There were about twenty dorms, with two for the coaches and the others mainly for the canteen, bathrooms, equipment, sports stuff and the others for the campers. The coaches managed to get the campers settled onto the ground to double-check the name lists and assign the dorms to the campers.
Ms. San was the teacher-in-charge of the camp, so she was the one calling out the Camp Buddies, as if the campers were still so young they needed Camp Buddies. The girls occupied seven dorms and the boys occupied six, the rest were for the equipment like I mentioned earlier.
"Brigit Hammer, Kylie Louis, Penny Door, Courtney Beam, Natasha Liber, and Jenny Aarons. Dorm 5, to the right, over there," she pointed to the dorm at the end, nearest to the ocean.
She continued reading out the names till she reached to the part where there were Camp Buddies. 'Girls with girls, boys with boys.' Courtney thought in her mind.
But when she heard the next coach, Mrs. Lambert, call out Judy Loom and Kory Baxley's names as buddies, anything could happen.
"Courtney Beam with urm...Wayne Daiton...", she stammered at the name, "Ursula Heem with Hailie Johnn."
To top off the worst thing ever, Courtney was buddies with the sweaty, panting Wayne Daiton. It was the worst thing ever, she ignored everything Mrs. Lambert said with small little visions of her and Wayne together playing games.
When the announcements were over, the campers had to meet their buddies and dormmies (dorm-mates). She found Wayne easily and hurried off to find her dormmies.
They were really nice girls actually. Jenny was a little like Lauren, except the looks and caring scale. Natasha was those hip-hop type, but she loved marine life. Brigit was a very girly girl, she complained about her hair, the environment and such, other than that, the others found her sweet, plus she admitted that she loved marine life like the rest of them. Penny was quiet and still, always in the corner toying with a single strand of string she found near the her scarf. But, Kylie was totally different, Courtney was sure that she loved marine life, although she kept denying it and said her parents forced her to go.
After getting Penny to mix with them, they found out the real her, there was a thing Ms. San mentioned about getting a group name, and they called themselves, "Unique Clique".
Dinner was served in the canteen and they ate together. The meal was peas and carrots, mash potatoes and some meat loaf the cafeteria ladies whipped up. They had the supper of corn and beef soup before going to the bathrooms and getting ready for bed. Brigit, of course, complained about the food and dirty grass they had to step on with their slippers, but they ignored those words and laughed instead.
For the whole night, they talked about thousands of subjects, their lives, the camp, and the whole love for marine life thing. Courtney loved listening to ghost stories, but the others weren't ready, the bond did not begin yet. She could actually see the dawn of a wonderful camp of two weeks with them. And it was still just the first day!
