Teacher: Class, I’m sure you guys know that the school festival is coming soon. During the ballot, we’ve been picked to perform a play during the school festival. Any suggestions?
Class representative: How about Romeo and Juliet?
Classmate 1: But that’s so boring!
Classmate 2: What if we make it a modernize version?
Teacher: That’s an interesting idea! Does everyone agree with this suggestion?
Class: OKAY!
Teacher: Now, let us start choose the actors for our play! Recommendations?
Derrick: *raises up his hand* I recommend Show to be Romeo!
Show: *whispers to Derrick* what the heck are you doing?
Derrick:*whispers back* come on, the girls in this school will be thrilled to watch their prince to play Romeo! Don’t you think so?
Show:*whispers* but I can’t act!
Derrick: *whispers* how can you be so sure? Just give it a try!
Teacher: Any objections?
Girls in class: Ahh! No no! Show will be the perfect Romeo! :D
Derrick: *whispers* look at their reaction! Told you they will be thrilled. *winks*
“Right…. The girls will be thrilled except for her. “
Show turned and looked at Charlene. As usual, Charlene would look out of the window and behaved nonchalantly, as if whatever that was going in class had nothing to do with her. Just then, Show heard something unbelievable.
Jacelyn: *raises up her hand*I recommend Charlene to be Juliet!
Charlene: *opens her eyes in disbelief* WHAT?!
Teacher: Any objections?
Boys in the class: NO!
Charlene:*stands up and hits the table* I OBJECT!
Such violent objection from Charlene shocked Show. He knew that she had always hated him but he didn’t expect her to hate him to such an extent. He watched how Jacelyn tried to persuade her to take the role.
Jacelyn: Teacher, Charlene’s just being shy. She doesn’t have any experience on stage before that’s why.
Teacher: Really? It’s okay Charlene. Everyone has their first time in everything. You should try!
Charlene: But…but…
Teacher: Is there other reason why you don’t want to take the role?
Charlene: I… I…. Actually, no.
Teacher: Then it should be okay. Don’t disappoint the classmates who supported you to take this role.
Charlene: okay…
Show could see how much Charlene dreaded acting with him. But he couldn’t understand why she didn’t want to give the real reason as to why she doesn’t want to take the role. Was it because she doesn’t want people to think that she’s petty? Or is there some other reason? He really wanted to know but he knows that it’s going to be hard to get an answer…
