Charlene: Jacelyn, I won’t be able to walk home with you today.
Jacelyn: Why? You have something on? I can wait for you.
Charlene: No, I’m going to stay here to discuss my role with the teacher and it’s going to take quite a long time. Why not you go home first?
Jacelyn: Okay then… Don’t leave school too late! See you tomorrow at the bus stop as usual! Bye!
Charlene: Bye! *smiles*
Charlene heaved a sigh of relief when Jacelyn finally left. She found a piece of note on her table when she reached school in the morning. She was asked to meet Show at the school gym after class rehearsals. She wonders what he wants to talk about as she walks towards the gym. When she reached the gym, she saw Show walking about anxiously.
Charlene: h… hey, I’m sorry I’m late. I had to come with some excuse to ditch my friends. So you wanted to talk about?
Show: *turns around* wow, I’m surprised that you would actually turn up when you’ve avoided me so long all these years.
Those words pierced Charlene’s heart with guilt. She didn’t know the reason for her behavior until yesterday and realized that she might have hurt Show with her actions, especially yesterday.
Charlene: *looks down* I came because I want to apologize about yesterday. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to push you away like that. My body just acted on its own when I remembered the incident that happened 8 years ago.
Show: I knew it had something to do with that incident 8 years ago. What do you mean by your body acted on its own? You pushed me away like that during that incident too. Can you please explain yourself?
Charlene: I… I’m not sure myself too. I just felt uncomfortable that my heart was beating so fast and I felt so out of breath when your face came near me. I felt that I need to get away from you so my body just reacted on its own and… and pushed you away. I’m sorry.
Show: wait, you said that you felt that your heart was beating fast and out of breath. *chuckles* you’ve got to be kidding. You mean you’re in love with me?
“Why is he saying the same thing as Jacelyn?” Charlene starts to wonder if her symptoms really meant that she is in love with Show. But this is still too hard to believe.
Charlene: What? No way!
Show: *walk towards Charlene* Yes, you are. Look at you, you’re blushing!
Charlene could feel that her cheeks are warm and for each step that Show took towards her, her heart was hammering so hard that she could hear her heartbeat loud and clear.
Charlene: No, I’m not! Don’t come any closer! *shift backwards until she reaches a corner unknowingly* I’m going to hit you!
Show: *continues to move closer to her* you won’t hit me. A girl won’t hit the guy she li…
And before Show finished his sentence, Charlene’s hand made its way across his face. Charlene realized that she had hurt Show physically. She could feel guilt piercing through her body this time.
Charlene: Oh…Oh my god. I’m so sorry! My body moved on its own again. I didn’t mean to hurt you!
Show: man, you’ve got to learn how to control your body’s movement.
Charlene: I’m really sorry. Can I do anything to make this up for you?
Show: Hmm… sure you can. How about start rehearsing for our scenes tomorrow?
Charlene: huh?!
Charlene was shocked by Show’s request.
Show: Yeah, you heard what I said. I suck at acting, so I need a lot of practice. So please, help me by rehearsing with me after school rehearsals. Is that okay with you?
Charlene could not believe her ears. Show sucks with acting? She thought that he was perfect since so many girls idolize him, calling him a prince.
Charlene: You, the prince of the school, sucks with acting? *chuckles* alright, I guess I can do that. But I can’t guarantee that my body won’t move on its own again when you come too close to me.
Show: then I better bring a first aid box with me!
Both of them laughed together.
Charlene could feel that she’s becoming more comfortable with Show’s presence. Maybe getting to know him isn’t a bad thing after all. Maybe this class play can be the chance for them to become friends…
