It did not take Allie long to decide on where to go for her two weeks vacation. It was a place she needed to go years ago. After her parents moved their home to Shanghai, they expected to have Allie with them, but when she stood her ground, they allowed her to stay in Hong Kong by herself. She knew it was time to see her parents.

Because of the short time that she decided to go, she did not call them to tell them she was coming. Instead she thought they would be pleasantly surprised to see her. She even had a copy of the key to the house that they made for her when they moved there. Allie asked Josie to take her to the airport and her friend could not hold her tongue when she asked her "Where are you going?"

Allie smiled "I don't want to say." she said, her face looked at Josie apologetically.

"Why not?" Josie whined as she drove to the airport "I mean, what if something happened to you? That's not good if we don't even know where to find you." she reasoned.

Allie laughed "Well, if something happened to me, I will be sure to put your name and number in my purse, so if they find my dead corspe in the middle of the road, they will call to notify you."

Josie frowned "You're not going to tell me?" Allie shook her head firmly "I'll just ask Sunny then."

"What makes you think he knows where I'm going?" Allie asked with a bit of surprise in her voice.

"Aww, come on. You've got to tell me!!" she nagged. Secretly she was scheming to tell Sunny and have him go look for her. That way Allie was sure to believe in fate.

Allie shook her head "No! I'm not telling anyone. And if he does believe in fate. He will understand why I can't tell him." she read Josie's mind. "Since when did you become matchmaker." Josie's jaw dropped in shock "Don't give me that look." Allie scolded "I know what you're sneaky little mind is thinking."

She pouted at Allie "Fine, be that way." she teased. When they reached the entrance to the airport, Allie popped out of the car and grabbed her luggage. Josie got out of the car long enough to give her friend a hug since they only allowed unloading where she was parked. "Good luck and have fun...wherever you're going." she said while laughing.

Allie nodded "I will." she waited for her friend to leave before entering the airport. Within half an hour she was seated on the flight to Shanghai. It took about 5 hours to reach there, she felt squeezed tight in the seat but she managed to make the best of it. When the time came, she was glad to leave the airplane. Growing up, she was always afraid to fly but her parents loved to travel. So until she was old enough to stay home alone, she had no choice but to follow them.

She took a cab out to the suburbs as the city life came alive at night. She looked at her watch and it was about 9pm Shanghai time. She guessed her parents would definitely be home. When she reached the fairly big house, she used the key to enter only to find it empty. She climbed the stairs to find them but they were no where to be found.

*************

Back in Hong Kong, Josie returned to work but she seemed a little more than distracted when she overfilled the tea container with more than three tea bags. Her eyes kept darting towards the door. Sunny instantly saw something strange in his friend when she tripped and spilled a dish. Never has he seen her so clumsy.

"Josie." he called as he waved her over. She walked to him with a questioning look "What is wrong with you?" he asked straightforwardly.

"Nothing!" she said with too much defense.

He tilted his head "YOu can't lie. You never could, tell me, what's wrong? Why do you keep looking at that door? You especting someone?"

Her faced blushed over "No..." she said slowly.

Suddenly a smile came across his face "Oh, don't let me guess it. You have a boyfriend? Who is he? Who's the unlucky guy that has to put up with you?" she glared at him evily "Hey, someone's got to warn the poor chump." he continued to tease her.

"That's why I don't tell you anything, because you always make fun of me!" she said with defense "I don't have a boyfriend, if that's what you are thinking. I'm just distracted today. I mean, I just lost my break partner." she snickered as she changed the arrow to him "HOw about you? You've been picking on me the minute Allie's gone. Wait til she finds out you're not as nice as you appear to be!"

Sunny laughed "First of all, I always pick on you. Secondly, I am nice." he returned to his books while Josie continued to stand there pouting at him. He looked up and ordered her "Get to work now. I'm not paying you to chit chat."

She flicked her upper lip at him but returned to work. She took some more orders while Rain brought out the dishes. Everyone had to work harder than usual to keep the flow going without Allie there. Josie took the next customer, who turned out to be Steve. He was dressed in a olive green suit, his usual get up. "One?" Josie asked as she took a menu for him.

He placed a hand on his hips "Why do you assume that it's just one? Can't I meet someone here?" he said in his own defense.

She raised an eyebrow "How many people then?" Josie was in no mood to argue.

"One." he said flatly as she snickered while leading him to an empty table.

"Uh uh uh, I want the window table." he said pointing to the empty table at the corner with a window view.

She sighed "Sir, that is for four people, you only have..." she waved her hands around him "One...If you count your tummy, it'll be two." she quipped.

He eyed her carefully "Where is Allie? I don't like anyone serving me but her."

