Allie continued to close her eyes as she allowed her body to float weightlessly through the air. When she finally stopped floating, she felt herself falling softly on a comforting matress of some kind. When she decided to open her eyes, they felt heavy and tired like she has not done it for ages. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw the color white from all angles. Her vision was blurred as she looked around, she was in a hospital. She looked over to her left and saw a huge machine detecting her heartbeat.

She looked around the unrecognizable room, her eyes came upon a figure that was asleep beside her. His hair tickling her now numb hand. Her gaze turned down to their entwined hands, his face was faced downward so she could not see but even then she knew exactly who it was "Sunny?" her voice was a mere whisper and was too hoarse. She lifted her other hand which had a needle pointed into her skin with a connecting tube on her right. Allie reached over and tapped him on the head "Sunny?" she said louder this time but her voice was still hoarse.

Did his ears disceieve him? He heard a familiar voice he had not heard in two years. His head snapped upwards trying to see if he was going crazy. What he saw brought a grin to his face. His smile so bright that it could light up a darkened room "Allie?" He whispered as he brought her hand to his cheek "You woke up." tears of joy filled his eyes as he looked at her with love. He moved in closer to her face looking at her eyes, the eyes that he thought would never see again. "You scared me to death." he whispered while the tears fell over his smiling face.

Allie looked at him strangely "I remember being shot..."

He nodded "You have been in a coma for over two years."

She looked around the room like she had lost her memory "Two years..." she felt strange like everything was in slow motion.

He laughed with happiness as he jumped from the chair he was lying on "I have to tell the others." the minute he was about to leave Amy came in to check on Sunny.

Her face brightened up "Allie!" She exclaimed "You're awake!" she looked at Sunny who was beaming. The two hugged happily "I'm gonna go call Josie and Josh."

"Can you call Nick and Steve too?" Allie asked. Amy nodded with a smile "Thanks, Amy."

Sunny sat by her side looking like an excited kid, he helped her sit up when she looked like she was having problems getting up "The doctors said if you woke up, it would be a miracle. I guess miracles do happen. There must be a God up there." Sunny sighed happily as he continue to take her hand afraid that if he let go, she would slip away from him.

She smiled "It feels strange you know?" he nodded but she knew he could never understand the feeling that she went through "Like I was in another world."

Sunny shook his head "I don't know what you have gone through but I just know that you're back now. I just want you back." he reached over and hugged her warmly.

After a few minutes, the room bursted with buzz with Josie and Josh the first to arrive. "Allie!" Josie was excited as ever to see her friend awake "You had a long sleep." she scolded while wagging her finger at her friend "But I'm glad you're back." she hugged her friend.

Allie smiled "It feels good to be back." She glanced at Sunny who was talking to Nick, his smile was contagious. Oh how she missed that smile. "Anything exciting happened?" she asked cautiously, she was prepared for any surprises.

Josie's smile slipped away as she turned to the group and then back at Allie "Well...Josh and I are engaged."

Allie grinned "I guess that." she pointed to her friend's big rock on her fourth finger "What else." she sensed there was something else she wanted to say but wasn't sure how. "You can tell me." Allie urged. "There's nothing I have not experienced."

Suddenly the door bursted open with a camera crew "And here is a woman that has just woken up from a 2 year coma." the newslady announced into the lens.

Steve looked up looking annoyed "Come on people, give her some privacy!" he walked over and practically pushed the people away.

But they stood their ground "Now, look here, Mr. Nick Cheung." the lady pushed past Steve and held a microphone to Nick's face "Tell us Nick, who is she to you?? Rumors of you and your assistant has travelled around for the past few months. But you claimed that you are not tied with anyone?" she did not let him go easy.

He laughed cooly into the camera "I've heard of those rumors and I only have one thing to say. Can't you guys do better than that? You might as well have linked me to Allie, the girl that was in a coma after a gunshot pierced her heart." he shook his head "No, my assistant, Amy and I are NOT dating. She is actually taken." he nodded to Sunny.

Allie's heart fell at the response, she saw Josie whip her head to her with a look of dismay "Allie..." she began.

