Chapter 4

New Job

Silently I knocked on the door, and someone said I could come in, so I opened the door quietly and entered. Sitting behind a large desk was Mr. Lee Soo Man himself, though he was on the phone. He motioned me to sit down on one of the chairs in front of his desk. I waited in patiently for him to finish the phone, I didn’t mean to listen to his conversation but it was really quiet and he was the only one talking.

“So it’s all set then? I’ll arrange for her to have an apartment next to theirs, and she’ll start tomorrow at noon then. Alright bye.” And Mr. Lee Soo Man hanged up.

“So you’re Sammy Kim if I’m not mistaken?” He questioned.
“Yes sir,” I replied.
“And you have no relatives in Korea?” he continued.
“Yes sir,” I repeated.
“Well it seems that you’re already fluent in Korean, and from what I heard, quite the excellent dancer. I’m in need of a backup dancer for an upcoming comeback, and I’m giving you this job.” He informed me.
I was baffled at the thought of already starting my career in dancing this early and a little confused, “Thank you sir, but um…not to be rude sir, but why are you offering me the job?”
“Because like I said I’m in need of backup dancers and you can say, this is your payment while your being a trainee and for the apartment, considering your current situation with your parents.” He responded.

I nodded my head in understanding, while looking down at the floor. I had to admit I was pretty embarrassed and torn by my parent’s attitude. When the signed my contract, they told the judges, that don’t contact them ever again about me and that from now on I was an orphan….

“Sammy, I know things may be hard right now, but things will get better as time passes,” Mr. Lee Soo Man said, “Now here are your keys to your apartment, and Yunchul will drive you there.”
“Thank you sir,” I replied. I stood up and was about to leave his office when a question appeared in my head. I turned around and asked, “Excuse me sir, but may I ask which group I’m working with?”
“Ah, you will be working and living next to SHINee. They currently now working on their new album Romeo, so I’ll be expecting to see you once in a while. Now if you may, I have some work to finish.” He said.

I muttered a thank you and left his office. I sighed a bit. Haven’t been here a whole day and I already have a job and it’s with SHINee, maybe things will get better when time passes I thought hopefully. Well I should get going and see my new apartment.
