Kenneth smiles as he sees the lady. The lady smiles back at him. She’s wearing a cream white shirt, which the sleeves stop at her elbows, along with dark blue jeans and white tennis shoes. Her hair is loose, cascading down around her shoulders freely.
Kenneth walks towards her while the other officers behind her are helping Brad, George, Justin, and Lenny escort the suspects inside.
“Good to see you, Joey,” Kenneth said with a smile.
Joey looks at the three people behind him. “I’m guessing they’re not suspects? Since they’re with you?” She lets out a teasing smile after saying that.
“Victims and witnesses. Also, he’s…” He stops long enough to point to Ryan. “…just following to learn how to be a cop.”
“He’s a cop?”
“No, he’s just…..”
“…a wannabe cop,” Wallace joined in, finishing the words with Kenneth.
Kenneth turns around to smile at Wallace.
“Let’s get inside, shall we?” Joey said, gesturing her hand towards the door.
Kenneth and Joey walk side-by-side while the other three follow closely.
“I can’t believe you agree with him like that,” Ryan whispered to Wallace. “Especially in front of such an attractive chick!”
“You should have behaved more and not act like Ken’s follower,” Wallace shot back.
“I’m so not acting like one!”
“Your actions show otherwise.”
They arrive at a big room with tables and chairs everywhere after several turns. Kenneth and Joey call one of the available officers to help take statements so it would speed up the process. Kenneth takes Wallace’s statements while the other officer takes Ryan’s. Joey leads Cyndi to a break room and gets her something to drink before taking her statements in another empty room. After thirty minutes, they’re done and everyone’s free to go. But before they go, Kenneth pulls them all, including Brad and George – who had wondered in ten minutes before to find Kenneth, to a room towards the back to discuss further about the case.
“Okay,” Kenneth said. “This is between us so please don’t let it out. I know you all won’t. This is our only lead and it will also give us another chance of finding Vincent and Alyssa. Even though the night crew is out there but it’s unlikely they’re still there. So, Brad and George, you two can keep an eye on Justin and Lenny while Joey and I look further into the case.”
“What will we do?” Wallace asked.
“Resume your normal routine until we find your friends. We’ll let you know of anything new.”
“I know it’s hard for you all to resume the normal routine but we won’t get anywhere with you all in panic,” Joey said.
“We understand,” Wallace said.
“Okay, we’ll take you home now since you don’t have your cars,” Kenneth informed them.
Since they all live at different places, Kenneth’s taking Wallace, Joey’s taking Cyndi, and Brad will take Ryan. George stays behind and keeps an eye on Justin and Lenny.
When they’re out in front of the station again, Wallace stops and looks at Cyndi. He opens his mouth but closes it again. He knows it can wait. He also knows that if Cyndi wants to talk about it with him, she will later.
