The cameras had been set up, and the F4’s make-up retouched. There really was just one thing left to do. “Action,” Dana said, and the song played as the F4 sang and made their way through the Walk, looking straight at the camera that was moving backwards in front of them.
Dana smiled as she watched how perfect they were making the scene look. It was hard to believe that just yesterday, she had been scolding the same 4 guys because they couldn’t follow simple instructions. Jeff was really right when he said that their attitude was probably just a reflection of hers. “Cut!” she said, and the music stopped. She looked around and saw the crew smiling with satisfaction. “I think that’s a print,” she said.
There were nods all around. They were all agreeing that F4 was doing a great job.
“There’s one more scene left for today,” Dana announced. “But let’s all take a break before that, okay?”
Everyone breathed sighs of relief. And Dana understood why. She hardly gave any break at all for the crew yesterday, even when it was obvious that they were tired. She just didn’t like stopping when she felt like filming, or when she knew that something was still wrong about what they had just filmed. Besides, she’d really just wanted to finish early yesterday so she could be in time for their gig. But they didn’t have a gig tonight, and everyone was doing great. She smiled, so glad to be in such a good mood, despite the fact that she really didn’t want to do this music video in the first place.
“Hey,” she heard Jerry greet as he scooted over to where she was.
“So Dana, didn’t we tell you last night that we were very easy to work with?” Vanness asked, standing beside Jerry.
“Come on, admit it,” Vic said, standing beside her. “We’re the best guys you’ve ever worked with.”
“I must admit, I was shocked to see you’ve improved,” she said, smiling.
“You mean shocked to realize you were wrong,” Ken said, suddenly appearing beside Vanness.
Dana’s smile disappeared. But she didn’t say anything.
Jerry changed the subject. “Do you have another gig later?”
She shook her head. “We usually just do gigs three nights a week, so we still have time to rest. All of us have other jobs.”
“Right,” Vanness said. “Your bassist Mark, told me that he worked part-time as a bartender at another place somewhere near the Valley. He didn’t tell me the name of the bar, though. Is it any good?”
Dana shrugged. “It’s okay,” she said.
“Then let’s go there later tonight,” Jerry offered. “What do you say?”
Vic looked reluctant. “I think I want to rest for tonight.”
Jerry looked at Vanness.
Vanness smiled. “Mark also said that it was near a modeling agency, so… I’m there.”
The two of them looked at Ken. “You?” Jerry asked.
Ken looked at them, and then at Dana. He didn’t want to go if she was coming. “No thanks,” he said, walking away.
“What’s his problem?” Vanness wondered.
They all shrugged, including Dana, even though she knew exactly what his problem was.
