It had been 3 days after the request Charlene made to the teacher. She felt that she needed more time to prepare herself to face Show and overcome this problem.
It’s lunchtime now and Charlene just finished her lunch with her friends at the school’s backyard. Her friends were talking about their singers and she wasn’t really interested in such topics. But when she saw Show as she was entering the classroom, she pretended to be joining in the conversation to distract herself. Because of that, she didn’t notice the obstacle in front of her and tripped. Charlene knew tried to keep her balance but failed and knew she was going to land on her head so she closed her eyes.
Just then she felt her head landed on something soft. She felt that someone was above her, breathing heavily. She opened her eyes and was stunned. Show saved her fall. Realizing how close their face were, Charlene could feel her heart beating faster and faster by the seconds, making her feeling all uneasy and familiar.
This is just like how it feels like during the incident when she was 8. She remembered now. She remembered the reason why she has been avoiding him so much.
-Flashback-
Charlene: *sobs* ouch…
Show: *runs over* hey, you alright?
Charlene: *points to her wound on her knee cap* it hurts! *sobs*
Show: let me see. Wow, it’s bleeding a lot. Don’t worry, I will call a teacher here.
Charlene: *sobs* okay.
Show: *moves towards Charlene’s face* don’t cry anymore okay? *wipes away her tears*
Show’s face was so near to Charlene’s that she could feel his breath. She began to blush and she felt her heart beating faster and faster which makes her feel uncomfortable and hard to breathe. She didn’t know why and she didn’t know how to react. She just felt that she should get away from him and she pushed him away. She quickly picked herself up and tried to run away with her injured leg.
-End of flashback-
Charlene quickly pushed Show away and screamed “Oh my god! Get away from me!” and ran out of the classroom. She knew she shouldn’t do this but she didn’t know what she’s supposed to do. She felt so out of breath, so embarrassed, so uncomfortable. She wondered what’s wrong with her. Just then, Charlene heard someone calling her name. She turned around and saw Jacelyn, her best friend, chasing after her so she stopped running.
Jacelyn: hey, what’s wrong? Why did you push Show away when he saved you?
Charlene: I... I don’t know either. I just felt really uncomfortable and my body reacted on its own. Can I ask you something?
Jacelyn: sure, go ahead.
Charlene: What does it mean when you r heart starts beating at an extremely fast pace, and you feel embarrassed and out of breath when you see a particular person?
Jacelyn: Hmm… it means you’re in love with that person!
Charlene: What?!
Jacelyn: yeah, that’s what people always say on TV.
Charlene: come on, can TV really be trusted?
Jacelyn: well, I’ve never had that kind of experience before. Of course I believe in whatever the TV says about love!
“If what Jacelyn says is true, does that mean that I’m in love with Show? No way, this can never happen. There has to be some other explanation. I better try to find it fast so that the class play will work out well.” thought Charlene, with determination.
