The following day at Phoenix Inn proved to be one of their slower days. They spent most of the day standing around and waiting for the next customer to come in. At one point, Nick dropped by with Amy to see his restaurant. He was a bit shocked to see the empty tables "What's up with today?" he asked Sunny.
He shrugged at Nick "I don't know, it's been like this all morning."
"Well, there are good days and there are bad days right?" Nick said with much optimism.
Sunny agreed "It gives my employees a day to be lazy. But I think they look more bored than lazy." he pointed to the waiters and waitresses who were all sitting on the empty tables.
Nick looked around and spotted Allie, he smiled at Sunny and walked over to her "Mind if I join you?"
She seem to be distracted when it took her a few seconds to acknowledge Nick "Oh...I'm sorry. Of course, have a seat."
"How are you doing?" he asked casually.
She smiled "Not worry about men, that's for sure." he laughed and shook his head. Suddenly her face clouded over "Nick, I....I don't know if I should tell you."
He frowned "You don't trust me?"
She shook her head "No. It might sound strange, but I have this deep uneasy feeling about today. Like something's going to happen."
"Your afraid of another burglary?" he asked in wonder.
She shook her head "No. Not that it wasn't scary. I just have this feeling that something's wrong. But maybe I'm just being paranoid."
He nodded "Maybe it was something you ate?" he patted her on the head affectionately "I'll get you some tea."
Allie turned to him with wide eyes "You don't have to do that. I should be serving you." she insisted. When she was about to get up, he quickly pulled her down.
"Don't be silly, you're not feeling good. I'll get it for you." he smiled as he got up and walked towards the kitchen. He stopped at Sunny's post. "Hey, Sunny." his friend looked up "Allie is not feeling too good. Maybe you should let her go home."
He wrinkled his forehead "She didn't tell me."
"But she told me." Nick said. "Go talk to her." he pushed Sunny, when he didn't budge, Nick added "You have to talk to your employees you know."
Sunny knew it was true as he walked over to Allie "Nick says you're not feeling too good."
She looked up and smiled "Just one of those uneasy feelings, nothing to worry about." she assured.
He looked at her with genuine concern "Sometimes those feelings turn out to be true." Her eyes began to wander and he soon regret what he said knowing that she was beginning to worry "I'm sure it's nothing though. Nothing exciting happens here." he smiled, trying to ease her concern.
She nodded "I hope you're right."
The minute she said it, Joey Lai came rushing into the restaurant. He looked frantic as he rushed to Allie, spotting her and another guy talking. His eyes were cold but they quickly eased up when he was standing right over her "Allie!"
She looked up with her brows furrowed "Joey? What are you doing here?"
"It's...it's Josh. He got in a car crash." he blurted out.
Allie stood up "What? How? Where is he now? Is he okay?" she spilled out the questions.
Sunny stroked her shoulders to calm her down "Allie, I'm sure he'll be okay. What hospital is it? I'll take her there." he said to Joey.
Joey raised an eyebrow "My father would not let him stay at a hospital, so he had them move Josh home." Sunny eyed him suspicously, it didn't make any sense to him. But despite his suspicion Allie believed it. "You know how my father can be." he added.
Allie nodded "That's true, he would do that. I have to see him." she said to Sunny.
He nodded "I'll take you there."
Joey quickly stopped them "No, my father would not any stranger on our property, I'll take Allie."
Allie nodded "It's okay Sunny, I'll be fine." she looked at Joey "Let's go." they quickly left the place.
Josie came out from the restroom in time to see Allie and some guy rushing out. She saw Sunny's gaze at the two of them. "What happened?" she asked casually.
He sighed "Josh got in a car accident. That was his brother coming to tell Allie."
Josie frowned "You mean Joey Lai?" Sunny nodded wondering how she knew his name. "That damn jerk that insulted her and hit on her?" She snickered "Don't even know if he's telling the truth." she was just being sarcastic but Sunny took it seriously.
"What do you mean he hit on her?" Sunny asked as he gripped onto Josie's arm.
