Wallace walks out of the building in time to see Mandy getting into Mr. Cho’s car while Ray and Kevin are watching nearby. He waves to them but they didn’t seem to see him. He looks at the crowded street in front of him. Seeing no Taxi, he decides to walk a bit before hauling one at the next block. Before he steps any further he hears someone honking behind him. He turns around to see that Kenneth’s car has pulled up.
Kenneth *stops the car & gestures to Wallace*: Get in real quick!
When Wallace’s in the car, Kenneth pulls out before speaking up.
Kenneth: That was a close one! *grinning*
Wallace: I don’t believe it. A cop breaking a law and still be able to celebrate about it.
Kenneth: Come on. I didn’t get caught, did I?
Wallace: You will soon.
Kenneth: You’ll tell on me?
Wallace: I mean someday someone will see it.
Kenneth: Tough luck.
They stay silent after that. Couple blocks up, Kenneth’s expression turns serious.
Kenneth: Last night wasn’t all wasted. We found some clues.
Wallace *tenses up a bit*: You found Vincent and Alyssa?
Kenneth *smiles to reassure Wallace*: Not quite. But we finally found the group who did it. At least we have some clues as to how to get to them.
Wallace stays silent to let Kenneth continue.
Kenneth: And you know what’s funny?
Wallace doesn’t answer either.
Kenneth: We found out who did it because George fell asleep while trying to keep an eye on Lenny.
Wallace: How though? He got away, didn’t he?
Kenneth *shakes his head*: Lenny spiked George’s drink but Brad was able to follow him since he and Justin were meeting up.
Wallace: I thought you guys said yesterday that Justin’s the smart one, how could he let Brad follow him?
Kenneth: He’s smart but he’s not informative enough. Brad doesn’t drink coffee. Whenever they’re on a shift together, George usually drinks Brad’s coffee too so everyone thought that Brad drinks coffee.
Kenneth pauses to smile and enjoys the moment a bit. He sees that Wallace’s getting impatient so he goes on after making a right turn toward the road that leads out to the country area.
Kenneth: The point? Brad followed them back to Lenny’s house. Sounds old but they have a secret pathway leading out into the woods.
Wallace: Is that where they kept Vincent and Alyssa?
Kenneth: No. But Brad found out that area is where they set up their meetings.
Wallace *goes into a thinking mode*: Wait, where is that wood?
Kenneth: Guess. *smiles*
Wallace: The same area we had our picnic?
Kenneth: Yea. Makes everything a lot easier to catch them.
Wallace: Doesn’t it make you worry that it’s so easy? I mean what if it’s a trap?
Kenneth: Most people at the station thinks that Justin’s the smartest there, but Brad isn’t far behind. He’s one of those that we put undercover more because he has the “average” look that deceives people.
Wallace: Why are you telling me all of these? Aren’t you afraid I’m going to blow Brad’s cover one of these days when he’s on a job?
Kenneth: For now, I know you won’t because you can’t afford to sacrifice your friends and second *pauses for emphasis* will you know it’s him when he’s on one of his jobs?
Wallace looks at Kenneth, impatient. Wallace thought that this guy is impressive when he met him yesterday. But now Wallace sees that this guy is the most random guy on this planet.
Kenneth: Ok. No more jokes. Here we are.
Wallace realizes that Kenneth has taken him to the wood area where they had the picnic yesterday. Where Vincent and Alyssa had been taken. He sees that his car is still there and so is Vincent’s truck.
Kenneth: We had to work hard on locating them so no time to tow the truck back to Vincent’s house yet.
Wallace nods, understanding the priority of the time.
Kenneth: You can take your car back.
Kenneth hands Wallace his keys.
Wallace *reaches his hand out for the keys*: You took me all the way out here just to tell me that?
Kenneth smiles before going on.
Kenneth: No. It’s where the secret tunnel leads to.
Wallace’s expression turns serious.
Kenneth gestures for Wallace to follow him. They walk around Vincent’s truck and past the clearing, into the area where the trees are.
Kenneth: Ok, since there is no one here and that’s definite with the amount of space at this area, I’ll tell you our plan. Joey will be here soon and you get to help with find your friends so you don’t have to feel all the anxiety of sitting around and wait. Deal?
Wallace: Deal.
Kenneth does have a plan. In fact, a very good one. Wallace regains his confidence in him. When Kenneth’s done with telling Wallace the plan, Joey’s car approaches the clearings. When she joins them, the three of them get to work.
