Chapter 18

.thoughts.

Liz took a deep breath as the orchestra started playing the ending song and she began to walk out from backstage. The last award had been presented and it was time to conclude the program. She knew that the last few minutes of the show wasn’t enough to save their bad performance even if they do really well, assuming they did. She didn’t fully understand why Jerry’s performance wasn’t good either when he was the one who chose to promote his drama and arrive with his co-star instead of her. HE got what he wanted, and she was supposed to be miserable. But then she remembered what Barbie had said earlier—that if Jerry hadn’t been working as hard as he was, then he probably wouldn’t be where he was then. She might not even have heard of him yet.

Still, she thought as she gave another fake smile at the audience when she finally reached the middle of the stage with Jerry. It didn’t change the fact that he didn’t show up for their date. Besides, if she didn’t know better, she’ll bet that he didn’t really have to work hard to get famous. He probably only had to show them those dimples and producers would already line up with contracts for him to sign. Whatever, she thought, looking at the teleprompter to clear the thought out of her head.
