Jacky, Gallen, and Ray get up before any of the others and race to Wallace’s apartment.
What they see next isn’t that frightening but more of a worrisome matter. Wallace’s on the floor of the living room, harmless but unconscious.
Jacky rushes toward where Wallace’s lying. Alice’s still standing aside, still too numbed to move.
Jacky *looks up at the others*: He’s fine, just fainted. We need to bring him to the hospital quick though.
Alice: How about calling in?
Jacky: It’ll be awhile before they get here. We all have cars, let’s do it.
The crowd in front of him has increased since they first heard the scream because it had alarmed everyone to snap out of their sleepy phase.
Gallen: I’ll take him. Since I don’t have work anyways.
Alice: I’m going with you.
She doesn’t want anyone to object so she rushes into her room to change into a shirt and jeans. The guys are helping with getting Wallace out of the apartment. When they come to the elevators, Ray slaps his forehead.
Ray: We forgot the elevators aren’t working.
Jacky: I’ll carry him on my back. Come on! Hurry!
Jacky kneels down quickly while Gallen and Ray balance Wallace on Jacky’s back. They guys help with making sure their journey down the stairs is safe. The girls, except Alice, stay in Gallen’s apartment to wait for further news. They remember to lock the door while the guys are gone. Five minutes later, Kevin and Ray come back.
Mandy *goes to the door to meet them*: Well?
Ray: We got him down and in the car safely. We’ll just have to wait now.
Charmaine: Where’s Jacky?
Ray: Making a round around the building to make sure everything’s good.
Kevin: You girls can go get ready for work while we keep watch. *turns to Annie* Jacky will call up to tell you when it’s safe to go back to your apartment.
Annie nods. Jan pats Annie on the shoulder and leads her to sit down to wait on the couch while Charmaine and Mandy go back to their apartment to get ready for work.
Five minutes later, Jacky calls to give Annie and Jan the okay signal to go back to their apartments. Kevin goes with them while the others lock up and go back to Charmaine and Mandy’s apartment.
The day starts out with a close call, but the rest of the day goes on with more ease than they predicted. But who knows that will happen when they go home? Or what will happen tomorrow? No one knows.