Allie shook her head "It's okay Josie. I don't mind. I'm just happy he was able to move on." she said it whole heartedly. "I mean it." she turned to Sunny who looked more flustered than Amy.

"Let's have a talk with Miss Allison Ng and about her miracle experience." the lady showed no shame in pushing Josie aside as she jammed the microphone in Allie's face "Miss Ng, how do you feel?"

Allie laughed "Like I slept for two years."

The lady chuckled in a fake tone "She has sense of humor! She must be awake."

The interview was quickly interrupted by the doctors who came in and pushed all the camera crew out "Please, this is a place for quiet, our patients are resting. Leave or I will call security." he threatened when they did not want to leave. The doctors turned to the group with an apologetic face. "I'm sorry everyone, we did not catch this group sneaking in. There are so many channel crews out there waiting to interview Ms Ng. I advise that you all take the back exit when you are done."

"Thank you doctor." Josie said.

The room fell silent as they awaited Allie's response. She looked around with a smile so pure "What's wrong guys? You look like someone just died. I am awake." she sat up and put her hands out to Sunny and Amy as they reached for her hands simultaneously "I'm so happy for you two. I'm happy that Sunny has found a better contender than I will ever be." they both looked down at the ground in shame "Don't do that guys. I'm really okay. I promise." she insisted and truly she was at ease. One thing she learned from her coma experience, be happy with what you have and what is given to you. There is no use in dwelling on something that was never yours.

******************

Allie was on the road to recovery as she had to do physical therapy to help her learn how to walk again. It only took her two weeks to gain full control of her muscles. She ate well and drank well. She could not be any happier to be alive and moving again. Every so often she would have spurts of memory that was brought to her by her dreams. She remembered clearly that she had died in her dream and Steve was the only one that could see her. She never told anyone of these dreams and it would forever remain that way for she promised herself she would take it to the grave.

Her job at Phoenix Inn was replaced and Sunny was kind enough to offer it to her "Your welcome back here nytime." he insisted when she dropped by to see her coworkers.

She shook her head "It's okay, I'll find another job." she assured him. "Everything has changed here." she pointed to the expanded bar he put on "That looks great."

"Sunny said it was your idea." Josie spoke up from behind her.

"I remembered clearly in one of our conversations that you thought it would be better if the bar was expanded." Sunny explained.

Allie shook her head "It's in the past, I barely remember anything anymore." she sighed as she got up "I'm gonna go now guys. I'll see you around."

"Where are you going?" Sunny asked.

She smiled "Find a job? Go places that I have missed."

Sunny nodded "Let me know if you need help."

"I think you have your hands full." she looked around at the restaurant. "Take care, Josie." she hugged her friend "Don't forget my invitation."

Allie had long planned that she wanted to move away from Hong Kong since she found out that Sunny and Amy were dating. Not that she was in pain and wanted to forget everyone and everything that reminded her of him but because she had finally understood the true meaning of moving on. She was no logner saddened by any news. She only wanted to live happily for the rest of her life. Even if it meant living all by herself. She unexpected decided to move to Hawaii at the last moment, she remembered how much she loved the place. She only left a letter in the mailbox of the restaurant which was in the back of the door, a slot was made for mail to go through. Her flight was at five o'clock in the morning so she headed off early to the airport. Her luggage in hand, she took one last look at Hong Kong, who knew when she would ever come back.

***************

The restaurant opened at 9am on the dot. Josie did her usual job to collect the mail, it was actually Allie's usual duties but since she was in a coma, Josie took over. She found a letter with no stamp or return address. It was written by hand "To the ones I will never forget." Josie had an uneasy feeling as she tore it open and found the sender to be Allie. "Sunny!!" she yelled from the kitchen "SUNNY!!!" she screamed even louder.

He sighed as he walked steadily to the kitchen "Yes, mam, you yelled?"

She handed him the letter "Allie's gone."

