.bossing them around.

“Cut!” Dana yelled and the music they were playing stopped. So did the F4 singing. She sighed heavily. What did Asia find so fascinating about the F4 anyway? Okay, so they were all cute and had a certain charm, but in terms of talent, there was hardly anything to build on. Then again, all it really took nowadays to get famous was good looks. She frowned. The world was so unfair.

She emerged from behind the camera and walked to the 4 members of the boy band, shaking her head. “Jerry, great acting,” she told him, “but try not to sing so loud, okay? You only really need to lip synch anyway,” she then turned to Vic. “You, on the other hand, have an incredible voice,” she said. “But try to move more, okay? It’s a HAPPY song,” she informed him. “But not as happy as YOU make it seem,” she turned to Vanness. “You need to slow your moves down, or just, move less. It’s not a dancing video after all.”

“And what do I need to do, Ms. Summers?” Ken prompted with an expectant scowl. He still couldn’t believe that this short arrogant girl was getting paid to boss them around.

Dana just shot him a brief wordless look before turning back. “Okay, from the top!” she said loudly as she clapped her hands and walked back over behind the camera. “Action!”

“What do you think she’s telling them now?” Vic asked his friends as the 4 of them looked at their young director, who seemed to be lecturing the crew again, though she was too far for them to hear.

“Who cares,” Ken said, rolling his eyes. “I don’t like her.”

“Neither do I,” Jerry said. “I mean, I know I can get a little stubborn sometimes because I want everything to be perfect, but she’s a different story.”

“I know,” Vanness agreed. “I mean, what the hell difference does it make whether I turn left or right? The sun’s exactly above us, there’s no shadow anywhere blocking our faces. What the heck was she talking about?”

“Yeah, I didn’t get that either,” Vic said, looking again at the redhead who was now waving her arms around as if to demonstrate something to the crew.

“All I know is that the sooner we finish this video, the better,” Ken said, leaning back on the bench they were sitting on. “I really don’t think I can take anymore of her. And this is only our first day.”

“Here she comes,” Jerry warned as he saw Dana walking towards them.

“I’ve got good news and bad news,” Dana said as she got to where they were.

The F4 didn’t say anything.

“Right,” she continued. “Good news is we’re finishing early today,” she said. “We’ve only got one more take left, and then we can all go home, and just meet tomorrow for the scene at the Walk of Fame.”

She waited for a response, but still none came.

She went on. “The bad news is that we’re gonna have to go back here after we shoot the next scenes in the city, so we’ll be extending the shooting for another day.”

This time, all four of them groaned.

“Why not just shoot it here now?” Vic asked.

“Lemme guess, the lighting’s not right,” Vanness said sarcastically.

Dana gave him a suffering look. “We need a scene inside the observatory,” she said. “But since it’s closed now, and won’t be opened until the weekend, we’re going to have to wait.”

“Why can’t you just open it now?” Jerry asked.

“Because it’s getting late,” she reasoned. “We’re gonna lose the sun.”

“But the shot’s indoors. What’s the sun got to do with that?” Ken pointed out, puzzled.

Dana looked annoyed. She knew they had a right to know, but she hadn’t expected them to be so inquisitive. Now, she had to come up with some excuse for finishing early. “Look, it’s already decided, okay? The crew’s agreed, Dave’s agreed, I’ve agreed. It’s set.”

“But WE haven’t agreed to anything!” Ken complained.

“Then you’re just gonna have to,” she said and then walked away.

“Man, who does she think she is, bossing us around like this?” Jerry asked. “If only she was a guy I could beat up.”

“That’s probably exactly why she thinks she can do this to us,” Vic said. “Because she’s a girl.”

“Girl or not, she’s being unfair. We should tell Dave about this,” Ken said, looking around for their manager.

It was Vanness who saw him laughing with Dana. “Somehow I don’t think he’ll agree with us,” he said, pointing them out to his friends.

The F3 groaned. “This sucks,” Jerry said, knowing that he was speaking for the 4 of them.
