Q: Conngratulation Hana Chen, as the first woman F1 driver who managed to sit in highest place in podium today, how do you feel about that.
HC: Of course I’m happy. This winning is a prove to everyone who doubt my ability as a driver. Especially to my mother who didn’t agree with my decision to be a F1 driver. Mom… I hope you could see me, although I knew she always support me. I just want to say I’m very happy… This winning is for my team and tifosi. I always dream to get a winning in Ferrari home base.
Q: Is race just simple… already in your blood?
HC: You might say that… I have a father which was an ex-F1 driver. Also a mother who was someone that dedicated her life as a race engineer for the sake of Asia automotive sport improvement. But to be honest, it was not them that make me love this sport. My father of course didn’t agree when I tell him that I will become a driver because he was afraid I will get hurt like him. As for my mother… to be honest, she is just an ordinary mother just like other mothers even she is a race engineer. She didn’t want to see her daughter to get a risky job like this.
It was my step father. You must be known him, the first WDC from Asia, Wu Ji Zun who always encourage me. He didn’t force me to be a driver, he just always let me to do anything that I want. My mom is the one who always protect me but someone who let me to do what I want. But it make a balance right (laugh). Perhaps because of my blood and because of my environment that made me become a driver. From a young age I always see how my mom works, how my father works and how my step father works. A love to this sport comes just naturally. Mostly I have to say thanks to my step father though, although I hate to call him like that, I just didn’t want to make you be confused between my Daddy and my P. I always call him as Prince. My P, Papa Prince. He is the one who make my Mom finally let me to be a professional driver. If he didn’t convince my mom, I will not be here.