His face frowned as he took the letter from her hand and read it:

"Dear Sunny, Josie, Josh, Amy, Nick and Steve;

By the time you read this letter, I am on the plane to start a new beginning. I know this is as sudden as my coma and it may seem wrong of me to leave at this time. But I felt it necessary. None of you know how important you are in my life. I love you all very much but the world does not spin backwards, only forwards. I cannot keep living in the past. Yes, I love Sunny very much and I will always love you, Sunny. But I cannot be selfish and break up a couple that is already happy. I have realized so many things during my long, long sleep. I've seen so much yet I was never there. This may seem like nonsense to all of you but one day...you will understand.

This is not goodbye forever, it is a temporary leave. Until we all meet again, I will forever hold your friendships in my heart. Sunny for loving me uncoditionally and for teaching me about fate, I will never forget that. Josie for you amazing personality that has taught me not to be afraid to speak up. Josh for your friendship that has never faltered. Nick for believing in me and those great compliments you tell me with your eyes. Steve for helping me laugh at myself. And finally Amy, for being a well contender of love. I am glad I lost to you.

In the words of a person I shall never forget "No matter where you are, no matter where you go, fate will find us and bring us together." Have faith.

Love You Guys Always,
Allie

Ps. I am not far from here for I will remain in your memories, where we first met, where we first laugh and where our friendship bonded it will forever be etched in my heart and mind."

Josie wiped the tears from her eyes. "She's gone?"

Sunny's silent tears fell swiftly to the ground "Why? She couldn't wait for one more day?" he slumped back against the back door and almost fell through when Nick opened it. His usual entrance way.

"Hey, I'm sorry Sunny." he said with surprise. Amy right beside him.

Her smile quickly faded "What's wrong Sunny?"

Josie sniffed back the tears as she stared at the two of them angrily "Allie's gone! We don't know where she went!!" she threw the letter at them with pure hatred "All because of you two!!" she wiped the tears away as fresh one emerged "I want my friend back!"

Nick looked shamelessly to the ground "I'm sorry Sunny. I shouldn't have asked you to act as Amy's boyfriend. I had no idea of the outcome..."

Sunny put up his hand to silence him "It's not your fault. I knew what I was doing, a promise is a promise. I wished she could have waited one more day so we could all explain the confusion."

Nick had asked Sunny to pose as Amy's current boyfriend since a photographer caught Amy and Nick eating dinner together at a very romantic restaurant three months ago. To cover the publicity that would expose them, Nick asked the favor from Sunny to save his career. To be a movie star meant to be full of rumors at all times. But it would have ruined his current project with Ada Choi if he were to tell the public of his love for Amy, his assistant. "I'm sorry..." Amy didn't know what else to say.

Nick reached for her hand as he looked sadly at Josie "If I could change history I would."

Josie cooled down as she realized it wasn't their fault "I shouldn't be blaming it on you two. I blame it on fate. After two years she's finally woken up and still they have another obstacle to pass. Do you know where she could have gone?" she asked Sunny, her eyes full of hope.

Sunny shook his head, his heart too full to think "I don't know."

*****************three months later*********************

Allie settled in the Island of Muai, working as a waitress. She was content with her life, she had no worries, but every so often she would wonder about those friends that she had left behind. Her attention quickly returned to the couple that was waiting to get their orders. The place was slow paced and that's what she loved about it, no one was in a rush to do anything. People took their time to eat, to talk and to walk. She felt at ease with the lifestyle.

One day, a young gentleman in a flowered print shirt and some tan shorts walked in with sandals. His straw hat looked like he bought at the tourist market and his sunglasses were to big for his face. He looked to be an outsider as he did not have a tan. He seated himself and looked over the menu. Allie walked over to take his order "What can I get you today?"

The guy put down the menu and took off his sunglasses "I would like for you to have lunch with me."

Allie stared at the handsome guy with a smile "That's against the rules of this restaurant, Sir."

He smiled "Not if you're talking to the owner." he waved to the manager "Tell this lovely lady that I am the owner."

The man nodded with a smile "Yes, sir. Yes, Allie he is the owner. He bought over this restaurant a month ago when our old owner moved to California."

"That is all." the new owner waved at the manager to be on his way. "Now can you join me for lunch?" he pointed to the chair next to him.