Josie smiled "She's on vacation. So does that mean you won't eat her for two weeks? Cause she's gone for that long." she looked hopeful that he would leave.

He laughed "Nice try." he took his seat and ordered the food.

Josie gave him his dishes and she was extra careful with the chubby man. He was looking out the window half of the time. She snuck her way over to Sunny after taking an order "Hey, what's wrong with that guy? He comes her to look out the window? He didn't even touch his food." she pointed out.

Sunny looked over at Steve's direction "Don't be nosy, maybe he just want some peace and quiet?" he scolded her "Why don't you worry about table 7, they're practically waving you down." he nodded to the couple that was waving for the check.

***********

After three days without Allie, Sunny felt a bit down. He was constantly thinking about her. Yet he knew there was no way to contact her. It wasn't until the fourth day that he decided to go on vacation. Nick was more than happy to hear it "Good for you, you need it!" he exclaimed after Sunny broke the news.

Josie frowned in disagreement "Who's gonna watch this place?"

Sunny smiled "Amy will. Nick has already agreed to let her be manager for the time being."

"But she doesn't even work here!" Josie whined.

"She does our accounting and she works for your other boss." Sunny pointed out. "Oh don't be a whiny butt, she's a great girl. You'll get along fine. And DON'T be mean to her." He warned.

Josie stuck her tongue out. "Fine. Where are you going?" she changed the subject.

"None of your beeswax." Sunny laughed.

Nick smiled "Actually, I'm a little curious to know too."

Josie brightened up "Yeah!! Come on, it won't hurt you to tell us!"

Sunny shrugged "I see no harm in you knowing. When I was small, I had a wish to visit the great wall of China in Beijing. I said I would accomplish walking through it one day."

Josie's face fell "That's all? Sheesh! I thought you were going to go somewhere interesting."

Nick laughed "That's a great idea...I always wanted to go but I think my only chances to get there is if a movie is shot there. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun." he was genuninely happy for his friend.

"I need this vacation very much." Sunny said, a double meaning hidden behind the comment only the two people before him could understand.

Sunny arrived in Beijing late that night, he checked into his hotel and slept early to rest for his next day outing to the Wall of China.

***************

Allie was relaxed for the first few days but soon she found herself missing someone very much. He haunted her dreams that very night and she knew it was time to find a new hobby to forget about him. She signed up for a tour to the Great Wall of China, somewhere her parents always wanted to go with her.

When the tour finally came around, she was happy to get up bright and early to walk the miles. She carried a tiny bag with water and snacks to keep her from being dehydrated or hungry. The tour guide was an overly excited young male who could have been a coach on a football team. He yelled at anyone who looked tired and didn't let anyone stop to rest until he was ready to rest. He barked out orders like a boss and pushed everyone like a team leader.

Allie wasn't bothered by it since she was taken in by the beautiful scene before her. The hills were green and the wall stood miles before her. It was about one hour into the walk when she stopped. Her eyes glued to the other pair of eyes she had hoped to see that very day. He stood there staring at her from a distance, people walking back and forth between them. Time seem to stand still and it was like slow motion when he walked over to her.

She looked down on the ground, tearing her eyes away from Sunny's. "When are you going to stop running away?" he asked calmly.

Allie looked up slowly "I already did." she smiled and he too smiled showing the adorable dimples that etched into her heart many months ago.

He could not hold it in as he reached over and hugged her roughly. She did not fight back at all as she let him hug her as if they haven't seen each other for months. They ended up walking together up the wall hand in hand. Smiling blissfully while others stared in envy. "Now do you believe me?"

She knew what he was getting at as she nodded "Yes. I believe you." she let out a sigh "I think I was afraid to believe that fate existed. Its just not possible in my eyes. I was scared and this was the last test I was doing. I wanted to prove to myself that I didn't believe in fate. But when you showed up time after time when I was in trouble, I began to doubt myself."

He smiled as he let go of her hand and wrapped his arms around her waste "I'm just glad you finally saw it."

She smiled happily, finally letting go of her worries "How could you be so patient?"

Sunny hummed through his smile "Hmm, there are some things you just know." he gave her a wink "Remember what I told you when I first expressed my feelings for you?"

She nodded "You said if two people had fate, it would not matter where they are in their lives, they will be bound to be together in the end."

"So you do listen?" he teased as he touched her face affectionately.

"Always." she nodded firmly.

He did not hold back as he reached down and kissed her lightly on the lips. He only pulled back long enough to prepare her for a longer deeper kiss. They were a sight to see as people walked by smiling at the happy couple. They were between thousands of people yet they felt like there were only the two of them on the walk way.