She shrugged her shoulders "I didn't promise Allie that I wouldn't tell. She told me the other day when she was eating dinner with Josh's family, Joey hit on her and he insulted her by calling her a whore. And that when his brother is finished with her then he would take her." she wrinkled her nose "He sounds like a sicko if you ask me."
Sunny seemed shocked and almost disgusted by his male species "You think he might be lying?"
Josie looked at Sunny with fear "Don't scare me!" she quickly reached for her phone and dialed Josh's cell number that he gave to her on one of the short occasions that they talked. It was for emergency use if she needed to find Allie and she would happen to be with him. The phone rang three times and he picked up "Josh?"
He laughed "You called my cell phone. Allie's not with me." he said. "Shouldn't she be at work?"
Josie's heart raced as she turned to Sunny "He's okay..." she didn't have time to say anything else when Sunny rushed out of the restaurant after Joey and Allie. He sped out in time to see Joey and Allie pulling out of the parking structer. Without thinking, he called for a cab and had him follow the white corvette.
In the restaurant, Josie was still on the line with Josh who was beginning to sound frantic himself "Josie, what is going on? You're scaring me, is it Allie?"
Josie's hand was shaking with fear for her friend "Josh, where are you now?"
"I"m in my office." he sounded frustrated since she was only telling him bits and pieces. "What the hell is going on?" he asked again.
"Your brother just came in looking for Allie. He said you were in a car accident, she was worried about you. He offered to take her to you." she said carefully.
"What? Why would he do that? Is this some kind of a joke?" he was trying to convince himself more.
"Sunny just ran after them, who knows where he would take her? Oh God, I hope he's not going to do what I think he's going to do." she wished out loud.
"Josie, do you know something I don't know?" Josh asked in a serious tone.
She stuttered "I...I promised....I guess I should tell you." she finally decided to tell him everything Allie told her. After she finished, she heard nothing on the other line "Hello? You still there?"
He seemed calm but his heart was racing "Yeah..."
"What are we going to do now?" Josie asked.
"Hope and pray that my brother is not planning to rape her." he said as cold sweat began to drip over his face.
"WHAT?!!!" she screamed into the phone. Nick immediately turned to her when he saw her looking very much frustrated "He would do that?" she asked Josh.
"He's done it before. But my dad found a good lawyer that talked the judge and jury to believe that the girl asked for it." Josh began to pull at his hair "Where could he have taken her?" he sighed loudly.
"I just hope Sunny could chase after them." Josie prayed.
"Sunny? Call his cell!" Josh cried.
Josie was so busy talking to Josh that she forgot Sunny had ran after them, maybe he did reach them in time. She quickly hung up the call with Josh and called Sunny. "Hello? Sunny, did you follow them in time?"
Sunny was more than distracted as he barked at the driver "That car!!" he returned to Josie "Yeah...I don't know where he's going. It looks like a rich residential area." he looked around and there were huge mansions after mansions.
"Maybe he's taking her to his home?" Josie offered.
"Wouldn't he be afraid that the parents would be home?" Sunny asked out loud.
"Maybe he knows they won't be home..." Josie was getting more scared by the minute. "Let me call Josh back."
****************
Joey drove steadily as he quickly pulled up to the mansion, he drove past the gates and they were closed behind him. Allie continued to have that uneasy feeling but she mistook it for Josh's safety. She prayed that he would be okay. When he parked the car, she practically jumped out and began pressing the doorbell expecting the butler to answer.
Instead Joey walked calmly to the door and unlocked it with his keys. "Calm down, Allie. He won't want to see you so frantic."
She nodded in agreement "Okay...I know." she took a step in and instantly noticed there was no one in sight. "Where..."
"They're probably all in the library, that's where daddy had Josh placed." he pointed to the door down the hall. She rushed to it and opened it only to find an empty room with a beautiful red wood desk and leather chair. On the wall where the door was laid a couch and the other side of the entrance was a mini bar.
Fear began to over come her as she ran for the door only to be blocked by Joey's tall stature. She backed away slowly "Josh wasn't in a car accident was he?" she asked with her voice trembling.
He shook his head and covered his mouth "Oops, my mistake." he turned and locked the door behind him.