Allie nodded with a small smile "Okay." she sat down and sighed "You still haven't ordered."

He sat up as his face was inches from her own, he pointed behind her "I'll have that waitress take it."

She turned but did not see any waitress, they have all disappeared for some reason. "I don't see any-" she cut herself off when she saw a tiny red heart shaped ring box pushed at her. She looked down at the beautiful diamond ring and smiled "Slick as ever...Sunny."

His dimple shown through as he took the ring out and slipped it on her hand "Now, where were we? I recalled wanting to ask you to marry me but we were rudely interrupted." his eyes sparkled as he took her hand "I know you will not decline because I will not take no for an answer."

She nodded, her face blushing "I know." she smiled as they hugged "God, how I missed you." she squeezed him tighter. He laughed from her powerful hug "I have a few questions though."

He pulled away with a knowing smile "Amy and I were faking the whole thing for a publicity stunt. Nick is the true culprit behind all the confusion. We were going to tell you the truth at the hospital when you woke up but that darn newslady came in and ruined everything. Each time I tried to tell you, it was too public to say anything. A promise is a promise." he sighed.

Allie shook her head "No not that." he looked at her strangely "I knew you would come for me, it was a matter of when. What I want to know is why you didn't assume that I would never wake up from the coma."

He laughed "You want to know that?" he shook his head "Shouldn't it be obvious? I never gave up on you. Even when the doctors told me to pull the plug on you, I couldn't bear to. You were presumed dead that night at the hospital when they took out the bullet that damaged your heart. But I told them not to let you off the oxygen machine. I wanted to say some last words to first, but then your heart beat rose and it was at a steady pace. The announced you to be in a deep coma. I didn't want to give up hope, I wanted to believe that you would one day wake up and I wanted to be the first person you saw."

She had tears in her eyes "You came everyday?"

He nodded as he wiped her tears from her cheeks "Sometimes I stayed over too."

"Weren't you afraid someone would see you?" she asked wondering to herself mostly.

Sunny laughed "I didn't think of it that way. I didn't care if people caught me. Did you hear me when you were in the coma?"

Allie shook her head "Unfortunately no. But I did have a strange dream....do you want to know what heaven looks like?"

Surprisingly, he shook his head "No, but I know what an angel looks like." she grinned wider "So, what wishes do you have right now?"

"Isn't it too early to be Santa Claus?" he chuckled but she seemed to be enjoying the moment "Hmm...let me think. I want to see Josie..." he nodded "Josh..." he nodded "Amy, Nick and Steve!" she finished.

"Consider it done." he turned around for their cue to come out and surely, all five appeared from behind applauding at the newly engaged couple.

Allie's eyes widened in shock "Oh my gosh!" she covered her mouth laughing as she and Josie embraced like sisters who were separated at birth "Josie!" she came down the line and hugged everyone. "You guys were in on it?" she hit Steve roughly on the arm.

He rubbed it in pain "Why am I always the one getting hit?"

Sunny and the rest laughed while Allie continued to shake her head in disbelief. They had planned this for so long. He walked over to his bride to be "I do not want to live another day without you by my side, so we are going to get married tonight on this beach." he annoucned. Everyone clapped their hands in agreement. The guys whistled while Josie and Amy screamed at the top of their lungs.

Allie laughed as Sunny wrapped his arms around her "You are one crazy man."

He smiled with his head tilting to one side, he moved in and their foreheads touched "And you will not leave my side, ever." she nodded as they hugged and the tiny diner blew up with applauds.

The wedding was small and plain. Her dress was off the shoulder and pur white lace, the train flowed on the sand as she walked down the beach filled aisle, nothing touching her feet except the sand tickling her feet. Everyone was dressed casually, the girls in flowered dresses and the guys in flowered print shirts and khakis. Sunny was in a white suit, his jacket was taken off and his sleeves were folded halfway up. His pants were rolled up so it wouldn't hit the sand. Everyone came barefooted. The ceremony began at the first sign of sunset. The story did not end there for it was only the beginning of their lives together.

"Everyone knows that good things don't last forever, but you could make the best out of your lives with each day passing."
