Jerry and Liz were eventually called back inside the concert hall to continue with the rehearsal. Both were disappointed that they had to spend time with other people again, but were pleased when everyone praised them for their sudden change of mood. The rehearsals went smoothly when they got back and other than Vanness’ dancing to orchestra music, there was nothing else that the director pointed out as unnecessary in the events that followed.

“This is Liz Chang,” Liz said.

“And Jerry Yan,” Jerry followed. “saying,” he continued.

“Good night,” they said at the same time, and the orchestra played the ending song as the crowd applauded for a job well done.

“Great job,” Jerry said to Liz. The crowd was already beginning to disperse.

“You too,” she said, patting him on the back.

“Thanks,” he said, and then he smiled. “I had fun.”

Liz grinned. “So did I,” she said as she started for the steps that led down the stage.

Jerry followed her. “I guess we make a pretty good team.”

“They wouldn’t have put us together if they thought otherwise,” she pointed out.

“Right,” he agreed. “But now I think so, too.”

She nodded. “So do I.”

“Right,” he repeated, and then took a deep breath. “So will you be my date tomorrow night?”

Liz turned her head sharply to look at him and raised an eyebrow. “Are you serious?”

“Yes?” Jerry said hopefully, suddenly regretting his decision to ask her out. He hasn’t gone on a real date in years after all, since all his appearances in public with women were with his co-stars, and it was to promote either a drama or a movie. What if he screws their date up? “I know we’re not really required to have dates, and your manager has probably arranged for your limo and all, but I was thinking maybe—“

“I’d love to,” she cut him off.

“Really?” he said, smiling. “Are you sure?”

“You mean, are YOU sure?” she said, and then cupped her hand to her mouth as if to whisper, “’Coz you know, they might start gossiping about us.”

Jerry chuckled. “Let them,” he said, smiling at her. “I’ll pick you up at your house,” he said. “I’ll get Dave to ask your manager for directions.”

Liz nodded, smiling. “See you tomorrow.”

“See you tomorrow,” he said, and then leaned to give her a kiss on the cheek, before he rushed over to tell Vanness and Ken about his actual ‘hot date’ with Liz Chang.
