Is this okay?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Marlon called from behind one of the light stands.

“No, wait,” Dana suddenly said, and walked towards Marlon. She adjusted the light to be a little dimmer, and then she went to where one of the spotlights was placed, and moved it a little to the left. She turned towards Ken again, and suddenly had an idea. She walked towards where another spotlight was, right behind the camera. “Action,” she said and as soon as the song started playing, she started moving the spotlight she was holding counter-clockwise. The faint light was then slowly rounding Ken as he leaned on the wall and sang his lines. It somehow gave more feeling to the scene as there was more movement in the background.

Ken paused and then started another line as he looked at the camera. He saw Dana behind it pointing the faint spotlight at him, and suddenly felt a shiver up his spine. The concentrated and driven expression on her face was breathtaking.

And it was because Dana’s breath WAS taken away when she saw what wonders the light she steadied just above him did to his face, and then noticed him looking at her. She felt his gaze somehow reach inside her and suddenly made her knees feel weak. She took another deep breath, completely moved by the combination of Ken’s voice in her ear, and the way he was looking at her as he said the sweetest words she had ever heard.

Of course, he wasn’t really saying them to HER. They were just lyrics of a song that he was asked to sing. It was written by someone else, meant for someone else.

But as Ken sang it in the best way he could, while looking into Dana’s eyes, he couldn’t help but think that there wasn’t anyone else he wanted to say those words to.

“Cut,” Dana said. “Cut,” she repeated, louder this time, as she let go of the light and took another deep breath. She looked around. “It’s Vic’s turn,” she announced, walking towards the other cameras. Anything to keep her busy and to keep her from looking again at Ken’s direction.
