Chapter 2

Juliet, ME?!

Her point of view

Teacher: Class, I’m sure you guys know that the school festival is coming soon. During the ballot, we’ve been picked to perform a play during the school festival. Any suggestions?
Class representative: How about Romeo and Juliet?
Classmate 1: But that’s so boring!
Classmate 2: What if we make it a modernize version?
Teacher: That’s an interesting idea! Does everyone agree with this suggestion?
Class: OKAY!
Teacher: Now, let us start choose the actors for our play! Recommendations?

“This is so boring…” Charlene thought to herself as she looked out of the window beside her table. She knew who is going to be the Romeo for sure. And the girls would all fight to be Juliet if nobody is being nominated. Everything is so expected, as if it’s all been planned and it’s boring her out. She just wished that time can move faster so that she can quickly get to know her minor role and get out of class as soon as possible.

Derrick: *raises up his hand* I recommend Show to be Romeo!
Teacher: Any objections?
Girls in class: Ahh! No no! Show will be the perfect Romeo! :D

“As expected. “ Charlene smirks as she thought to herself. Just then Charlene thought she heard something shocking that made her open her eyes so wide she thought her eyeballs are falling out of the sockets.

Jacelyn: *raises up her hand*I recommend Charlene to be Juliet!
Charlene: WHAT?!
Jacelyn:*jabs Charlene and whispers* come on, you’re the most popular girl in school! All the guys would love to watch you play the Juliet role!
Charlene:*whispers back*no way, I am not going to take this role.
Teacher: Any objections?
Boys in the class: NO!
Charlene:*stands up and hit the table* I OBJECT!
Jacelyn: *whispers to Charlene* hey, don’t be such a spoilsport! Just give it a try! *turns and speak up* Teacher, Charlene’s just being shy. She doesn’t have any experience on stage before that’s why.
Teacher: Really? It’s okay Charlene. Everyone has their first time in everything. You should try!
Charlene: But…but…
Teacher: Is there other reason why you don’t want to take the role?
Charlene: I… I…. Actually, no.

Charlene really wanted to tell the teacher the real reason. She knew she would have difficulty working with Show not to say being his lover in the play. It’s going to be real hard but she doesn’t want to hurt Show. She knew that somewhere in her heart that she feel that Show is not a bad person but she really doesn’t want to take this role.

Teacher: Then it should be okay. Don’t disappoint the classmates who supported you to take this role.
Charlene: okay…

Charlene sat down and still couldn’t believe that all that has happened wasn’t a nightmare. She pinched herself to make sure again. Sigh. This is reality. Fate sure knows how to make fun of people. This play is going to be a challenge...
